Pittsburgh Dad: Basement Pop

My dad would get mad about the wastefulness, not about the bees n' bugs gettin' in the cans... "I ain't payin' good money for yinz to waste all the pop." Not that we did this, but I can imagine him saying that. And he'd probably make us drink it anyway, warm and flat!

Another good one that got on dad's nerves was when he would go to get a glass of milk and find just a puddle left in the carton. "What the hell? Who put the milk back in the refridgerator with nothing left in it? Why the hell didn't you just drink what was left?!"

LOVE IT!! I never realized how goofy my accent was until I moved to Chicago for a year. They weren't afraid to tell me how weird I sounded! One time, my ex came up to visit, and we went to the mall. There was a Kennywood sign on the wall, and he looked at it, looked in the direction it was pointing, and said, "Where's the Kennywood place? I don't see it down there." I about died from laughing so hard!!

My father went a bit over the edge for Y2K I think, so when we had parties in the basement, or when kids came over to shoot pool down there, we always handed out family size containers of apple juice to each person, or a 2 liter of pop. He always wondered how we cleaned up the basement each time, and most of it was us drinking it away, hehe.
