You made an excellent choice in a defensive pistol. The CM9 is a bit easier to conceal, but you do give up one round in the mag. Consider yourself well armed.
@JPBill2 i agree.. i've owned mine for 4+ yrs and its my daily carry weapon (and it handles the heavy grain JHP ammo no problem).. you lose some of the bling of the pm9 but when your life is at stake..beauty don't factor into it (and after well over 1000 rnds. i've not had one failure - and thats with cheap winchester white box ball range ammo...)
The only change that I made to mine was to replace the front sight with a trijicon night sight. A Pachmayr slip on rubber grip will eliminate the grip problem. I've put more than 300 rounds through mine with just one FTE and that occurred within the first 25 rounds put through the gun.
Hey nice review, very nice to see a review from someone that doesn't claim to be a expert in every weapon and sticks to the point. And stfu to everyone that bitches when then don't see a weapon cleared on film. I'm going to review some guns and make sure they are loaded just to piss you all off.
I originally purchased this for my wife. We have since put close to a thousand rounds through this little guy and aside from a couple FTE's way back when it was new it has proven as a very solid, reliable, and accurate gun. Highly recommend the AGrip as well, it feels very secure and covers the heavy stippling
Im having feeding issues with the CW9. Its not magazine related as it has happened w kahr mag, and promag. Rounds seem to almost wedge on the feed ramp. The ramp is also smooth. Help a brotha out!
yankeemarshal good video i had a cw9 and let bad info caose me to sell it and replace it with keltecpf9 its a good gun but i will get another cw9 thanks for the great advice
It's been over 2 years now since you've posted this clip. Was wondering if you've found that it's held up fairly well and been durable all this time (assuming you've still got it). Seems like with polymer-framed handguns, there's quite a spread in long-term durability, for example, Glocks apparently last forever in contrast to Kel-Tecs which don't put well with very high round counts.
What's with all the fanny pack hate? I have a fanny pack that looks like a gun holster for motorcycle riding. I'm holding out for the cm9, everyone seems to be out of stock. I might check my local gun shop and see if they have a cw9 for a good price. Not sure I need the smaller size of the cm9. I currently carry a M&P 9c, but it's heavy with a full clip and it's bulky.
Agreed! Some things are implied, like the gun being unloaded while you give a review on youtube. I imagine watching safety nazis clean their guns is a riot. I think the fanny pack is a solid way to carry concealed as well, functional and practical. Appreciate the review, considering this gun.
@tedgrandpre your personal insecurities are not my problem. I hope you did not expect me to care. Maybe when you are old enough you might think differently.
@IJNUclear2009 why in the world would I ever ask their permission? Unless the building is legally posted as not allowing firearms I do not have to ask them. If it is posted all they can do is ask me to leave if caught. there is no criminal penalty in my state for violating the signs at a private business...as long as I leave when asked.
@TheYankeeMarshal and in your defence, I remember not too long ago hearing about this guy who shot a bunch of people at his local gym. LA Fitness in PA, Aug 4, 2009. Sonofabitch shot 13 people, killing 4 before commiting suicide. So, yeah, I don't blame you one bit.
You may get a bit more velocity from the poly barrel, but I doubt that you'll find any difference in practical accuracy. The CW-9 is a defensive pistol. It's not intended to be a target pistol. I like everything about the Kahr pistols except the price. You made a good choice.
i am torn between a glock 23 or a kahr in 40sw? but i want a all around gun for the range, concealed carry, and home defence what would be your suggestion for me. thanks
@jdclvlnd I own a G23 as well as a Kahr PM40. The PM40 is a far better gun for CC. The G23 is better for the range and HD. i would say the G23 is a better "all around" gun.
Actually they are Sig style or Von Stavenhagen style sights. The Heinie's are a little different as they focus on a deep rear notch and a narrow front sight with plenty of light on either side and normally use a two dot setup.
I guess I go to a half way decent gym to where I don't need to carry. Anytime I see a fanny pack the first thought is heroin or gun it's just me. Look into a kholster.com still a good review

