  • im using a mac and running windows 7 via vmwarefusion. Is it good for games and stuff>?

  • can you run Windows 7 through VMware Fusion 3? via Mac?

  • my situation is that i use a computer someone else bought.

  • So with VMware Fusion. Can i use a Dazzle with it. (Dazzle is only for Windows) Thanks.

  • first of all , MAC is way too expensive , there is still big reason to buy PCs than MAC.

    1. PCs are affordable for everyone

    2. PCs has more compatibility over MAC

    3. PCs were the reason why MAC is here.

  • @oukiza That last one is completely incorrect. Mac is the reason why I have a computer right now. They invented the personal computer.

  • @allhailpantera123 where did steve jobs get his parts to create Apple 1 ? you better look at the history.

  • @oukiza You are getting confused with PC and Windows. Personal computer was originally built with out windows which ran mac first, but over time Apple completely changed and separated Mac OS from the PC, so Windows came along and joined the empty PC.

But here's the problem for you and the arguer, You two are making the difference between a computer and an Operation system. We all know, we cant argue about stone and water right? PC ran both OS, and iMac is just another product of computer.

  • @oukiza pc has so many more viruses and pc makes no sense a all

  • @uralime123 pc are cheap

  • Fullscreen looks a tad laggy.

  • I cant play games on my VMware Fusion it says your graphics card or video card has properly stopped working even though on my mac it works properly please help!

  • Hi, what is the difference between the VMWare Fusion and Parallels, and which is better?

  • how do i type control alt delete on a macbook pro??

  • @klgs7 fn ctrl ..

  • what is the game he is running ?

  • @Oranxess Torchlight

  • @Metltwig thnx :)

  • for gaming I prefer PS3 or X box on a 60inch screen like an led or plasma not a P.C dual 24inch screen.. over that

    '

  • @4thetruth2bsaid yea no doubt.. give me an xbox, ps3, a wii, AND a 1080P 42" LCD combined and still cost less than a mid-quality gamer rig.. so glad the consoles caught up..

  • But if we did that development would die :S ... Apple doesn't allow any you to do anything with there system more or less (thats why it's so reliable)

  • Well mate U. C why I say you dont get it.. I love windows, I use it everyday. But instead of using a P.C build by 3rd party products that 4 ever u need to update drivers for it to work well with windows and its update. The mac on the other hand is build all by mac, so when there's an update apple will update everything webcam and so on..

  • if you are a guy that likes to spends time pulling p.c apart then mac is not for you. but if you are a user that need Horse Power well by a Mac and run windows on that.. many programs like sketch up

    run so much better.

I am both and understand the benefits to using both os's so thats why I use a mac..

where you guys just bag something you know nothing about.

    just me thought .

  • @4thetruth2bsaid Or Build a windows w/ parts of your own and beat mac by insanity a IBM Cell proccessor. A Soundblaster X-fi sound card a Nvidia 9800+ SLI and a Asus motherboard w/ 12 gigs ddr3

  • The mac Pro has it all sorry mate look it up..before talking.

Try using an 8 core two quad- core intel Xeon 2.93ghz with 32gb ram.

4 x Nvidia GT120 512mb this mean 8 monitors at one time. running Windows or Mac OS

Good luck finding a PC that will do that and be reliable. when I run windows it will shit its self at 6GB ram. .

Been there done that. it cost the some thing at the end with no service back up when things go wrong.

    Sound familiar anyone !!!!

  • @4thetruth2bsaid Cell is more powerful it is what is in the PS3 it is 9-cores by IBM and you can run 64X win 7 and go up to 120 gigs and buy whatever you want and put in a windows

  • mate its not just hardware but software that makes it..

What I have been saying all along Buy a PS3 for gaming.

Mac PC is the best for P.C like the PS3 is the best for gaming..

Why do you buy a PS3 to use in lounge and not a PC. tower?

The same reason why you buy a Mac PC over a 3party build PC. YOU JUST WANT IT TO WORK AND GO.!!!!!

