  • Albert Grosman was a real pig....a friend met him,he was the most arrogant ass ever.

  • @MrCrispian Creative people often want people like that around to do and say the tough and dirty things they cant/wont

  • watch don't lock back. they sing together also..and he's rewriting some stuff he wrote down on paper...

  • to be contunied.you sould see that video

  • woow, what a great video! their relationship 's always seemed magical to me..

  • he could have typed in beat, that wudda been cool

  • Bob you're such a brilliant moron !!! all my respect for you is gone. You can neither sing nor respect the people who can sing . Still i somehow i respect you.

  • @TheLyricalromance Well, you're not very clever.

  • he was finishing love is just a four letter word...

  • @RadioJuicebox Nah he had already finished that at this time, he's typing something called alternatives to college.

  • Bob was probably thinking, "Bitch...shut up already." haha, just kidding. But who knows.

  • What does the ''Turn, turn, turn again...Turn, turn, to the rain and the wind.'' reference to? I mean, why is it being said? I've always wondered. Can someone please help me understand? Thanks.

  • @MichaelPalinFan2008 . I have wondered about this myself There is a video around when Dylon was asked what something meant and his reply was "It means nothing man" I think its best to just listen sometimes and dont try to go into it. It does sound good as if it should mean something though?

  • @MichaelPalinFan2008 The song he based the tune on was called "the rain and the wind"

  • Joan has the voice of an angel

  • Bob is just typing for the camera.

  • How is called the song that Joan Baez sing?

  • @cappellomatto95 It's called 'Percy's Song' :]

  • I wonder what song he's writing

  • @Dave897456 duhh your a friggin idiot learn how to read your history before you open your stupid big mouth

  • The Great Icon Zimmerman is a PIG

  • @elmerhdga why do you say that?

  • I wonder what lyrics Bob was typing there...

  • @TheAmphitrite What a bunch of crap! He is a musician, not some political wacko! He wrote songs and is still writing songs because that is what songwriters do! They write songs! LOL!

  • i think I'm one of the few people in the world who cannot stand Joan Baez' voice. I had to fast forward this while watching the dvd. Her voice just cuts through me (not in a good way).

  • in the beginning of this video, the face of Albert Grossmann is too funny :

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez Jesus! He asked her to accompany him on this tour! You're simplifying what was a complicated and competitive relationship.

  • what song is she singing?

  • @DiGfrankie

    Percy's song.

  • just noticed girl in the corner where does she go?

  • @timeshavechanged That's marianne faithfull

  • And one more time on this KILLER TAKE

  • I CANT STOP I Love this AND YOU 4 Posting it, this is a good time 2 get Bob look at him redoing his song YES YES YES I SO LOVE IT He is so KING I love this song she is singing I loved it when I fond this ONE MORE TIME LOVE 4 POSTING THE VID Good look Bro REAL GOOD

  • bob is so cute!!

  • Dylan a decade later come back to what he is writing in this clip with "Idoit Wind"

  • SO OUTSTANDING

  • He's typing in time to her playing. and being cold as hell.Dylan is rad.

  • BAEZ the folk queen serenades, and the only one rrr...grrr... OK, I am biting my finger now, along with my tongue...

  • Love is a form of mental illness ... seems pretty clear Dylan is doing everything he can to push her away without actually taking responsibility for doing so ...

  • lolol precious

  • Does anyone know the name of the song Joan is singing?

  • @macandcheese001 OF COURSE THE JOAN SING...."PERCY`S SONG" OF BOB DYLAN

  • Joan loved him at this point and probably still does.(She does an amazing impression of him btw!) Bob? Well, he is a hero of mine, and eff it, a genius, but who knows what goes on behind his self imposed shades.

  • Dylan was the only human being arrogant enough to type while Joanie sings.....

  • @surfstrat59 I'd be arrogant if I were him too. And, well, I'm pretty sure he know all the words to that song. ; ) You can write and listen to music though, I always put Dylan and the Beatles on my i tunes while I write essays for school.

  • @surfstrat59, Yeah, but he's probably writing a masterpiece while she's singing that song for the 100th time.

  • @surfstrat59 Well, the song she is singing was written by Bob Dylan... So, he can whatever the hell he wants to do.

  • @surfstrat59 He was on tour in 1965 and writing new material. She was a guest!

  • @surfstrat59 Hilarious when people speak in defense of someone who wouldn't even agree with the opinion being voiced. You have no idea what was going on at the time. Maybe he just listened to her sit and play 10 songs and wanted to do some writing. Was he supposed to sit on his hands all night?

  • @surfstrat59 you got that right

  • Why do you all talk about what was happening with their relationship, when you all should concentrate on the beautiful song - wrote by him - and the amazing breathtaking version she performs? There are some comments from people who really take this gift they gave us and enjoy full-hearted but those kind of comments should be from everybody!...beauty is rare, you know?

