I grew up in the Northeast, where Springsteen is oxygen... and this song from this album was one I listened to with my first girlfriend for hours in a parked car... Vedder came later, post-college and never made it high in my music rotation. But this is an exceptionally great collaboration.
Nice post. Eddie doing his best impression of the Boss. The harmonies almost sound double tracked. Just a note the new Eddie album of ukulele songs is great as is the new box set by the Boss.
so im listening to this song while playing the computer game league of legends and when a new window opens it shows the logo witch just says "league of legends" it was positioned perfectly so it was just under bruce and eddie
Eddie fucking rules and so does the Boss. One of EV's greatest attributes, among others, is that he respects the guys that came ahead of him and will always let you know why he is what he is. He's unique that he not only has his own thing, but can pay respect to the likes of the Boss and do it the way the boss does it, and maybe even better. This is proof positive in this video. What's fucking great about this video is the first shot of BS's wife and how fucking far stage right she is...tard
Damm...I grew up listening to "Born to Run"....Eddie was probably still learning how to play Led Zeppelin. Great to see him turn into the entertainer he truly is. Kudos Eddie.
Bruce is always great. But I think his performance of this song at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ in the early 80s is mythic. Search for it. It's on YT. The song bleeds. It truly bleeds.
two rock legends of two completely different eras. springsteen and vedder will live in rock infamy forever, but for them to come together and play like this?? nothing short of epic.
we all have strong points and weak points, ive watched the boss struggle to stay with eddie on betterman, please enjoy the music, why compare, its child like.now im being childish!!!
why r yall fighting over whether eddie vedder or springsteen is better, they both have tremendous respect for each other, and are modest enough that they would both probably say they appreciate the other one more than themselves, stop fighting and just enjoy the music
bruce has actually sold 80million albums in the usa, and 120million albums worldwide,, no one comes close to him,, he will stand out in the musics history forever as a legend, the boss!
Holy shitballs, sweird, you need to gather yourself. Let me know when PJ releases an album worth a shit, other than 10. Bruce continues to make great records, along with the 7 or 8 classic records. And the E can play PJ under the arena any given night. Maybe Vedder can get a job as a roadie for the Bruce and the mighty E. I gurantee Bruce has sold close to 70 million records.
Ya, Five Against One, Vitology, and Binural, or whatever they were called. Look at their new song, its a flunky from the Ten days, re-released. The best thing they were ever apart of, was the Temple of the Dog record. You see, I know what i talk about OhL. PJ were a fabricated super band, induced by the 90's. Springsteen is a rocknroll profit, induced by the heart and soul.
ok, so i guess it's just a matter of taste, although calling PJ a fabricated super band is a bit extreme. They were formed on bands like GreenRiver or MotherLoveBone which were no super band in a commercial sense of that word. But I understand that you just might not like them, and thats cool. Anyway, Springsteen is great.
I just put Bruce in very high regard. PJ was my fav. to come out of the early 9's. I liked them much better than Nirvana. Besides songs from 10, I really dig songs like, "Courdoroy", "Glorified G", "Wishlist", "Elderly Women.....", My favorite was the cover of "Soldier of Love". I would take PJ over every band that has come out since 2000, that 's for sure. It's just the Boss, is well, the Boss.
lol "profit". fruedian slip? I think you mean "prophet". you know nothing - PJ was not a fabricated super band, nobody had ever heard of eddie vedder outside of san diego, and nobody had heard of the other guys outside of seattle. hardly what i would call ingredients for a "fabricated super band." dumbass.
hahaha, that is awesome, i also hope the same, but maybe we can wish that the its a murder suicide where the ailing father strangles the mother and then slits his own throat while laying in their coffin of a bed next to each other. that would be top notch.

he's also done a ton more promotion/videos. i love springsteen, but he's a commercial rock star. he will be pimping his goods on american idol before you know it. record sales does not = talent. not saying bruce isn't great, just pointing out the fallacy of your argument.
pretty good stuff. i can never get over how well ed or the guys cover other songs...probably better sound than their pj material. bruce and ed need to tour together
have you seen pj live recently? it's almost impossible to find a live act better then them out there. now, their last couple of albums haven't been their best or most inventive (a little straight-forward), but, like with most of their stuff, the songs take on new life in a live setting. pj still brings it, and after this most recent tour, it's safe to say that they'll be doing so for a while. they should have a new album out in a few months, and i'm anxious to see where they go this time.
I never was too into PJ or Vedder, but seeing this...wow man, he is like a protege...the voice is definitely there and then some, now EV just needs to step his writing up and he'll be right there (into the wild soundtrack was pretty cool, step in the right direction). Ruling it! Rad!
PJ and Vedder are not in the same ballpark as the Boss. Sorry, but it is what it is. I love the fact he is paying homage, but let's hope he keeps it at that and not believe he is on the same level... he ain't.
I was proving a point. Just because someone sells more records doesn't mean they're more talented. Does Blunt sell more records than Bruce? Yes. But is he more talented and gonna be remembered 30 years later? Fuck no.
Blunt and 50 have not sold more records than Bruce. Born in the USA sold more than Blunt and 50's best albums combined and Bruce has produced many albums and has sold well over 100+ million albums worldwide. He has more talent and the world recognizes it.
I would give both kidneys and die shortly afterwards to see these 2 together. I grew up with Bruce Springsteen because of my father and I got into Pearl Jam and love Eddie Vedder, these 2 peoples music has sent me through so many hard times. I basically owe my life to them. So it would be fitting end, seeing as I would die because of the lack of kidneys :)
wow... just wow... i mean can you expect a voice to not change in 30 years?... everybody's does... bruce still gives it his all... other people won't even challenge themselves though... billy joel plays his classic songs in a lower key to compensate... bruce still goes for it... voices change... period
I love it but bruce really changed to much his way to sing. When he was on his 20 and early 30s was a way much better artist and singer, It's terrible when sigers change theyr voices so dratically