  • sorry for the spelling

  • Macs in reality are more powerful than a pc

    not hardware-wise

    but system-wise

while a windows computer is very resource heavy

a macintosh was based off of the bsd or linux source and enchanced so it uses less resources

while being more powerful and using its hardware to its best

    therefore its not the hardware

    but the software

    and although i said that

apple made computers are more useful because they come premade to run mac os x to the best, unlike windows pcs. but windows runs better on macs too

  • LOL @ "no reason to buy PC hardware anymore". If I wanted an un-upgradable un-customizable system, I'd buy an xbox.

  • Ah, let me start off here. The mac not upgradable thing is not true. You can with the mac pro. Now before anyone starts jumping the gun. I own a standard pc with osx on it. (hackintosh) but I will never buy a mac. I can build a machine like the mac pro with 1/2 the price. Imo I like their OS but I hate their marketing techniques. Also with vmware and gaming, Yes it is good to an extent. Some games I have played with it doesn't work out to well. And just for the record. I think all os's suck. ;)

  • HA HA finally some one gets it, try telling these guys..

  • sorry Chris but I get sensitive when ppl talk BS about apple. something they dont even own.

  • what about vista programs

  • well this is bull shit.. I tried it with Autocad and it runs like shit .. my mouse is allways out of syn.

Bootcamp is still the best way.

  • Or... you know... windows.

  • better then you

  • Mate if you know windows, then you should know why we use mac as well. Like I said play with a ps3 for games.

  • Fuck off, ps3's are shit. I'd rather use a mac.

  • um...it is Windows. Bootcamp is the name of the driver package that has the drivers for apple specific hardware. When somebody using an Apple computer says they use Bootcamp, it means they are natively running windows rather than virtualizing it.

  • VmWare needs a Quad-Core CPU to run smoothly Windows software in coherence-mode. So, is better install Windows via Bootcamp.

    (Sorry for my english)

  • haha torchlight :D

  • yup and it's laging too .. Whats the reqs on that game anyway? 1GHz or somehing

  • ye not much at all :P

  • Lol Chris what are you doing trying to start a war using that ending.

  • right

  • windows can do both 2 :)

so i dont get it why mac and windows go together ...-.- its like 80% uses windows just of gaming and more, but work places they buy macs.... there both idiots but oh well....

  • would had been better to choose a more hardcore game than that one, by the looks of things that doesn't really use the graphics card that much

  • I can run that thing on my netbook better than it runs on that mac.

  • @AndyParka yeah but can you run both software on your pc with just as much power.... no you cant. i had 5 programs running, downloading 3 torrents, and running windows xp in an emulator and no difference in speed nor was it freezing up.

  • yeah....... and?

Like... what mac programs do you run that that doesn't have a windows alternative?

Also what 5 programs? my task manager has at least 30 programs running all the times.

Also 5 torrents?, If i could upload pics here I'd show you my torrent list, 60 torrents loaded, 8 being seeded and 10 being downloaded (not that torrents make any footprint on your system resources).

All without needing to emulate windows xp and while running Crysis on Ultra at 60fps.

    (Using windows 7 btw)

  • Comment removed

  • jesus andy, I was talking about gaming and the only thing you seem to care about is how many programs you can run :S

I don't care if your netbook can run a gillian programs the only thing I care about is GAMING if it can't handle something like COD4 and microsoft word running in the background at the same time, it aint worth sausage basically!

  • From the looks of it: same issue which windows 7 has with supporting "some" windows xp games, strange they had to go all the way of making what I would call an emulator just to get it to run windows xp programs!

Unless it shows promise of some new "feature" that would allow it to run the latest games I aint interested :P

  • Yeah, me too originally, then MrCaptianCrunch was talking about how his mac can do some stuff so i was arguing how that hes not cool.

my netbook cant run cod4 or anything, i was arguing about my gaming pc, but sorta forgot to mention it in my original reply to MrCaptianCrunch.

  • oh, I guess I can't blame ya then, lol!

  • Geez people, Mac is HARDWARE. As such it runs Windows. Gosh, Mac and OS X are 2 different things, just like Sony Vaio and Windows are 2 things. One is a computer, one is an OS on the computer. You should say "What OS X programs do you run that doens't have a windows alternative?" because as it is hardware, a Mac runs all OSes. Geez, people don't know the difference between an OS and Hardware. Just because the default OS isn't windows, doesn't mean it can't be put on it. Gosh.