    Thanks for sofsteps for uploading

  • The blonde in the chair behind Dylan is Marianne Faithfull!

  • This is less about the end of a love affair with Joan and more about his lack of sentimentality for any music he wrote prior to this night. "The vagabond who's rapping at your door, is standing in the clothes that you once wore".

  • @crowjaney wow. you just changed my understanding of that song. it never made a lick of sense, but now...wow! thx for commenting on the www

  • Wow, you gotta give Dylan credit for night dying....Amphetamines may have helped him pump out three of the greatest Albums of all time...but they also caught up with him....Grossman was Joplin's manager too....if he hadn't had the "motorcycle accident" or....the "gotta get outta the rat race and slow down incident" he prolly woulda died.

  • typewriter bell at 0:40 is right in key

  • "Tell me once how this came to be/ it was manslaughter in the highest degree"

perfectly sums up joan and bob's relationship during this time. note dylan's utter disinterest with his back turned and typing.

  • Of course he's trying to type another classic and she's annoying him... Women......

  • @tadlee behind every man is an EVEN GREATER WOMAN!

  • @tadlee behind every great man is an EVEN GREATER WOMAN!!

  • I had no idea what was going on exactly during this. When i watched the dvd when I saw this scene I felt like bob didn't "give a shit" that she was playing like an angel for him.

  • what song is she singing?

  • @Hippiejovamamas Percy's Song. You can find it on Bob's Biograph album.

  • And thus, "Visions of Johanna" was born - that was the gain from the loss

  • And thus, "Visions of Johanna" was born

  • Dylan song.. he's digging, and writing something completely different. Genius in work.

  • I can only imagine what song Dylan was writing in this video. A genius at work.

  • @InsanelyINsane Search "Alternatives to college Dylan" on Google. I think it's the first link. That's what he was writing - you can see it in the documentary "65 Revisited". :~)

  • He's typing in time.

  • Amazing Song

  • Yo quiero que alguien me cante así mientras escribo :)

  • Poor Joan. She could not see, or would not accept, that Dylan had moved on. He was more famous than her, now. He didn't need her support any more. He was bored with their relationship. She was deeply hurt that he did not invite her to sing on stage with him on this tour of England. She had launched his career in America. Trying to get his attention by singing backstage was all she could do. Dylan was heading for mega-fame, and had already started an affair with the woman shortly to be his wife

  • @zzheavensdoor Yeah but remember she actually really regretted going with Bobby on that tour, because she could see that Dylan had moved on.

  • She should have put this on Farewell Angelina. Nobody can do it better than Queen Joan.

  • DYlan shoul have sticked to typing songs.

  • what is that song???? amazing.....

  • @chumkui999 The song is "Percy's Song," an outtake from Dylan's third album.

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez Well said good sir.

  • very sweet and gentle. It captures a moment completely.

  • joan's voice is amazing.

  • I need this on my iPod ;__;

  • This might all well be, but it's a great song!

  • looks like a nice wife creating an appropriate milieu for her bread-winning husband. lol bob's in the zone ...thats a great feeling. i get that sometimes when im doing research here on campus on something i love. genius flows in without any effort

  • Just simply amazing and they both seem so extremely casual. Best part of the movie I believe.

  • Bonjour, vous aimez les sixties ? écoutez et podcastez mon émission "le super son des 60's" sur le site de plumfm. You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.

  • a beautiful moment captured. Bob could be writing a song or a letter to a relative or friend, it must have been the best letter with Joan singing a beautiful familiar song.

  • what's the name of the song?

  • @skooleskool PERCYS SONG Y ES ORIGINAL DE BOB DYLAN

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez Also, what some people don't know is he actually first liked Mimi, Joan's younger sister, who was also very beautiful and a beautiful singer. (Sadly, she passed away too young from cancer). I love Dylan but I agree he could've been kinder to people who cared about him. I mean, who would wanna cheat on Joan Baez?!?!

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez Dear Joan, just move on...we all love you.

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez Poor Joan, Bob fucking Dylan married Sara . WTF !!!

  • @Mimiandjoaniebaez sad story!

  • I wish she recorded this ):

  • Realment interessant

  • I do a few good piano/guitar covers of Dylan tunes on my profile page1

  • i think i could watch Bob Dylan just type out songs for hours at a time....even if i didnt know what he was working on

  • The other woman sitting at the table is Marianne Faithful, a lovely singer who was a bit of a groupie in those times and was probably after Dylan's affections at the time, much to Joan's chagrin.

  • This is adorable in so many ways.

  • when i had first watched this, i thought that she was singing some old, traditional folk song and was surprised to find that Dylan had wrote it.