@ohiodragndime I have to agree. I can't workout wearing a gun and cars in the lot get broken into. Still a good review. I carry my CW in the waist band of my gym shorts.
@vash241987 It is alot different. Although both guns have similar firing mechanisms the Kahr is much more like a long, smooth DA pull. It is like firing a very good hammerless revolver...only smoother.
@TheYankeeMarshal thanks will have to see if my local shop has one. I was not that bad with the PPS, but the trigger felt stagey and really was not that smooth. Geez I kinda wish I found this gun before I got the PPS :P
Great review. Any thoughts you could offer, comparing this gun to the Kahr PM9? You look like you have pretty good sized hands, as do I, and I'm concerned the PM9 will be hard to shoot because I could only get 2 fingers around the grip.
My dad has one of those. Fun little thing, but I assume throwing a rock with (in my case) your left hand would be more accurate. Never quite shoots where you aim, though it packs quite the wallop.
@Dragonfuzz66 Either you or your dad must be horrific shots or have a defective gun. Mine is very accurate. Mine easily shoots 3" groups at 10 yards off hand.
Hi, would you be willing to do a quick and dirty side by side size comparison between one of these and a Beretta PX4 Storm? (9mm F). I would be eternally gratefull!
@d1g1man the Storm is so big it'd be almost criminal to even call it a CCW (although soon the Type F .45 will be mine)...I've been wanting a side-by-side between the PM45 & CW45
@thehotsixer I wish I was sane enough to own only one gun. My personal collection usually fluctuates anywhere between 30 to 50 guns at any given time. Heck, I have added three (Ruger SR9c, SIG P250c, and SIG P250sc in the past month. I did sell one too though (Springer XD-40SC).
@sungwei9 I prefer the all steel pistols, buit the polymer Kahrs are great to shoot. The recoil is easily manages and the gun points very naturally. The all steel versions tend to be heavier and thicker (due to tthe grip panels) but they are still thin and easily carried. I own an MK40 and a K40 and really like both. In the end I carry my PM40 most because of the weight and thin profile.
@sungwei9 I think it holds it's own against both guns but it does not equal them. The PM9 is smaller and a little more polished and the K9 is all steel and quite a bit easier to shoot. For the money it is great though. Both of the other guns are pricier.
can you or someone else please upload a vid of how to use this gun? show how it loads....how to loan first bullet. how to ejevt bullets and take out mag...etc. i am a newbie thanks
I have the P40, 6+1 rds. Much like PM40, but it has about 1/2 inch longer barrel and grip. The shape/size looks like your CW9. I notice the very steep feed ramp, so works best with tapered ammo tips, Hornady and Winch PDX1. I hear you on grip pain! Sharp stippling. I put 1/2 Kahr rubber decal grip on upper grip panels, then I slid on Hogue Handall Jr. for the bottom, it is great. Covers stippling. Slight bulge. More comfort, better feel, more secure grip. Should order another grip for backup.
The front sight is.....PLASTIC. I have this gun, and the ONLY pro is its concealability. The slide rides on two tiny slivers set into the front of the frame and the rail is....PLASTIC. The trigger is smooth as silk but my LCP 380 is more accurate than my CW9. Kahr's customer service also sucks BIGTIME. Google "Kahr customer service" and read the blog posts. See for yourself. Just my HO.
i want a gun. cant get one. to young. not like im not old enough to b responsible with it. im not gunna go in the streets n fuckin shoot people. that stupid ruine your life. but can anyone help me get one??/for targets.sort of like this one
I have the Kahr CW.45, and I liove it! Well worth MORE than it cost. I've had one jam, and one FTF. in the first 200 rounds, and the falure to feed was my fault. Diden't get the clip in all the way. Never had a problim after that. Another plus is it is super simple to brake down and clean. There is a take down video on the kahr website. Also, I know what you mean about the grip, it is really rough, but they sell a non-slip "air grip" on the site also that will take care of that problim.
@SupremeAmerican Yup.The pf9 is no where near as finished as the cw9, but it's got metal where it matters and in my experience is more accurate.I'd buy the pf9 and spend the remaining $100 on ammo if I could do it all over.My cw9 also sloughs off grimy plastic residue from the top rail and grooves....the action between the top slide and frame lossened up to the point of being sloppy after about 500 rounds. The only thing my cw9 has going for it is finish, concealability, and a smooooth trigger.
i've got over 1500 rounds through my CW9. I've never had a single shooting malfunction and its still as accurate as ever. The trigger is butter smooth.
I did have one quality issue: the little white bar on the rear sight "flaked" off during the course of fire. I contacted Kahr, sent it off, and had a new rear sight within a week.
I couldn't be happier with this gun. I carry it concealed and think its the perfect combination of quality, accuracy, weight and price.