  • Mac FTW. that is all

  • The Mac needs a software to be able to play games properly.. I feel bad for you Mac users..

  • totaly agree :)

  • PC FTW. that is all

  • i agree lol

  • you my friend just dont get it.. Play your games on p.c that I make on mac..

    P.C are just toys.

like a ryobi drill compared to dewalt

  • What pc games do you make on mac? What coding software for windows exists on mac? Pc's are toys based on what argument? And with that grammar what are you, 12 years old maybe? You're a fag, like a ryobi drill compared to dewalt.

  • firstly English is my second language.

how many do you know? secondly I use windows everyday to make living and not to play with games like you. buy a xbox or a ps3 if you want to play games.

I use both mac & windows every day and I can tell you mac is better running windows.. you dont have mac so what do you know but only to talk shit & bag others.

All modern programmers today are using mac machines to code with me included.

I guess you still run XP. on a hp.. I say no more..

  • English, Japanese and, Does VB count as a language?

  • Yeah, "buy a xbox or a ps3 if you want to play games." you're obviously not a gamer, try playing crysis or diablo or world of warcraft (*shivers*) on a console. no, you cant, because they're way to limited.

"I use both mac & windows every day and I can tell you mac is better running windows" so you're saying you made your mac better by running windows on it?

  • "you dont have mac so what do you know but only to talk shit & bag others." maybe I don't, but i use one every day, and all it does is give errors and the beach ball of death.

"All modern programmers today are using mac machines to code with me included. " I dont.

  • "I guess you still run XP. on a hp.. I say no more.. " I guess you didn't read my other post that you replied to... "(Using windows 7 btw)" and its on a completely custom built high end gaming machine that is a super computer to macs standards, and still cost half the price of a mac pro.

  • yup, i installed mac os x on my pc and in the system info, it says i have a mac pro. guess how much i got it for? 750

  • WOW... mac is better to run windows??? what a retard!! mac users had to wait for how long to get windows 7 to be fully compatible?? and i'm running mac os x on my pc and the only reason i use it is cuz there isn't a cracked version of photoshop for windows that works

  • yes there it. i have the adobe masters suite cs4 cracked and up to date.

  • @4thetruth2bsaid: Lol I really hope you dont mean that your programming PC software on a MAC .. How would you know that the code works 100% ... using an emulator can only take you so far, ALL games obviously doesn't work and the ones that does lags like shit (like Torchligt in the video)

  • objective c mate..

  • @AndyParka You know, when you accuse someone of being young and then call them "a fag", they kind of cancel each other out.

  • @purplg lol yeah, but I've seen some 8 year old transsexuals, so its in impossible.

  • No no, that's not what I meant. It's just an immature thing to say.

  • If you are going to knock someone's grammar, please ensure that your grammar doesn't have any errors. Both the P and the C in PC should be capitalized, and you shouldn't have an apostrophe, as that denotes ownership or a contraction, when you were clearly going for plurality there. Nothing personal, and I don't care about grammar; just don't knock something while making the very same mistake that you are criticizing. On an unrelated note, watching both sides of a flame war is fun!

  • @4thetruth2bsaid Making PC games on a Mac would be extremely inefficient.

  • Technically, as Mac is the hardware, and OS X is the actual OS, and PC is an abbreviation for personal computer, that statement is entirely incorrect. A better statement would be "Making Windows games on OS X would be extremely inefficient."

  • Ya, no kidding, but you know what I mean and that's all that matters.

  • Haha yeah, that's true. I think it's funny how people are so religiously attached to what is essentially a tool. It reminds me of back in the days when kids argued over whether the SNES or Genesis was better, you know what i mean? haha.

  • @jklunk01 It's the Genesis, duh. :P

  • I would say that PCs are like cars cause you can upgrade and make them better MACs on the other hand are like toys, they look like toys anyway and you cant really do anything with them more then write stuff and Apple forbids you from even trying to open them up, Im guessing they dont want the children to choke on the toy parts

  • It's funny how people always say Macs and PCs are different even though a Mac is a PC as it is a personal computer. Why don't they say Mac vs. Dell or Mac vs. Vaio, or Apple vs. Gateway, etc. That would be more appropriate. Sure, it comes with a separate OS by default. However, as Windows is designed for all PCs, the Mac (a PC, technically) runs windows.

