  • Thanks so much for posting this video! When this song first came out, I loved it instantly...but it seemed to come and go so quickly from the charts, and I couldn't believe such a great song didn't make "Number One" back then!

Hadn't heard (or even thought about) this song for years, but suddenly have been singing it to myself the last few days and longed to hear Smokey singing it again. Feels like a gentle rain falling on a wilted flower! And I agree with you - it IS a "forgotten gem!."

  • Hey does anybody have Smokey Robinsons song "love so fine" that was on the "cruising" album... I'm so surprised its not on youtube, unless that's not the name, I used to play it every day though..

  • One of THE MIRACLES' biggest hits, BABY BABY DON'T CRY was a million-selling Top 10 smash from Spring , 1969. It reached # 8 on the Billboard Pop Chart, and # 3 on it's R&B Chart that year.

  • They Jammin' on this One

  • the breakdown is phenomenal

  • check out respect 4 grandma by fort minor great sample of this song

  • i'm younger and i grew up outside philly and a dj named harvey holiday put me on to a lot of this shit. he had a motown show and a soul show on thursdays (he had a doo wop show on sundays too but i can only take so much of that)

i go back home, and it's now a clear channel bullshit 80s pop-as-oldies station, and harvey holiday is giving away journey tickets

    shameful shit

  • A truly beautiful song, haunting in a way. This song has always touch a deep nerve with me- it's another of those Motown songs that demonstrates that the company wasn't just about creating good dance tunes, but could create emotionally honest songs as well. The whole song is brilliant, but when it hits that break and modulates up a key, I almost always loose it. A Masterpiece.

  • @tomovox Agree with you (haunting)

Marvin Tarplin was always the 5th Miracle adding those bad ass licks.

    Masterpiece personified.

  • @mrjoshjones1 Actually the SIXTH Miracle....if you count Claudette. (The Miracles actually had SIX original members.

  • @tomovox AMEN. I'll always felt the same way.

  • @amd77j hello. it is an incredible song isn't it? glad to know I'm in good company!

  • @tomovox HELLO!!! It is an absolute masterpiece. Smokey and Motown at its best!!!

  • this song is awesome! and although it wasnt they're biggest hit it shows just how good they could be.thanx ruffan!.

  • Claudette was an original member of The Miracles. To see what Claudette (and the other Miracles) look like today, click on "the Miracles Star Walk"

  • I always thought this is one of the best tunes from Smokey..

  • thax i didnt no that =) smokys wife

  • whos that women???

  • that's Smokeys wife Claudette she sang backup on a very large portion of their songs but retired from touring early on

  • @ruffan And she was his wife

  • @joehancock01 Claudette Robinson was an original member of The Miracles. She retired from live performances in 1964 for health reasons, but continued recording with the group until 1972, when her husband, Smokey, left.
