I was born 1967 and through the eighties we admired Larry very much as he gave the christian gospel a voice, a hard and radical voice. I loved this time and we saw Larry at Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal, a little city in the west of Germany, where he made a tremendous performance in his black leather jacket and with the long blond hair. God bless him and all the people who remember this great time.
I've enjoyed Larry's music for decades. But I am sad by the "churchianity" treatment around the fact that, after helping launch Randy Stonehill's career, Randy's wife divorced him after falling in love and then "marrying" Larry. Where was the light of truthful treatment, of "Jesus People" honesty? And what are the future ripple effects in terms of legacy and witness to others? Nevertheless, what a gifted artist.
Hea was a writer and a musician that oppened my mind and soul to music. Didn't know he wasn't on this planet anymore. As he said he was only ever visiting this planet....
His death wasn't highly publicized by all Christian media, but rather portrayed as "the passing of a great Christian artist." I applaud CCM for not openly idolizing a man who's only mission was to bring others to Christ through rock n' roll.
I've known Larry since I was in elementary school, grew up around the corner, and through his days of the 'People' band and his transformation. Thank you for posting all these. He is truely missed.
he still has all his hair it is simply tucked up inside his hat... Larry norman changed my life through his music 7 was the first ever gospel/christian artist I ever thought was very 'cool' an awsome songwriter with an 'edge'& god given talent that is very rare....!
It's hard to even imagine that eight years following this interview where it seemed like Larry Norman was in the best health and shape of his life at the time of this clip, he'd be physically gone from the world of Christian music. His legacy as a songwriter and musician continues through those who pay tribute to him regularly in music and ministry.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the interviews. Weird to see him so thin, with so little hair. Larry was the first musician I heard singing about Jesus back in 1983, and his lyrics made a difference. I met him a few times, and enjoyed those brief conversations.
in the midst of his sickness Larry was kind enough to send my little girl emails...we get to play in a tribute concert for Larry tonight at the Prophet Bar in Dallas
So what was the secular band he left back in the beginning?

Really cool clip. Lots of great GREAT Christian artists discussed. It's a shame that Larry, Gene and Mark had to leave so soon.

Fondly recall the essence of a 20 minute sermon at Greenbelt in the early 80's - guys, go clean up your room! A rare man indeed. Sorely missed.

Wow! Didn't know that Todd got Larry to talk about Gene Eugene. I wasn't even sure if Larry had a lot of knowledge of Gene's work. Cool!