  • Yupp the parts are the same but Apple charge you a lot more for them and doesn't allow you to change them ... In other words an expensive toy

  • Actually nearly all notebook computers and all-in-one computers have few user replaceable parts (not including ram). Including Sony all in one computers and notebooks for just about all brands (not including those known as desktop replacements). As apple makes primarily notebooks and all-in-ones, most of their computers will not have many user replaceable parts. They do have one traditional style desktop, the Mac Pro. As it is not an all-in-one, its parts are in fact user replaceable.

  • The computers are indeed more expensive, however, that point is true and isn't said out of bias or lack of paying attention to different trends between tower vs all-in-ones. Furthermore: toy

    noun

1 an object for a child to play with, typically a model or miniature replica of something : [as adj. ] a toy car.

nowhere in the definition of toy does it say that expensive and non-replaceable parts make up a toy. I can understand if you prefer a different brand, but just stick to the facts.

  • @jklunk01: The cost has nothing to do with the definition of the word ... Expensive toys does exist ... Furthermore MAC is a replica of a PC it's now using the same parts even and also MAC came after the PC so still a replica (or bootleg lol) .. and MAC is an object for children to play with cause you cant open them up like you can with a PC :P

Seriously tho both computers has strengths but what I dont like about MAC is that Apple takes away all of your freedom and charge you double for it

  • Again, as I said earlier, PC stands for personal computer, and as such, despite what people commonly say, since the Mac is indeed a personal computer, it in fact is a PC. It's just a brand such as Dell or Vaio. For goodness sake, if you are talking about the OS, say OS X. Geez. And, you can only not open the all-in-one Macs, just as you can't open all-in-one vaios or other all-in-one computers. There's a difference between all-in-one vs. a tower computer.

  • Thank You. ha totaly agree with you, most people just dont get it, it seems like there stuck on XP and dont want to go forward. What they dont get is they need to replace there HP or 3party junk to update every new OS that comes out. like win 7.. buy mac P.C all intell will run win 7 with updates given to us by mac and I mean run like a Merc. would never go back not for me any more.

  • You use a mac, your argument is invalid.

  • Why's there no reason to use PC hardware anymore? That's ridiculous! I'd much rather build myself a custom PC than have any manufactured one! 0_0 I don't need mac, I just use linux.

  • RESPECT LINUX.

  • wow, this is what i call an awesome usefull app to buy and have on the mac! it would be good the same with windows, but in reality i know it's not possible.

  • this guy is going for the steve job look

  • looks fantastic

  • What game is that?

  • Diablo 4

  • lol if macs were so good they would not need to run any windows software.

  • I can hear Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough" playing in the background.

  • did u see the lag in torchlight? lol! TRY running a proper pc game! crysis? cod4, supreme commander....

  • i have a 24" LED display

  • Good for you :)

  • thanks so much for this video i was dreading getting a mbp and not being able to use my irc script, i k nwo there is mac irc scripts but none of them even compare to the one i use with all the sweet options it has.. :D

  • so i can run any windows app? how much does this cost? i want it

  • thare is a free emulator called wine bottler that lets you run windows apps on your mac and its free. its not as good as vmware. but if you want a free alternative you can run wine bottler.

  • thanks, i used to use wine for my linux machine, though i found linux impossible to use lol but i was looking up earlier how to run wine on mac and it looks like it will be a lot of hassle, i think i would rather pay, but thanks i appreciate the tip, as long as this app is not too costly lol

  • well wine is a pain to run on a mac because you have to do 20 things in terminal to get it to work. wine bottler is new. its still in beta i think. but it runs just as seamless as wine in lunux dose. but you can use wine bottler to convert the windows app into an os x bundles app. relly kool. check my channel MrGizmo757 i have a video on wine bottler if you want to see it working. :-)

  • thanks i will check it out and leave a comment :) i really want something for a few windows apps i paid for and dont want to lose like flashfxp and mirc

