@wellerocks Electronic Warfare will probably cut it down to a smaller size. And seeing thr size of the ship, the French did a good job, because even the B-2 Spirits need a shit ton of electronic countermeasures to even start disappearing off the radar.
@7777leonhard HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales (which may be renamed HMS Ark Royal) will both enter service with the Royal Navy and will remain in the Royal Navy upto 2040. There is the possibility of France buying one and the possibility of the Royal Navy building another one (for the Royal Navy) after the economy picks up. If the economy stagnates then HMS Prince of Wales will be kept in 'Entended Readiness' like HMS Albion is currently.
@MrXray2011 The RN will keep both HMS QE and HMS PoW; if France wanted one then we would build a new one to sell to them :) There is also a possibility of the RN getting a third one in 2028.

@MrXray2011 the Type 45 destroyer and the Horizons are firstly both destroyers and secondly the reason the UK dropped out of the programme was because the french and Italians ordered 4 each which were then too expensive so they stopped after 2 and the Royal Navy is building around 6., secondly, due to budgetary reasons, the Type 45s are currently not equipped with anti ship missiles and lets see if there ever is a type 26.. oh and btw ever heard of the French and British strategic partnership?

@rallylucas Yes I have heard of it... and the Horizon Class would have left the Royal Navy without a Destroyer force. Horizon was not good enough so we designed and built our own.

@MrXray2011 , Fremm is superior to the Type 26. in fact French military ship's are better than they British counterparts. the stealth technologie for ships used in Britain was learn when BAE systems was part of the Horizont class program from 1993 to 1999. the Type 45 is the result of this cooperation.
@XBotticelli I assure you that Royal Navy ships are far better than French ones. The Type 45 is the most advanced Destroyer in the world, and, the Type 26 will be the best Frigate. I'm not sure where you get your information from but you need to re-read it. The Royal Navy is the best navy in Europe- promise. And yes the Type 45 was influenced by the Horizon project but we improved upon it- as we are doing with the Type 26. The Royal Navy is the most technologically advanced in the world!!

Les Horizons sont des Destroyers à la pointe de la technologie. Les Anglais n'avait jamais construit de frégate furtive avant de se tourner vers la France et le savoir faire de la société DCNS. Sans la technologie Française pas de frégate furtive, pas de système d'arme, pas d'Aster ni de lanceur Sylver. Par ailleurs le Forbin a assuré avec succès la fonction de Red crown en mer d'Arabie, une mission de contrôle aérien dévolue d'ordinaire aux bâtiments américains dotés du système Aegis.

Take for example the eurofighter: a common project between germany britain italy and spain. and france decided to develop a fighter on their own. i dont think its wise. i mean, european nations must share their tech and knowledge.

We should share some technology but the fact that the UK, Germany and France invest more (UK the most) into military tech why should we then give it to your country, Greece, Poland etc because they haven't spent the money!? 1) its obvious that a country that spends more, has major gainings when a machine (ship, aircraft, vehicle) is produced. If UK spends 25% in budget in research for the eurofighter tech, it will gain 25% for each fighter sold. Thats how a society works.

Non c'est un projet et une technologie 100% Française conçu par DCNS. Les Italiens et les Anglais n'avaient jamais vu une frégate Furtive avant que la France et DCNS ne conçoivent la série Lafayette. L'Italie à demander à participé pour acquérir une technologie qu'elle ne maitrisait pas, même chose pour les missiles Aster et les lanceur verticaux Sylver. De plus les FREMM italienne ne ressemblent absolument pas à celle des Français et ne seront pas équiper du missile de croisière SCALP Naval.

In Oct 2007, DCNS announced that an agreement has been signed with the Royal Moroccan Navy for the supply of 1 FREMM Frigate, the first export order for the vessel.
Well, the first frigate, "Aquitaine" will be delivered in the beginning of 2012, and it takes 6 to 8 month to complete a frigate, so I don't think we will get them all in 2012. I think the last will be delivered around 2015/2016.
@eikkkN Atmovat is entirely correct, France has ordered a total of eleven FREMMs. Maybe the two FREDAs are confusing you? There will be nine ASW and Land-attack frigates, most of them being the former, and two dedicted AAW versions to make up for the two cancelled Horizons, but those are a part of the eleven and not in addition to them.
As for them all being in service by 2012, impossible. The first ship, Aquintane, will only just have been delivered by then, with the last not due until 2022.

