I like the reference request at the end you seem to have quite a deadpan humour :) are you just doing historical minis ATM or are you gonna do more dark elves/sci fi and fantasy soon? All the best
@TheChesneyChrist Never got any responses for that help request. Women just don't care about art! I go thru what I can painting phases, moving on from one genre to the next. Almost done with Flames of War stuff. Next will be I-don't-know-what. Dust is looking tempting, though.
@ThePaintingClinic: Dr. Faust, thank you so much for this vid. I enjoy watching your technique and seeing your selection of colors. The result on this mini is absolutely stunning! Truly gorgeous paint job.
By the way, I'm a recent subscriber to your channel, and I can't stop watching your vids. I'm really enjoying your scale model builds. Any plans for maybe some more sci-fi kit builds? Keep up the fantastic work!
Besides the fact every decent paint company gives you the "triad" reaper goes big on, this is a very informative video for helping get better at flesh tones
@jdouglasfisher It is Japanese Jazz. I don't remember which songs I used in this vid. Could be Jazztronik or Kyoto Jazz Massive, or off a compilation disk.
@ThePaintingClinic thought it was "jazz like" with some Spanish influence, but wasn't familiar with the music, which being from Japan, and not being played here in the states, might explain why I wasn't familiar with it.
Good stuff, have to look into it.. Looking forward to the continuation of the Vickers project as well as the Klingon Bird of Prey.
@ThePaintingClinic Hi mate I was just wondering what's the best way to paint a pale like skin for chaos using GW's paints. Help would be greatly apreshated.
what three colors would you suggest to paint a noble's flesh? I'm looking for something a bit pinkish, because I don't think a noble would have tanned flesh. thank you
@mgm96 The benefit of using the three paint tone system above is that you can mix up nearly anything with just those three colors. For the basecoat mix together the medium and light flesh colors. I suggest going more pale than pink.
what three colors could you use for something like a noble? I'm looking for something a bit pinkish (though not too much) because I don0't think a noble would have tanned skin. Thank You
@filodeusz Guess I just have steady hands. To reduce shake try resting your forearms on the edge of your desk, or rest your elbows on your desk and lock your wrists together.
@filodeusz I find that when I use a magnifier (even if I don't need it) helps stop the shaking. I guess the large size of the magnified brush putting paint on the magnified mini stops the shakes.
The magnifier also help you from touching a finished part with the wet paint.
Do you only use water to thin down the paints? I'm asking this because I have a hard time making the paint with the consistency that you just demonstrated in this video. I need to add that I'm using folk art paints( I'm probably the only human on earth who does it to paint miniatures) instead of the other normal paints like GW or vallejo brand
@Dnaizohd Just plain tap water. Many use craft paints, but they have limits. The main problem with cheap craft paints is the pigments are not finely ground. That fault mainly shows up when thinning them down. So trying to use craft paints for layering is a problem.
@ThePaintingClinic Thank you very much for the answer, I really appreciate it! :) It's a bit hard yeah, though I'm relieved to know that at least I'm doing everything okay (just using tap water). thx again for the help!
@Dnaizohd You're not the only one man. Limited budget and a wife who is less than thrilled with my hobby puts me in the same category. I got over 100 bottles of FolkArt paint for $30 at a store closing auction.
Really helpful, specially with the highlighting...... Going to the favorites section fo sho. Merry christmas everyone!

how do you prevent from messing up when painting some upper parts of it? Let's say the belt on his shoulder. Don't you ever touch the flesh?
My hands shake so I always mess up the parts I have already painted :/