  • well just remember it is still in beta so it may not work perfectly. but since it is a beta dont give up on it. beta's are thare for a reason. but so far i havent had any issues with it. if all else fails you can always just run a virtual machine. virtual box from sun microsystems is free. it works well. i use it to run ubuntu Linux. anyways good luck!!! :-)

  • thanks, i was thinking install windows on the mac machine but that would be hassle..

beta i dont mind it for me the beta version of ie8 was more stable then the final version has been for me i switched browsers for the first time since ie whatever version windows 95 had lol.. so i dont mind downloading betas

  • iv go it running mac on my pc in emulator

  • I want his T-Shirt !!! I'm a Mac and a PC

  • lol kinda is shitty when on a Presentation! the game doesnt run smoorth

  • There is something wrong if you guys get any sort of viruses. I've been using nothing but windows defender (plus the occasional scan of trendmicro housecall to be sure) for the last 4 years without 1 virus at all. Seriously, how do you guys get viruses?

  • I don't even use an anti virus nor firewall. You just need to not be a dumbshit and download porn, click ads, download anything call trojan.exe

  • @Somone77 I'd say for the average user that would be true.

  • A Firewall protects your computer from attacks, even if you don't run one on your pc you will more than likely be running one on the router, if you ain't running one on your router then I hope you get what's coming to you. You may think the firewall is not important sure, viruses you can keep them away by not being dumb but you can't keep away port scans, ddos attacks and ever else a hacker might want to through at you

  • these days you can't possibly not run one on a router, the router wont let you remove or disable it, depending on what router though. Windows firewall is good enough for any pc.

  • I left my PC open to anything for months. Ran multiple scans. CLEAN. It's a mystery man

  • Well, you have to remember, regardless of what OS you are using, the biggest security threat is always between the keyboard and the chair. That's right, it's the user. Using OS X or Windows, or Linux or BSD, what have you, there is never any kind of security software for stupid computing behavior. That probably answers why they get viruses. They are being idiots.

  • "no reason to own a pc any more" yeah... oh no wait i forgot, they cost a third of the price.

  • and you can build them yourself.

Oh, and you don't get QUAD CPU, not core, 4 CPU's, with 4 cores each, on one motherboard. Mac fails really. PC's will always be as powerful, because if Mac used the thigns PC uses, they'd charge two planets for it

  • "always be as powerful"? I like your enthusiasm for pc, but macs are pretty low powered compared to a mid-ranged pc.

  • see talking shit again when you dont know nothing..

You want to talk power.. Look up Mac Pro you idiot.

  • damn, i must have some pretty high specs then if you're calling that powerful. (yes i did look at the mac pro specs.) I mean, if you like 2-3 year old tech for a price that's higher then today's tech in a pc, sure, go for it.

  • Parallels is a little better the VMWare, let's you run bigger better game's

  • @signedadam I beg to differ, I found Parallels didn't run as fast as Vmware Fusion, If you want to game, use bootcamp (which comes free with your Mac anyway) so you run Windows natively.

  • @ModoZaffa - Not from what I have seen, Ooh, and bootcamp doe's not work with Windows 7 on a IMac 27 INC, the desktop has colour problem's with the 3D card,

  • @signedadam Have you installed the "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1?"

Also, on the Apple site it says:

"Important: You should use the keyboard and mouse that shipped with your Mac, or a built-in trackpad."

Let me know how you get on!

  • @ModoZaffa - Yes I did download the 300mb update, It was a long wait for nothing, the update made it badder then it was by making the colours of the windows 7 desktop logo photo have, darker blue then it needed is some part's, it's like it on other photo and games and the web, so it's down to the 3D Card not having the right drive's, This problem is on the 27"IGH IMac with the I7 CPU, and 512mb's of 3d ram.

  • @signedadam mmmm the only other thing I can suggest is searching Google for:

"EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs"

Click the Apple link and follow the instructions. Again, let me know how you get on (if you want)

Also, you could ask your in Pirillo's chat room (or email him)

    Good Luck!!!

  • @modoZaffa - No one could help, It's something Apple need to fix on there end.

  • @signedadam sorry to hear that, and sorry I couldn't be anymore help!

  • if you have VMware, do you get viruses?

  • No.