I am definately going to use this as my main summertime CCW. Easy to carry and conceal...doesn't punish your hand like the Kel-Tec PF-9. Easy follow up shots. Carry an extra mag loaded with some 124 gr. +P 9mm. It'll do the job. Even standard pressure 9mm will do the job. Whichever you feel comfortable carrying and shooting. Good review Yankee Marshall.
Need to SPICE IT UP...jazz up your presentation...too easy to lose interest in what you are saying...although what you say is factual...show business!!!
I have the same gun and put on a Hogue rubber grip and it makes the world of difference. I use it as my everyday carry in either a pocket holster or a WRB IWB holster. The Kahr 8 round mags fit this gun also. I bought two of those and an extra 7 round so I can swap out my mags to relieve the springs. I carry the gun with the 7 round mag in the gun and the 8 round as a spare mag.
Hey Yankee Marshal Nice video on the Kahr, try sanding the rough sections of the grip with some 400 sand paper then go to a finer paper. I did this on a glock and you cant even tell where I re worked it. the color is in the poly and it blends in and with a littlw use sweatm oil from your hands etc you will never to tell it was sanded down Good luck with the new pistol
how many rounds through the gun so far? have you had any problems since you got it? any failures at all? Im thinking about getting one cause my g23 is kind of thick?
@TheYankeeMarshal I recommend you buy a steel spring pin. The one in this model kahr is plastic. look it up, or look at you pin after 200 rounds (it gets chewed). If you want one go to kahrshop.com. I recommend it.
FANNY PACK!!!!!!! Lmfao lol lol lol are you serious?!!! You really carry your gun in a fanny pack?? Ha ha ha ha ha ha and you even showed a picture of you wearing your fanny pack and daisy dukes. lol lol lol WHat real man wears a fanny pack as a way of conceal carry? Tooooooooo funny!!!!!
@rolling9657 They are not "daisy dukes"...they are called gym shorts. You might not recognize the since I doubt they make them in "home bound" sizes. :)
PS: Fanny packs are great for the gym. The gym is that place people who can actually get off their couches go to work out.
@rolling9657 Yes funny guy, seriously you don't have a clue & if you don't conceal carry a real weapon you wouldn't know. Please keep your un-informed comments to yourself if you have no clue or no idea of what it takes to conceal carry on a daily basis.
First off, Fuck you very much sir. I do have a clue about carrying a conceal weapon. I like to use a more manly way of carrying my Karh cw3, its called a IWB holster. I don't feel that threaten at the gym to carry it there. I conceal my gun on a daily basis so trying to defend carrying a fanny pack makes me think you carry one too!!! It's ok if you like fanny packs. Do you own coochie cutter too? lol FANNY PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bhaaaaaaaaa lol lol!!!
This gun is an AMAZING value. It brings about all the reliability of Kahrs, yet saves you a few hundred dollars. It's great for a rugged carry gun.
I'd own one myself, but I'm not a fan of the Kahr triggers, it's too much like shooting a revolver as YankeeMarshall says, that can be good for some, but I dislike that type of trigger weight.
But, yeah, for no-nonsense self-defense, this gun is very reliable and a great value.
I picked one up today. Ran 50 ball rounds and 50 hollow point rounds through it without a prob. Very light gun. The kick was barely there, sights were dead on, and the trigger was very smooth. Great gun so far.
you should DEFINITELY pick up a "Hogue" rubber slip on grip. i got mine for 10 bucks at a local gunshow. it has One indentation for inbetween the middle and ring finger and that's basically it. a tiny bit of rubber stipling on the sides, and it covers the agressive checkered backstrap. look into it, i will say that i shoot better after installing the grip. cheers
Nice review man !!! I just came from the gun fair here in miami and i was looking for a kahr to join my collection !! i heard a lot about the PM9 and i want it to feel it, but i was wondering about the CW9/P9 version fits a little bit better in my hands and i came up with your video wich help me a lot !! Thank you !!!! ruger LCP as my ankle/pocket gun, taurus judge/mossberg 500 tactical as home protection and i need a waist gun .. so kahr might be !! AGAIN THANK YOU !
Wow, that's kinda funny I came across this vid of yours.. I'm torn between a CW9 and a PPS as my next EDC, and this just made it harder. I'll probably just have to go try out each one myself.
As some have said in some of the earlier comments, I'm a smaller guy, looking for a thin single stack that will be easier to conceal than a considerably thicker "brick", sub-compact XD, Glock, or S&W M&P. I'll just always carry 1 or 2 extra mags to make up for that capacity!
Thanks for this vid. I had one of these as my first firearm. It was a very good pistol and a great carry weapon. I just couldn't shoot the thing worth a darn. Probably my inexperience coupled with that long double action trigger. (I'm somewhat better now). But I would like to fire one now and see how I do. Good video.

