  • Christopher Lee plays a good guy for a change

  • Plz upload this

  • I've seen this movie, and as an almost original screenplay, I enjoyed it, but it strayed a great deal from the original story. No spiders, for instance. And Holmes doesn't get caught in a cave in.

I will never understand why people want to make a movie based on a book and then re-write everything!

Lee's second version, done for the BBC was better, IMO, but my favorite versions of Hound are the one with Jeremy Brett and the one with Tom Baker, both of which stuck way closer to the book!

  • @ghostfanX2 Well, you could argue that since there have been so MANY adaptations of this story they were trying to do something to stand out more.

  • Is this movie any good?

  • @TenderTrap86 Indeed!

  • Lee's expression at 0:30!!!

  • oooh, so horrible! I never seen this film, but it mb interesting. It's Beryl in violet dress, isn't she?

  • i have not seen this in years, have to put this on my rental list now...

  • this movies awesome

  • Peter Cushing plays the best Scherlock Holmes!! A very good movie!!!

  • COOL!!! I have a question, i'm reading this book at school and i play the part of Kathy Stapleton, is she the badguy??????

  • I don't want to spoil anything but you have interesting instincts there. You know what I mean when you get to the conclusion.

  • there is no Kathy Stapleton, its Beryl Stapleton .

  • she isn't exaclty a "bad guy" but there are mysteries that suround her...

  • Definately the best rendering of the story until Brett too the roll in the 80s and light years ahead of the crappy Universal version in the 40s.

  • I think it's a great movie. One of my favorite versions of this classic story. The best story ever written :)

  • thats such a bad movie! i really love the mystery of the hound of the baskervilles though...i leaves you thinking...

  • Ah, the golden age of cinema...:)

  • The overall cast with Christopher Lee and Andre Morrell really makes this a masterpiece from Hammer

  • Great stuff. A shame audiences never took to it and Hammer's plans for the Holmes series fell through. Lee is a bit different than usual, but Cushing is pitch-perfect, a positively brilliant Holmes. Great to see the trailer in color, as for some reason the R1 DVD has it in black and white.

  • As there are so many remakes these days, this gem must be due for a remake with Michael Caine and Jude Law, or Tom Cruise and Al Pacino, or ........... I don't even want to think about it !!

  • The best verson of this story!

  • "For heaven's sake, which way?!@#$" XD

  • Love that "Arg.." the last second, and the drawing caus they dared not show how stupid that dog looked :P

  • Peter was such a brilliant Holmes - I got all his films, & I got all the Holmeses ever made... no bragging intended, I'm just a devoted fan...

  • Love those Hammers,

It's not 100 percent faithfull to the Conan Doyle novel

But it's still a hell of a good film.

  • Oh dear god,

Well wasn't there some version with that goofball what's his name

    who played Max Headroom?

  • Matt Frewer- He's gonna be Moloch the Mystic in the new Watchmen movie.

  • One of Hammer's best, and Cushing was one of the finest Holmeses ever in that film. Trailer looks stunning!
