im not 100% sure if you can write off the classes and bus tickets but you can write off the stuff that you buy like the products...so make sure everyone keeps their reciepts! it will come in handy
For any start up business you can write off many things for tax purposes, just save those receipts! This would include any raw materials (i.e. Makeup), classes, and travel expenses. As long as you can prove it is related to your particular business. For more info, check out the IRS site.

Its funny and scary to look back at some of my pictures when I didn't know some of the things I know now. i have those days where i just put my makeup on for fun, learn different techniques. try different blends. so i have become confident enough to take a freelance job with a photographer. i have done a few shoots and they were better than i expected. i was just in awe watching someone feel better and i did that.

Its funny and scary to look back at some of my pictures when I didn't know some of the things I know now. I was at a mac store in SAN ANTONIO this summer and one of the MA's cut the crease and it was BAD!!! I wish I could get in contact w/ her. I would love to see her work. Maybe she has a myspace??? Yes, be your own MUA...That's what I do!!! Definitely go back to the store if you can and make an appointment with her!! It's worth a shot, never know what you may learn!

you know that you need a part two right? This is good to know as always. I have learned so much from here...you are right about the classes and the tons of money. I did this workshop and I will have to do a vid on that experience. I know now that I don't ever want to ever experience that again. Good stuff. Peace.

i have those days where i just put my makeup on for fun, learn different techniques. try different blends. so i have become confident enough to take a freelance job with a photographer. i have done a few shoots and they were better than i expected. i was just in awe watching someone feel better and i did that.

Love the video, I really appreciate your honesty and openess about makeup and what you do, so thanks alot. I also do agress with "networking", I live in Los Angeles, a great place to network, I have meet quite a few upcoming MUAs and every chance I get, I try and shadow them and help out, I'm still learning but I enjoy it. OMG thank you for saying that about it doesn't matter what age you are to do makeup. I'm young, I'm 18, and i love makeup and one day i hope to help others with it too. Since I'm not pursuing it in college, i always keep practicing.

You are heaven sent and such an inspiration for people. And I know what you mean about ppl saying that careers don't make money. But sometimes your passion can take you so far. I love fashion so I am in school for a "non-traditional" major. But I also would love to do make-up PT. And like you said, I play in it at night (though I am way over 18. lol). But I needed this video...and thank you for making it and being there to show ppl to follow their heart. :-)

Hi Erin, I'm Colleen and I absorb your lessons, speeches and i support you in everyway. Everything you said in this video hit every NAIL on the head. Especially when you said ppl deter you from MU artistry cuz it's not a "real" job. i was ashamed when i told ppl what i wanted to become. This was TRULY inspirational cuz i almost cried at how amazingly uplifting you are. U make me feel like i cud do it all and more. I wud be honored to meet u one day and just learn. I really need to make some videos - you are such an inspiration. I remember about 3-4 years ago, I was at MAC, still dreaming of becoming a MUA and she had on bangin makeup - I asked her what it was and you know what - she blew me off, said this is something else, you can't get it here. I was like - what? MANY MUA are really tight about info and WILL NOT share any tips or help - well, only help to sell you things you DON'T need. Thx so much for all you do! - hell, I need to help too!!

1st of all i luv ur makeup in this vid im like gettn ready to go n try it out right now lol but im so glad u did this video esp being under 18 u wanna be able to start in the industry but there aren't too many doors open for us right now so thanx..fortunately i will b able to get my liscence by graduation but that seems soooo far away! lol but i did have a question about the make-up show for next year b/c i was so excited to go :( if you go with an adult do you know if they'll still let you in??
