  • are there any recommendations for portable cheap external hard drives

  • cheap portable external hard drive

    clic on my profile

  • pick up 50!!???

  • very informative. thanks

  • "most annoying fucker ever" comic book guy quote

  • my hard drive is smaller than yours but would it work

  • @20057468 yes

  • my hard drive is smaller than yours but would it work???

  • Logan has a nokia 6682

  • I took the hard drives out of their external cases and now I am using 2 640 GB external hard drives as regular hard drives.. the reason I took the hard drives out is because the plug wasn't working as it died due to age, so I said fuck it and took them out! I am now using them in a computer I am building and will used as a server when done!

  • yeah hes a dickhead also no scres to secure the HDD! Fuck me! nnnnn.nnnn!

  • Attention! I have a 40gb hard drive within dn-hs5500 denon,

  • This guy sounds like he should be selling garbage on QVC.....tool

  • OMG lol he is using AVG. Fail lol

  • He should announce when strippers go out to perform.

  • Informative, to the point and you went from from installation to formatting. Well done and thank you.

  • Internal hard drives arn't that much cheaper than external are they?

  • yeah right gay man.... 300 gigabytes per second wow... research more DICK HEAD

  • is this from the 80's?

  • u need the full speed of SATA, still the usb 2.0 is a bottleneck...

  • What is the best internal hard drive to use with this case. I need fast speed for video and music and firewire is so expensive?

  • Is there different type of internal hard drive?.. cuz i bought a case similar to his..but it doesn't fit with my old internal hard drive. It has two cable sticking out like the case shown in the video..but those cable doesn't fit any where on my hard drive.

  • This guy sucks....

1 - "People may or may not have usb, cause everybody got usb..." WHAT??

2 - "Unless you are using a atari 2600, and you dont want to be their friend...."

WHAT?? Who do you not want to be friend with, because you use atari...

3 - "Heres the power cable".. IT'S AN AC TO DC CONVERTER.

    And MUCH more...

He tries to say that primaery partition is for os only. FAIL. Primaery is the FIRST partition of a given drive. Do he jump pata to slave when installing in a usb casing?

  • zoom into the esata and he moves it, so the camera is just staring at his chin patch.... awkward

  • Ea-Cool

  • he looks like a pornstar

  • @thetoiletisbroken the question is how do u know what a male pornstar looks like creep??

  • STFU.... at least the guy was handful, not like u, haters!

  • i dont need esata im blazin already

  • How much?

  • @punxz18 $40

  • hmm someone is a lier he said he uses that hard drive to store all his photos then he says its a new hard drive and still needs to be formatted is he lies about a silly thing like that what els dose he lie about.. hmmmm.

  • @Nogorn he means he uses that same model hard drive you dumb ass.. stop talking shit if you don't know your facts

  • quick questions:

what makes this enclosure so much better that it's worth 30 dollars more?

is it made of metal or plastic?

  • great post! this can be very convenient.

  • Howmuch will A P4 Cpu Cost 3.6 ghz.

  • can i use an external hard drive for my games

  • yeah

  • Heck ya man, that's what I do at college. I run World of Warcraft off my external Hard Drive. You can even do it on a 32gb flash drive, but that's a bit more expensive.

  • need to get myself one i take so many pictures and use up so much memory and slows down my computer

  • Thank you so much Mr Logan, for the easy step by step tutoria on how to installing your hard drivel!!!! :'( (Happy Tears....)

  • i need help i have a harddrive that was used in a computer and i might buy one of these but do you have to formant if it was used in say a ps3? or is there a way i can make it so that i dont loss all my data when i format :( I NEED HELP!

  • say i go buy an external hard drive, could i install ...say windows xp, since windows is bootable from the hard drive anyway.

My coputer can boot from a usb flash drive, however that was linux on that flash drive. but i dont see why it cant boot from an external hard drive, and i would have to format fat32.

if im on the right track tell me

  • you probably may be able to do it but not with usb i think. you should be able to do it if it has a e-sata connection.

when you are installing the OS and you reach the "Hard Drive Disk" option screen, all you need to do is format it and the installing-OS will format the hdd to what ever file system it uses. However, some OS have additional things you have to do; Windows (just select the drive and format it), Ubuntu (format to ext journal 3 or 4 and create a swap portion of at least 1 GB), etc.

  • my laptop want show my hard drive in my computer it show in the hard drive in the hard ware device window what can i do to make my laptop show the hard drive so i can use it and my hard drive i new it was seal in the new bag i had to cut the bag

  • 300GBts or 3Gbts your stupid

  • You're stupid.

  • should have mentioned about the short power source to be connected to HD.. too short..

  • what if i have a lot of files i dont want to loose can i still use it as an external without formating it?

  • A brand new hard drive has to be formatted for either Windows or Mac. If it has already been used previously, it won't have to be formatted unless it's going to be used on a different OS.

  • Comment removed

  • 2:56-2:58 hes lke bending the sata port on the hd to get it in kind of risky in my part idk if i would go with this incloser looks a bit cheap too me

  • what about pata/ide external connections for it?