I think it was because of how young he looks in this video, hard to believe so much soul & sorrow could come out of such a young man.

and of course Joan just adds even more beauty to it <3

  • Name of this song : Percy's song also performed by Bob Dylan

  • Can anyone tell me whats the name or where i can find this exact song ? i really really like it , thanks x

  • @richardbeaton1 the name is Percy's song, written by Bob Dylan. You can find it on Biograph or just listen to it on DailyDoseOfDylan (browse the archive).

  • very powerful clip no speaking just a beautiful song , thanks for posting pace x

  • Bob Dylan touch typing? Lovely domestic bliss.

  • Pompas ass hole..

  • I thought it worth mentioning that Bob was supposedly in the middle of crafting "How Does It Feel" here.

  • anyone know what this film is? this video is just so sweet and simply romantic.

    totally love it.

  • @auroroa3508

    Movie " Don't Look Back " fuck'n good.

  • The song she's singing is acutally a Dylan song... It's called "Percy's Song" and was an outtake from the 1963 sessions for Dylan's third album, The Times They Are A-Changing

  • @tyco801 thanks dude! i actually like this song, cant wait to play it.

  • what song is she playing?

  • thats cuteee

  • What a magical moment to be sitting in the same room with a young Bob Dylan and Joan Baez,I just love it ,thank you.

  • Man, if they had kids, they'd have some big-nosed children. But with two beautiful people, it would be hard to make those kids ugly.

  • @haroldlovesmaude

two beautiful people. hard to make kids ugly Now we're not talking Brad and Angelina! Some people may think Bob is a genius (not I, but who's counting?)

But handsome? Much less as poster below says "hot,, etc" AHEM. He's as homely as Ringo Starr or Woody Allen. Nothing against homely, mind! Much less Jewish inward types, but - gimme a break about his S.A!

Joan is another story. She's not even pretty.. Just hauntingly, one of a kind bellissima.

  • poor gal.....so lost ! The fact is don't fall in love to a hot ,handsome

cool legendary man,he is a genius no body could have

    him maaaaannn....

  • @959up1up

    @haroldlovesmaude

"hot handsome..."?? Now we're not talking Brad and Angelina, here! Some people may think Bob is a genius (not I,, but who's counting?)

But handsome? AHEM. He's as homely as Ringo Starr or Woody Allen. Nothing against homely, mind! . Much less Jewish inward types, but - gimme a break about his S.A!

Joan is another story. She's not even pretty.. Just hauntingly, one of a kind beautiful.. No make up, no nose jobs, A Renaissance angel.

  • @13realitytest13 you say such idiotic things, bless your heart! when it comes to such great talents, looks really don't matter, BUT dylan is no woody, what is wrong with you? he's a beautiful man. Angelina is a hunting skeletor, full of botox. I do agree on your remarks regarding Joan. All in all, a man's inner beauty and talent cand be seen on his face

  • @13realitytest13 Brad?? Oooop WTF ! no way,the young baby face Bob Dylan is my dream man, sorry.

  • @13realitytest13 I do think those words match perfectly the environtment, not only, but as well her looks. She really look like a painted maiden back in those artistic idealistic times! :) Thumbs up!

  • painting in a cave

  • A magic moment of peace, song, and creativity. What I would give to have been in on that scene in the 60's or just to have coffee with Dylan (in his 60's days).

  • I agree with samhr1966: this is one fo those rare interludes in life, one of beauty and camaraderie and peace. This thing grows on you; I think I''ve played it five times already :) Ah, those old manual typewriters..

  • if you want dylans version of this its on the album biograph

  • The song she's singing is called " Percy's song " and it's from Dylan's album " The Times Are A-Changin' "

    Beautiful cover

  • @nomania Its not from The Times Are A-Changin' though ^^

  • Dylan didn't compose this melody. Paul Clayton either wrote or discovered it, and Dylan credited him with it.

  • sorry if this was asked before but what is the name of the documentary?

  • Don't Look Back

  • Joan sings a pretty song. Bob says, "That's nice, dear."

  • d.a. pennebaker, the guy who made the famous 1965 documentary "don't look back" about bob, which is what this clip is off of...come on man, get educated. lol =)

  • joan's voice is so amazing and inspiring. she gives me chills. :).

i love how bob is just typing away.

  • this documentary, i had to by it it's fantastic, is by far one of the better musical documentaries. i enjoy how the camera is just like a fly on the wall. no lame interviews, or backdrops, just dylan on tour with all the people around him. smoking and being amazing!

  • Why the original (longer) video was removed?

  • gablen23: Good Question. Sorta nice that Pennebaker gives us this snippet. --- following this Dylan, as Joanie, sort of fades away with this song, he says "Gee I wish I had finished that song." or something like that. Thus Joannie flies back to NYC in the morning and Dylan is free of her at last. All debts paid in full.