Looks like a glock. My glock costs are only $480. You couldn't find a glock you liked? They are the standard for sure. I realize their are other good pistols on the market , but why not have the best, most reliable there is for just $75 more?
Not about cost brother..its about your Glock carrying like a brick vs. carrying a Kahr that is comfortable to carry. The only gun that saves your life if the one you have with you...thinner..lighter...Yeah, Kahr is the real deal.
I carry the baby glocks only when I'm concerned about concealment, I'm also a tall full build man so I guess to some the glock can seem heavy but not to me. In my state, NC, its common to see guys carrying full size slide guns on the hip open carry at your grocery store, walmart, etc. However, the looks of the kahr are appealing, I often find myself staring at Taurus semi autos also
Yep, even carrying the baby Glocks doesn't reduce width..its just a cut down full size Glock. Hearing you are a bigger guy makes more sense though about your preferences. I'm a small frame dude that would look silly trying to hide a glock on my waist. That is the point though..everyone is different sized..so you just can't say "Glock" for everyone. btw..NC huh? I like the idea that both of us are carrying in the same state..that way when my Kahr shits the bed, you got my back! :)
u know what, ive just found a slight love 4 fanny packs LMAO sike naw but that one is cool with the hidden holster. NE way i love these little guns...ive only knew about the Kahr pistols for a few years but i love them...
nice video, alot of questions answered. i held this gun in one of my local shops today and loved it, i also really like the look. i thought it was cheap but after hearing what u paid i feel like they are ripping me off charging 549.00 (but im in california). i still cant make my mind up as this or glock 26. but thanks 4 the vid!
To address a few questions...now that I have had it for awhile I am really liking the gun more and more. I have been carrying it a lot lately when riding my Motorcycle. As for how it compares to my PM9, the CW9 is a great good but the PM9 is really a marvel. The PM9 is so small, accurate, and easy to shoot that it puts almost all other polymer guns to shame.
Does anyone know if rear sights like this one are interchangable? In other words could I slide this sight out and slide in a rear sigtht for a Glock 19? I love my Glock sights...
I wouldn't even compare the two, both are great guns but they serve different purposes. The MP9 is much much smaller than the CW9 however it's accuracy is almost as good. I have a video of me firing one on my profile.
I just bought one. $429 was the best I could find, when I found one. Accuracy is just as good as any gun of its size, I don't mind the less finished slide, I don't mind the MIM slide release, I don't mind the standard rifling. But... there needs to be a way to get a new front sight. Glock front sights are steaked on, so I'm suprised the aftermarker has not come up with something yet.
I bought mine a year ago and completely LOVE it . Very relyable, and excellent for conceal carry. So slim it fits in the small of my back with comfort and ease. Offers the concealabilty of a "mouse gun" with the nice stopping power of a 9mm.
Dude. Kahr has a rap around grip for the cw 45. I installed one on my 45. Love it. It gets rid of the cheese grater back strap feel. I'm sure they have it for the nine also. Try it, you won't be sorry. And it's only about $25.00.... Take care.
Excellent review.I recently picked one up as a general carry for those days I dont want to carry my revolver. These guns are advertised as "the thinnest 9mm" made to date, so yes, it is smaller than your PPS.
I ended up grabbing a couple of extra mags and a set of Pearce grip extensions when I purchased mine and still paid less than I wouldve for a Glock... nothing against Glocks though.
You made an excellent choice in a defensive pistol. The CM9 is a bit easier to conceal, but you do give up one round in the mag. Consider yourself well armed.