  • can I buy a hard drive with an enclosure fitted on it?

  • do external hard drives give extra ram? and proccessor speed?

  • No they do not, you can get more virtual memory from them however.

  • no. extra RAM you can pick up a usb with a large amount of memory. processor i dont know.

  • 300 Gigabits per second? Is this guy a dickhead?

Try 3 Gigabits per second grease ball.

  • And even with that, you'll be bottlenecked by USB 2.0's capabilitys.

  • Yeah somewhat correct, 3 Gigabit/S is merely the maximum transfer allowed by the SATA2 standard, in real world conditions a drive would never hit this, I would say results of around 80MB/S would be in the ballpark for a 7200rpm drive utilizing eSATA.

  • wow this shit is awesome 250 GB i can final download world of war craft

  • lol at the edit. he clicked quick format but then unchecked it so it wasn't actually doing a quick format. But the joys of non live video allowed for a cheaky cut/edit :d

  • Because he knew that no one should ever quick format their hard drives. Always fully format it! :D

  • No, quick format doesn't format the drive properly and so you don't end up with a good drive. The best way is to be patient and wait while the full format finishes.

  • This is simply not true, both options are as good as each other. A standard format takes a long time because it runs a disk check (chkdsk) before formatting. A quick format skips that disk check - if you know the drive works with no problems, there is no harm in doing a quick format. Saying 'you don't end up with a good drive' is a hallmark of someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.

  • full format runs scan disk before formatting; it will verify a drive is not faulty.

  • That's what most people think. It makes sence thinking why, but it runs a dick checker that checks EVERY single byte on it. Even quick format for my 1.5 TB hard drive took minutes.

  • Ah, thank you for the info, but I might have to correct a typo of yours. I think you meant "disk checker" not "dick checker." :P

  • This seems Old

is there a newer 10,000 rpm External Hard Drive ?

  • this video gave me a lot of info and was fuckin funny too at the speed up bits

  • does this work for pc and for window vista

  • LOL at the little chipmunk moments

  • So why do i want 50?

Cause that will mean from 1GB worth of really low capacity to 50TB of high capacity. Why?

  • lol i recommend you to take 50 of them haha xD

  • OMG, call me a sound freak, but the signal is moving between left and right sides and its ANNOYING

  • 300 Gigs per second, LOL USB is too fast fore hardrives because very few go over 30 megs/sec

  • @xsonicbladex : USB(2.0) has a max. transfering-rate of 480 Mega-Bits(!) per Second, which are 60 Mega-Bytes(!) per Second (USB hardly ever reaches that maximum). eSata(2.0), which is equal to SATA(2.0) (only the plug is different due to the physical stability) has a max. transferring-rate of 3 Giga-Bits per Second, which means maximum rate of 384 Mega-Bytes per Second (but doesn't get over ca. 300 MB/s).

  • and every Harddrive you can buy is faster than USB, because the slowest (3,5 ") Harddrive you could buy has an IDE-Interface which transfers 133 MB per Second (so it makes no sense to put a SATA HDD in an USB-only case). It's obvious that USB is much slower than a harddrive (which is then called "bottleneck").

  • Ya Ya, I know, I just did not word that well. The bottleneck is actually the speed of the drive, unless it's a velociraptor or and SSD. Most hard drives don't do over 30 megs read/write.

  • Benchmarking of my Harddrives shows an average speed of ca. 100 MBytes/s (SATA) and 55 MBytes/s (IDE) ... so my HDDs are exceptions ? No, I don't think so: My IDE-harddrive is 5 years old (160 GB) and my SATA-harddrive is 2 years old (250 GB) - both from Samsung.

  • Forgot to mention that my SATA-harddrive is running my OS (Vista x64).

  • 300 Gb, not 300 GB.

  • either way, sata is actaully 3 Gb/s

  • I never said it wasn't.

  • USB's only 480 Megabits per second.

  • wait can u store like games or it?

  • Yes..as long as the game are portable, this thing is like a flash drive but more bigger storage and ultra fast file transfer!! it is a hard drive inside your computer but just outside!

  • LOL a orange screw driver. Why not green?

  • its just 50$ i

  • it does not include the drive...

  • if only we had the capability of 300 gb a second!

  • In good time my friend.

  • was the hard drive used a new one?

if yes, why did you format it?

  • the problem with these enclosures is that the internal wires are a bit too short

  • In what direction does syncing occur? from external drive to your desktop's hard drive, the other way or can you choose?

  • this guy is a FAIL @ being funny and entertaining. he made me hate this product.

  • So you just can store more things in it? wow...

    Or what is it.

  • 300gb messoc hmm unless you use esatta its gonna bottle neck at the pc

  • man i really wanna pick up one of these babies and have a stack of HDs outside but 49.99 is a bit on hte hefty side.

  • I've got a question. I know you said that it's plug 'n play with computers, but if I wanted to put videos, pictures or music on it, could it be pluged into an xbox, via usb, to play the media on the tv? Like with a usb pin drive.

  • Jacob,

Should work no problem.... if there is a problem google it, there might be a format problem...