  • @unknownchronicles You will get Virus' on the windows side. The Mac will not get a virus.

  • @TheMacintoshPro yeah but you can still pass it on to a Windows PC though, even if it doesn't affect your Mac, So it's good practice to have antivirus software so you can find virii and deal with it (not pass it on to a Windows user)

  • @modoZaffa Yes. Completely. I was just stating that Virus' will not affect the Mac.

  • depending on which system the virus was written for, it could

  • if you browse online (using for example internet explorer through the vmware software), the windows files stored on you mac can get viruses, but as mac and windows viruses are written separately, your mac would not get infected

  • Why is it that VMware runs Windows in OSX, but not OSX in Windows?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Apple made it illegal to have OSX on any laptop/PC that is not an apple computer (iMac/MBP)

  • It is against their EULA (end user license agreement) but EULA is not a law in Europe.

  • Technically if you actually buy a copy of OS X and make it such that it works on non-Apple branded hardware yourself, rather than downloading pre-hacked and patched ones, in spite of what the EULA says, I'm fairly certain you are in the clear legally, as it should constitute fair use (just don't sell or distribute it), just as buying a movie, and then reediting and modifying it isn't illegal under fair use as long as it is for your own personal use and you don't sell or distribute it, etc.

  • I dont get it. Its against the law for pc users to run osx, but Mac users are allowed to run windows? Seems kinda like a double standard, no?

  • That would be an illegal law, at least in the US. Apple's End User License Agreement can say anything they want, but at the end of the day I have the right to do anything I want with anything I purchase becuase once I pay for it, it becomes my property. Violation of the EULA would be liking breaking a rule and the only thing Apple could do to you is without warranty and support.

We should be able to run OSX on any hardware/virtual hardware that we can mickey mouse it to run on.

  • I understand that part, but it is taboo for windows users to try to use osx, YET MAC users can freely (its even built in...lol) use windows.

Steve Jobs is nothing but a big baby that has some serious insecurity issues!!... lol

  • @LennoxL420 He's really an evil genius(like all good CEOs).. by keeping it locked up, he drives the hackintosh people into a frenzy.. while they do all the dirty work and alpha/beta testing for what will eventually be: OSX/PC official release.. I wouldn't doubt he personally (but secretly) funds the jailbreaking community(with code leaks/etc).. it only sells more iphones (to tmobile/prepaid users..) I wouldn't have an iphone if it weren't for the jailbreak.. ATT barely functions here.

  • And even though it is protected such that it won't work on non-Apple hardware, I don't believe the DCMA would apply in this case, as you aren't actually breaking copy-protection as copy protection is something that protects from the making of unauthorized copies, which is not what that is.

  • That game didn't run smoothly at all. Seems strange using VMWare Fusion for games when Bootcamp is available.

  • if you can afford a mac, mind as well get a pc too. lol

  • what if your like me and needed a mac for studies and had to stretch to buy one? i cant afford a PC!

  • LOL

This comment made me luagh so much

PC's are CHEAPER than Macs? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • can you not read? i said i needed a mac for my studies so i cant afford a pc as well (hence the reply to this comment)

  • sorry mate. misread the comment, only you'rs came up, not as a reply to Kaowaii's

    Apologies

  • what is the point of this? steam is already coming out on mac soon

  • That doesnt mean you can play all the games in the steam-store on a MAC :P

  • Run any game?? I don't know about that. I tried gaming with parallels which is similar, and it was terrible for gaming, so I just use bootcamp for gaming

  • WOW! Now I can run all my windows programs on a mac, its just like running Windows just with a £1500 higher price tag!

  • the only advantage is to show off your liberalness by having a macintosh logo on your pc

  • sorry but, why not just get a PC

  • @RandomGuyNo3 cos some people don need PC. for me i just need a PC

  • well based on the fact that they are doing all this to run a windows application, kinda looks like they might need a PC since windows can do everything a mac can do (and more apparently)

  • That's pretty neat but there is always a reason to have pc hardware that's why i have both a mac and pc.

  • can hot keys from the mac environment connect to the virtualized one?

  • @aviadra in Paralells you can, don't know about VMWare, they probably work too.

  • 5 stars

  • awesome