d1g1man 1 year ago
@d1g1man the Storm is so big it'd be almost criminal to even call it a CCW (although soon the Type F .45 will be mine)...I've been wanting a side-by-side between the PM45 & CW45

thehotsixer 1 year ago
@thehotsixer I wish I was sane enough to own only one gun. My personal collection usually fluctuates anywhere between 30 to 50 guns at any given time. Heck, I have added three (Ruger SR9c, SIG P250c, and SIG P250sc in the past month. I did sell one too though (Springer XD-40SC).

How do you think this compares to the K9 an MK9?
sungwei9 1 year ago
@sungwei9 I prefer the all steel pistols, buit the polymer Kahrs are great to shoot. The recoil is easily manages and the gun points very naturally. The all steel versions tend to be heavier and thicker (due to tthe grip panels) but they are still thin and easily carried. I own an MK40 and a K40 and really like both. In the end I carry my PM40 most because of the weight and thin profile.
TheYankeeMarshal 1 year ago
@sungwei9 I think it holds it's own against both guns but it does not equal them. The PM9 is smaller and a little more polished and the K9 is all steel and quite a bit easier to shoot. For the money it is great though. Both of the other guns are pricier.
TheYankeeMarshal 1 year ago
can you or someone else please upload a vid of how to use this gun? show how it loads....how to loan first bullet. how to ejevt bullets and take out mag...etc. i am a newbie thanks
chunderbunder1 1 year ago
I have the P40, 6+1 rds. Much like PM40, but it has about 1/2 inch longer barrel and grip. The shape/size looks like your CW9. I notice the very steep feed ramp, so works best with tapered ammo tips, Hornady and Winch PDX1. I hear you on grip pain! Sharp stippling. I put 1/2 Kahr rubber decal grip on upper grip panels, then I slid on Hogue Handall Jr. for the bottom, it is great. Covers stippling. Slight bulge. More comfort, better feel, more secure grip. Should order another grip for backup.
mokyan7 1 year ago
The front sight is.....PLASTIC. I have this gun, and the ONLY pro is its concealability. The slide rides on two tiny slivers set into the front of the frame and the rail is....PLASTIC. The trigger is smooth as silk but my LCP 380 is more accurate than my CW9. Kahr's customer service also sucks BIGTIME. Google "Kahr customer service" and read the blog posts. See for yourself. Just my HO.

TheBVRTV 1 year ago
I have the Kahr CW.45, and I liove it! Well worth MORE than it cost. I've had one jam, and one FTF. in the first 200 rounds, and the falure to feed was my fault. Diden't get the clip in all the way. Never had a problim after that. Another plus is it is super simple to brake down and clean. There is a take down video on the kahr website. Also, I know what you mean about the grip, it is really rough, but they sell a non-slip "air grip" on the site also that will take care of that problim.

u got ripped off. Shoulda gotten a keltec pf9 for 230. better gun too.
SupremeAmerican 1 year ago
@SupremeAmerican Yup.The pf9 is no where near as finished as the cw9, but it's got metal where it matters and in my experience is more accurate.I'd buy the pf9 and spend the remaining $100 on ammo if I could do it all over.My cw9 also sloughs off grimy plastic residue from the top rail and grooves....the action between the top slide and frame lossened up to the point of being sloppy after about 500 rounds. The only thing my cw9 has going for it is finish, concealability, and a smooooth trigger.
homeostasis4me 1 year ago
I just got mine today, and i can't wait to test it out.
themyth117 1 year ago
What state are you in just curious for the price.
gamerguy1991 1 year ago
i've got over 1500 rounds through my CW9.
I carry it concealed and think its the perfect combination of quality, accuracy, weight and price.

are the mags interchangeable between the CW9 and the PM9?
jkatz44 1 year ago
I am definately going to use this as my main summertime CCW. Easy to carry and conceal...doesn't punish your hand like the Kel-Tec PF-9. Easy follow up shots. Carry an extra mag loaded with some 124 gr. +P 9mm. It'll do the job. Even standard pressure 9mm will do the job. Whichever you feel comfortable carrying and shooting. Good review Yankee Marshall.

