But Devildriver is more Groove Metal. And I wouldn't really consider Six Feet Under as Death Metal either, but at the same time I still like them both.

Do not delve into deathcore. The only metalcore bands you need worry about are Between The Buried and Me, and good ol' Converge.

You want good music, stay out of the metalcore genres.

I am mostly a tech-death fan.. so some death metal bands I would refer you to are FIRSTLY... the mighty Atheist... and then Necrophagist, Decrepit Birth, Spawn of Possession, Severed Savior, Gorod, Pitbulls in The Nursery, Disavowed, and Odious Mortem. Oh and Hieronymus Bosch from Russia.

derek roddy is was the drummer. he is actually one of the best drummers around. last year he was invited to modern drummer festival. he was the first extreme drummer to be inducted in that event. his personal youtube account is MrObsidian. he has a more refined style of playing now, but its still incredible.
