I remember the new stuff that Disneyland in the 1955's, Frontierland was a barren land, just like the badlands, and the old frontier..there was a smell and quality that has been in my heart and in my mind..I love it..open from 10.am untill 10..pm..closed on Mondays..
Walt once said, if he had only known how successful disneyland would become, he would of bought all the land within 10 square miles....Thats why disneyworld is 30 thousand acres..
Gives me tears... so long ago and so many children had a Disneyland childhood - thanks to beloved Uncle Walt and his fantastic team of Imagineers ! Thanks Walt!
Nowhere near the size he needed; 180 acres just didn't make it. Disneyland has more acreage today, but in Orlando, Disney was able to have a truly full area, I believe it's around 43 square miles or more.
It's amazing that disneyland used to be just a pile of dirt

It's hard to believe that it was built in a year, and basically with no money. I can't imagine the pressure Walt must have felt during construction.