@TheYankeeMarshal I recommend you buy a steel spring pin. The one in this model kahr is plastic. look it up, or look at you pin after 200 rounds (it gets chewed). If you want one go to kahrshop.com. I recommend it.

rolling9657 1 year ago
@rolling9657 They are not "daisy dukes"...they are called gym shorts. You might not recognize the since I doubt they make them in "home bound" sizes. :)
PS: Fanny packs are great for the gym. The gym is that place people who can actually get off their couches go to work out.

@rolling9657 Yes funny guy, seriously you don't have a clue & if you don't conceal carry a real weapon you wouldn't know. Please keep your un-informed comments to yourself if you have no clue or no idea of what it takes to conceal carry on a daily basis.
sirjohn113 1 year ago

Great gun so far.

you should DEFINITELY pick up a "Hogue" rubber slip on grip. i got mine for 10 bucks at a local gunshow. it has One indentation for inbetween the middle and ring finger and that's basically it. a tiny bit of rubber stipling on the sides, and it covers the agressive checkered backstrap. look into it, i will say that i shoot better after installing the grip. cheers

I realize their are other good pistols on the market , but why not have the best, most reliable there is for just $75 more?
airbornemp19 2 years ago
Not about cost brother..its about your Glock carrying like a brick vs. carrying a Kahr that is comfortable to carry. The only gun that saves your life if the one you have with you...thinner..lighter...Yeah, Kahr is the real deal.
lar1517 2 years ago
I carry the baby glocks only when I'm concerned about concealment, I'm also a tall full build man so I guess to some the glock can seem heavy but not to me. In my state, NC, its common to see guys carrying full size slide guns on the hip open carry at your grocery store, walmart, etc. However, the looks of the kahr are appealing, I often find myself staring at Taurus semi autos also
airbornemp19 2 years ago
Yep, even carrying the baby Glocks doesn't reduce width..its just a cut down full size Glock. Hearing you are a bigger guy makes more sense though about your preferences. I'm a small frame dude that would look silly trying to hide a glock on my waist. That is the point though..everyone is different sized..so you just can't say "Glock" for everyone. btw..NC huh? I like the idea that both of us are carrying in the same state..that way when my Kahr shits the bed, you got my back! :)

I love my Glock sights...
toddallenhooper 2 years ago
Hey PP, how would you compare it to the PM9? Do you prefer to carry the PM9 over this?
crystalera1 2 years ago
I wouldn't even compare the two, both are great guns but they serve different purposes. The MP9 is much much smaller than the CW9 however it's accuracy is almost as good. I have a video of me firing one on my profile.

Thandk helped me make up my mine to buy the Kahr CW 9
1228658 2 years ago
I just bought one. $429 was the best I could find, when I found one. Accuracy is just as good as any gun of its size, I don't mind the less finished slide, I don't mind the MIM slide release, I don't mind the standard rifling. But... there needs to be a way to get a new front sight. Glock front sights are steaked on, so I'm suprised the aftermarker has not come up with something yet.
littleflappy 2 years ago
I bought mine a year ago and completely LOVE it . Very relyable, and excellent for conceal carry. So slim it fits in the small of my back with comfort and ease. Offers the concealabilty of a "mouse gun" with the nice stopping power of a 9mm.
V4NH4L3N07 2 years ago
Dude. Kahr has a rap around grip for the cw 45. I installed one on my 45. Love it. It gets rid of the cheese grater back strap feel. I'm sure they have it for the nine also. Try it, you won't be sorry. And it's only about $25.00.... Take care.
sully359 2 years ago
Excellent review.I recently picked one up as a general carry for those days I dont want to carry my revolver. These guns are advertised as "the thinnest 9mm" made to date, so yes, it is smaller than your PPS.
I ended up grabbing a couple of extra mags and a set of Pearce grip extensions when I purchased mine and still paid less than I wouldve for a Glock... nothing against Glocks though.
