Hey! What for a Objective do you use on the first Picture? When i was trying to take the same one. The focus was not only in the face. The "rest of the body" was also a little bit in the focus. So I didn't get the same effect. I uns a Nikon D3000 with the 18-55mm Kit-Objektive.
I shoot the photo with F5,6 und 1/100 shutterspeed.
@PhotoClassPro Ah well I used a 50mm F/1.4. But if you understand that there are 3 contributing factors to DOF and not just one (aperture setting) then you can get the same effect my manipulating the other 2. We have a great tutorial on the forums at the website for the show. phototips-dot-biz
@PlayerKingSusu The lower your F stop such as the lens u have 18-55 is probably a f 3.5-4.5 or something to that affect. The lower your number the more bokeh you get which is the blurred look!
This is EXACTLY what they say NOT to do. Adding the rule of 3rds is a true rule in this case for sure. I bet using this tech with a pan tilt lens would be unlimited! Thank you. We voted "UP" for you ...sorry couldn't help the pun.
hey man! nice! great tip! TIPS.... lol.. i love your pictures dude! but nice basic principle! i know tomorrow i will be taking some awesome pictures of my friends!!!! thanxx!!!!
Another great reason to use this technique is it gets rid of double chins!! I always try now to take pictures where I'm looking upward, it make the face so much slimmer.