Marries Sarah a few months after this. I think I got this right. If not, someone correct me. In 60Minute Interview with Bradley he says, "I Was Blinded by Love Then"

  • is there some body who can tell us what is the title of this song?

  • Percy's Song. That's the title.

  • thank you so much gatsby

  • Joan is beautiful....

  • i'm so in love with boob dylan

  • Anyone know who is the man in the beginning of the video?

  • Albert Grossman, Bob's first manager

  • wasnt his first manager

  • I can't help, but wonder what song he was creating at that moment. You can tell he had music in his head and he was working out the lyrics. Amazing to watch that!!

  • Thanks for message about Dylan at the typewriter - I always notice how he is sitting straight and looks so serious. He cared about getting the songs right. The video says so much about him!

  • A priceless treasure.

  • This video has a neat, underyling kind of theme, like it's historically significant, and yet it's just two friends singing and writing songs together in their spare time. =)

  • It's unfortunate that JB never recorded this song on one of her albums.

  • you know..i really like her version much better

  • Bob Dylan learned the traditional song from Paul Clayton that has the refrain "Oh The Wind And The Rain'. Its sometimes called The Wind And The Rain. Fairport Convention and Judy Collins have recorded "Percy's Song".

  • Does anyone know if she ever recorded this song? so much better than dylans version

  • Yes, she recorded it on her album of Dylan songs called Any Day Now. There are several great tunes on it that Dylan hadn't recorded at the time including Love is Just a Four Letter Word which Bob never did record.

  • Are you sure? i didnt see percys song on the track listing anywhere. Is it under a different name or something?

  • Oops! Apparently my memory failed me. I haven't listened to that album for decades and for some reason remembered Percy's song as being on it. It ain't. Sorry. (Still a good album though)

  • joan baez played a huge part in getting bob dylan noticed in the folk scene in the sixties and was a huge part of the original scene before it became so mainstream, to say she hadn't experienced what he had is complete ignorance.

  • Dylan sang what ever he heard others sing about their experiences. Joan was worldly, well traveled and a visionary folk singer... Dylan experienced... Joan...

Yes she could have done opera, she could have done anything, except make the horse drink the water...

  • Dylan wrote this song, right? I wonder if he borrowed the melody. Anyone know?

  • Maybe she was actually driving him nuts and he couldn't type.

  • I wish so badly that I could read what he's typing.

  • What film is this from? This is taking my breath away.

  • there's a sequence of it in "No direction home". If you like Dylan and if you like this one, you will absolutely LOVE the film.

  • Actually it's Don't Look Back, the documentary No Direction Home is explaining this documentary. Funny, right?

  • Don't Look Back

  • As a massive Dylan fan I hate to say it, but Baez's version of Percy's Song here is a lot better than the one's I've heard Dylan do. Perhaps even better than the Fairport Convention cover which is pretty damn good itself.

  • Most people who cover dylans music do better versions like Hendrix all along the watchtower, The Byrds all i really wanna do and Manfred mann just like a woman. Im a big fan of dylans songwriting but never his voice.

  • Manfred Mann covered 'the mighty quinn' (quinn the eskimo).. Not 'just like a woman'.. It was richie havens who made that song his own.. No one on earth comes close!!

  • Bob's hair isn't parted and neat either..

that's his style. Bagpipes are shrill, sharp,

and flat, imperfect but soulful, Bob is a bagpipe.. that's by design and choice. I saw a tape once where he sang like

a Catholic Choirboy... perfect pitch and

    annunciation/no nasal twang which you'll

notice in and out of his voice anyway. I like Bagpipes and I like Dylan's voice

how it is.. BORING would be another

cookie cutter voice. Roll on Bob/Bagpipe!

  • don't take this the wrong way, but you are nuts.

  • Isn't this like telling me Im nuts because I

like Lime in my beer and you don't?... Taste is

subjective, so is style. Isn't calling me nuts

because I appreciate Dylan's style being a Bigot?.. and therefore an Asshole?

    Bigot-(noun) A person intolerantly devoted

to his own opinions. I'm guessing you've never held an exotic

woman in your arms that wasn't paid to be

there? .. Lions lay down with Lions not jackals. Moral strictness is cool. Stylistically don't be so

    tightly wrapped.

  • lime in your beer? that's not nuts, it's clinically insane.

  • I said don't take it the wrong way, I'm the biggest Dylan fan there is.....If someone calls you nuts just laugh about it.....what do you care if you are clinically insane, then it is fine with me...if you are a nobel prize winner in the category of sanity I wouldn't care either....just kinda don't it so seriously...I'm prolly just as crazy or nutty as you

  • What kind of artist wouldn't feed of such beauty.
