This game has some many easy patterns, I don't see this "hard mode" as hard at all. When are you watching anyone playing SHMUP, you think that the game is difficult. But then you play and realize that the experience is totally different, the gameplay become fluid.

these vids have been out for a long time on the ikaruga website and the super-play website. Getting through ikaruga is not hard except for the satellite in chapter 4. But doing it in style with an insane score turns this into a completely new game, then up the difficulty to hard where bullet residue comes off every enemy killed makes it so insane, words can't describe it. But that's why there's practice mode. I think the highlight to this vid is at 0:08 with him chaining the circling ships.

every three enemies of the same color is one chain. if you shoot a white enemy and then a black enemy before getting a white chain, you lose ALL of your chains. so you have to be perfect. it's always better to just go the easy route when overwhelmed and pick up a chain or two instead of try to shoot everyone. ikaruga is not about going guns-blazing. the game is intimidating because of all the dots flying around, but you only should be half as scared because you can absorb half of the dots.

Hi, i don't know if you already know, but basically you have to do ALL chapters to unlock the next one, it becomes a pain in the arse as they start getting hard even on co-op with continues, but then thats coz we suck :)You can still unlock them on easy mode as well. good luck
