what is the main reason airplane are still super expensive to purchase? how long before the price drops rapidly and airplane become as cheap as an average used family car. i think its about time. when you think of the amount of materials used in the construction of these aircraft it certainly isnt expensive due to materials. is it mainly due to the lack of popularity? if GA aircraft were as popular as cars then im gussing the price would drop. i think the price will drop rapidly in future
ya man. i am 14 right know and i am getting mine this summer at jim long avation.we have a 150 but is selling it to get a 177 cardinal or some thing bigger
@BambiEatWorld Yes, it's smooth. The turbulence makes the plane bounce around a bit more, but since you're not moving as fast, it's not as terrible. The prop doesn't make it not smooth, it's just a consistent vibration, but you really don't notice it at all.
Help plzz I heard you need some medical certificat to become a pilot I heard there are 3 classes witch is for private pilot liscense and what is a medical certificate do u have to pass a test To write? Or does the doctor or who ever check ur helth if it's in good shape please tell me please abd thank you
Hey, not to burst your bubble, but flying a real plane is immensely different than flying a simulator. Yes, you learned how to read instruments and you understand navigation, but actually flying a plane is much different.
@jrusso7660 I'm not a real pilot, but I play one on Flight Simulator. FS is definitely a good primer, a great way to grasp concept of flight without the risk. You may have heard of that stupid kid from Seattle last September who taught himself to fly on FS, stole a Cessna 182 from Idaho, flew it over by Everett and crashed it.
No I didn't hear that story, but judging on the people who think they are real pilots cause they can fly Microsoft Flight Simulator here on YouTube, it doesn't surprise me. At one point, I thought I could fly anything because I could fly in Flight Simulator. Then I took my first flight lesson and I noticed how different everything is. The feeling of negative and positive g's. The effect of the wind. The updraft from the land below you, etc...
Exactly. I would love to see the look on one of these "Flight Sim Pilots" faces the first time they experience a large wind gust and the plane crabs with adverse yaw at 2500 feet. I'm sure the "Oh Shit" look would be priceless. I know I had it the first time.
There is no set number of hours before a student's solo flight. You require 1) an endorsement from your instructor in your log book. and 2) a Student Pilot Certificate, which is normally issued by an FAA Medical Examiner together with a Third Class Medical Certificate.
Your instructor will decide when the time is right and before you get to that point, you will need to get your medical certificate.
You do that once you are up at cruise altitude and speed, bring power back, bring the prop back (on a constant speed propeller equipped aircraft) and lean the mixture to use less fuel. On takeoff especially on a short field you need every bit of power you can get.
Aircraft like the 172 have a mixture control for the carburetor. (typically red, in FSX you can drag it with the mouse) Leaning it means adjusting it for less fuel. The engine has an Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) gauge and you watch that as you lean the mixture. Once the EGT peaks, you enrichen the mixture until the EGT goes down a bit. The amount you have to enrich the mixture depends on the engine.
if you fly a cessna, you should see a red knob next to the throttle. it controls the fuel-air mixture in the engine, and changing the mixture can make it more or less efficient. when you get your private you will learn more about it, but it is hard to manipulate in fsx since it is a little more difficult to see your rpms
depends on the plane really, some planes require alot rudder. some dont, ive been flying a plane that needs full rudder in takeoff and still goes to the left so I had to start on the right side of the runway hehe
fayik123, in a real aircraft such as the 172, you apply just enough right rudder to keep the aircraft on the centerline of the runway. Once airborne you have to keep that rudder applied during a climb to compensate for torque effect.
Same here! I 13 too but my dad has his private pilots and he rents planes out of Hanscom (KBED) in MA. I've been going up with him for 9 years or so. I went up 10/4/08 and I did two takeoffs, one with throttle one witouth and I handled most of the raidos at unicoms. shumck50 do you have paywares on FS?
No, you don't *have* to do IFR flights because of astigmatism. According to the FARs, if you have corrective lenses that aid in your eyesight during daylight hours, then you're good to go. I've NEVER heard of that limitation before. It's like the FAA saying that I can't fly with my hearing aids, unless I can somehow modify them so that I can hear everything, even the pinging of the valves when the engine's shut off. Ask an AME, and you'll find out that corrective lenses are what they look for.
Great job! I like the way you kept your spot on the runway the same place all the way in on the windscreen and then let the plane land its self. That always makes for a smooth touchdown!
its interesting... new c172 is 400k+ however... 2 years old they drop almost 50%... im not sure to get one older but could be less relyable... or to get one new but more expensive...
The 152 and the 172 look alike, but you can tell the difference right away. The 152 is smaller, has a smaller engine, lower useful load, smaller fuel tanks, ect. I have flown both and prefer the 172 greatly.
no, 400,000 rubles!!! j/k.... it was my mistake... I had it confused with a NEW 182 ... TURB0.... please forgive me... and step away from the ledge... don't jump, ok? It's not worth it... have a nice day
The Cessna 182 is very similar to the 172 however it has 230 horsepower (an upgrade of 50 from the 172) and a constant-speed propeller, and it is slightly bigger, holds more fuel, and has a higher useful load.
It's also consider a high performance a/p and those with retractable ldg gear a complex a/p, some older 182 incop both system and you need a complex and high performance endorsement respectively to log PIC time.
to the previous commenter: you really should call the police and turn in whover was holding the gun to your head making you watch this video :) And to the pilot: weren't you coming in too low and fast at landing? I didn't hear any stall indicator when you touched. Still pretty sweet..have fun flying
canubelieve, u know there is a unsaid rule that you should not judge other pilots landings we all have landings that are to fast once in a while, i'm not looking for a fight i'm just saying :)
Nice landing.