  • To use it on the xbox there are 2 requirements

1)The drive must be formatted to FAT32

2)The media on the drive must be compatible with the xbox 360.

  • i have eSATA on my laptop. this guys stuck with usb.

  • 1,000,000 terabytes is an exabyte I'd be boasting about that rather than using pre-historic terms such as your terabyte. My fake computer has a 6 brontobyte hard drive (which in bytes is 6 followed by 23 noughts.)

  • lmao just keep pressing this 7:50 , hella funny

  • Lol, Logan is a fast talker :P

  • what do you have against green screwdrivers?? :( the last video you said that it would explode :D

  • will this work with a 2.5" sata hard drive from a laptop???

i just bought one, but i didnt think about it working

  • i have a 160gb mac aluminum and i wanted to know if this would work with it

  • Can you use this if you want to upgrade your hard drive on a macbook?

  • OMG after 7:50 he speaks so FAST for a few seconds i almost cannot catch him

  • I tried to say it fast as him but :S HES TALK TO FAST :|

  • just too fast ill try it now. LOL

  • i would use gparted to format it : D

  • Very informative.

  • everybody's got usb except when ur using an atari 2600 but you don't wanna be their freind

    HAHAHAHAHAH fucking hilarious!

  • Retard....

  • i have a red screwdriver will it work. jk. but seriously i have a mac will it work

  • Its 3Gbps ....I pity the Fool....

  • so should i set it up as primary or extended

  • extended!, primary means that you want it to practicly run your computer and if you do that and something goes wrong you are SCREWD! so dont do that. :)

  • 300Gbps?! Don't you mean 3.0Gbps?

  • 300 gigabits per second fool:D:D

  • I have a hardrive from my old comp with windows xp installed on it will i be able to run this to see what files I have? on vista

  • yep

  • *buys this HDD & an orange screwdriver*

  • 300 GIGABITS PER SECOND POWER!!!

  • what about the two little white hooks that are in the back? how do they go????

  • one for each nostril

  • just brought a SUMOdisk External 500Gb 3.5in Hard Disk Drive and on the maual it says its easy and quick but for me it is not. When i go to my computer it shows it as a usb port and i cant even open it becasue it says please insert a disc drive into drive E???? i dont get that and when i go to my computer managment and then disc management it is supposed to be in disc 1 but it is not there

  • how do u use an external hd with mac tiger?

its alredy been formatted with a pc

  • the drive has to be formatted to +HFS or NTFS

  • You should be able to use it with Mac after you formatted it. It just work like regular USB Flash drive.

  • yeah it was cool bout a week after i wrote that but for some reason though it was formatted it didnt seem to be recognised the first few times i connected it to the mac.

  • I have a sata hd installed on my pc, will all partitions show after installing it on ext hd enclosure?

  • wear a condom at all times, theyt dont say it here

  • Surely you know as well as I do, your comment is not related to this video. 8-)

  • lol I gotta get a orange one

  • Go Logan! Thanks for telling us no extra software is needed to format the HDD! I always used to bring the drive to a friend with Linux. After that I always had problems with mounting it. Man was I stupid. Thanks!

  • can we use it on gaming

  • Yes, but dont.

  • Yes, I would just like to recommend removing this video from youtube and definitely not hosting it on Tiger's main website Logan. The reason is you stated "300 Gbits" as the data speed possible. I am sure you misread the prompter or something, but SATA II transfers at rates of 300 Mbits or 3.0 Gbits.

;) Also, please recommend to use screws to the customers...

  • I have a hdd from my old desktop pc. I couldn't log on anymore cause it was saying i had a damaged or corrupted file in the windows32 folder.. I couldn't fix it, the pc doesn't boot up properly due to damaged IDE connector on the motherboard. I got a new desktop pc, I wanna recover the files from the hdd but can't seem to because the files were in folders on the desktop and not in other locations of the hard drive. Is there hope for me to recover those folders on the desktop?

  • "logan on the webcam" video on the desktop...>_> lmao

  • the video didn't tell u that there is a fire risk of putting the hard drive a case without a fan. within an hour of a high capacity disk being used in one of these cases , it will burn and damage your disk , never buy one of these without a fan

  • this...was...a ... great.... video

  • dude this guy is definitely on meth or something

  • i bought this and a thermaltake one, all i can say is ultra > thermaltake

  • Buhlaaaazing... love it!

  • Not seen this in the UK is it available and at what price please.

  • Acually nice with a eSATA bracket, but the case seems to be in plastic(?). But these days an external drive is about the same price given a reasonable popular size. And the speed difference between (e)SATA and EIDE are negligible for 99% of the time and uses (long term storage). The Seagate FreeAgent Desktop USB 500GB (or Pro for eSATA) would be my quiet and cheap choice :)

  • This guy is freakin awsome!! LoL, "I always recommend an orange one, I don't it's even gonna work if you use a green one" LOL

  • Yea this guy doesn't like Green for some reason.

  • I like; that eSata is a nice feature. I HIGHLY recommend Ultra.

I should pick-up one of these things because I need some additional storage for my computer.
