Fantastic machine! I love finding old machinery and bringing them back to life. It would be best to leave this as it is. I only paint machines if they are total rust buckets with no original paint left intact.
A friend has restored one, and it runs very well. His was converted to a ride on.
He has another, that I maybe restoring, and it needs handles. did you replace yours, if so, how did you get the oak to bend? And what part of the country do you live?
@Chesterb777 The handles are just regular wooden plow handles that are bought the way you see them. They are not hard to find. Just Google "plow handles" and you'll find quite a few suppliers. I live near Cleveland, Ohio.
Is the cultivator the only attachment you have. I bet she would turn over a nice row with a moldboard. I love the old stuff, but I put it to work. Those old boys knew how to put in a garden.
Motor sounds great, no knock, no clatter. I bet that it would really work ground in a big garden. I use a David Bradley to cultivate and it doesnt have traction worth a hoot.
The engine is all new inside. Bored and sleeved, the whole works! I know what you mean about the David Bradley tractors. They need about 500lbs added to them!!
do you think you could show it in action actually cultivating? and this looks just like the one in this months farm collector magazine. is that yours in the magazine?
cool thanks this is an awsome machine! im working on a 1949 roto-ette model t the rototiller that would evolve into the
troy-bilt! it is in good shape mecanically. but the ols model 8 briggs has issues. so im going to stick my running model 8 briggs from my parts roto-ette model t on it. i dont even know where my grandfather would have found these. but i saw one of those flex treds in the magazine and wonderd if it was yours looked the same to me!
my great grandpa had a standard monarch garden tractor. it was always parked under a small overhang off the side of the chicken coop. no one knows when the last time it ran was. unfortunatly it sold when the farms contence were auctiond off.

That's a old Wisconsin engine isn't it? AHH?
Sidetracker 2 years ago
The engine was built by Vaughan, but it's a real close copy of a Wisconsin AHH. In fact, some parts will interchange.

I also have a moldboard plow and a set of discs for it. The discs have a platform in the center that you stand on and ride along.

do you know any history about it or the year it was made?
1944johndeerel 3 years ago
I have a book that says the last Vaughan tractors were built in 1945. I believe this one was built right around 1940, but that's pretty much a guess.