@eikkkN In 2012 France will have 1 FREMM, L'Aquitaine. In 2022 France will have 9 FREMM and 2 FREDA. Production costs are set to decrease 25% by 2013 and a follow on order will likely be made once the economy picks up... if it picks up.

@7777leonhard HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales (which may be renamed HMS Ark Royal) will both enter service with the Royal Navy and will remain in the Royal Navy upto 2040. There is the possibility of France buying one and the possibility of the Royal Navy building another one (for the Royal Navy) after the economy picks up. If the economy stagnates then HMS Prince of Wales will be kept in 'Entended Readiness' like HMS Albion is currently.

@MrXray2011 the Type 45 destroyer and the Horizons are firstly both destroyers and secondly the reason the UK dropped out of the programme was because the french and Italians ordered 4 each which were then too expensive so they stopped after 2 and the Royal Navy is building around 6., secondly, due to budgetary reasons, the Type 45s are currently not equipped with anti ship missiles and lets see if there ever is a type 26.. oh and btw ever heard of the French and British strategic partnership?

@MrXray2011 , Fremm is superior to the Type 26. in fact French military ship's are better than they British counterparts. the stealth technologie for ships used in Britain was learn when BAE systems was part of the Horizont class program from 1993 to 1999. the Type 45 is the result of this cooperation.

I'm not sure where you get your information from but you need to re-read it. The Royal Navy is the best navy in Europe- promise. And yes the Type 45 was influenced by the Horizon project but we improved upon it- as we are doing with the Type 26. The Royal Navy is the most technologically advanced in the world!!

@MrXray2011 , your lack of knowledge in military vessel's is obvious... there are no "Destroyers" in French, Italian, Spanish, Greek (ect...) Navy's because "Destroyers" is an Anglo-saxon therm , but if you look at the size of those vessels.
Horizont = 152,87 m lenght
Type 45 = 152, 4 m lenght
FREMM = 142m
Type 26 = 145m (141m initialy planed)
the Type 26 won't be able to launch super cruiser missils like the FREMM/FREDA ...

Les Horizons sont des Destroyers à la pointe de la technologie. Les Anglais n'avait jamais construit de frégate furtive avant de se tourner vers la France et le savoir faire de la société DCNS. Sans la technologie Française pas de frégate furtive, pas de système d'arme, pas d'Aster ni de lanceur Sylver. Par ailleurs le Forbin a assuré avec succès la fonction de Red crown en mer d'Arabie, une mission de contrôle aérien dévolue d'ordinaire aux bâtiments américains dotés du système Aegis.

1) its obvious that a country that spends more, has major gainings when a machine (ship, aircraft, vehicle) is produced. If UK spends 25% in budget in research for the eurofighter tech, it will gain 25% for each fighter sold. Thats how a society works.
I dont think the euro currency will fail, but i believe greece, then italy and eventually other countries will go default. Its a waste of money pay 100 billions euros each year for debt interests and th welfare system has proved to be a failure

Non c'est un projet et une technologie 100% Française conçu par DCNS. Les Italiens et les Anglais n'avaient jamais vu une frégate Furtive avant que la France et DCNS ne conçoivent la série Lafayette. L'Italie à demander à participé pour acquérir une technologie qu'elle ne maitrisait pas, même chose pour les missiles Aster et les lanceur verticaux Sylver. De plus les FREMM italienne ne ressemblent absolument pas à celle des Français et ne seront pas équiper du missile de croisière SCALP Naval.

Beaucoup d'inovations sont initialement militaire et mettre de l'argent dans la recherche militaire et dans les armemente et bien plus important que tu croit, surtout avec les tensions geopolitiques fluctuante en mer de chine.

T'a pas tort d'un coté. Mais face à la Chine, et la Russie qui se réarment, je préfére avoir une armée moderne pour ce défendre, au cas où....
Si on a perdu en 40 c'est, entre autre, parce que l'armée avait été modernisé trop tardivement.

@jimpaokara we havent bought 6 of them.we just plann to get 3 of them only with scalp missiles.at first it was 4+2 frigates but now the program is just 3.each frigate will cost us 650 million euros....scalp naval missiles.......aster 15/30missiles.....gun 125(!)mm,4 tornado pipes,16 mine swiping devices,radar AESA(!WTF?)heracles,meco mlbv 127 missiles,6th gen motion detection sonar and stelth design.rly an amazing frigate but...only 3 of them.

@dovic3107, qu'est ce que tu en sait que ces frégates ne servirons jamais, tu est devin ?,tu as des visions prophétique ?. Notre marine sert à assurer notre défense tout comme notre dissuasion nucléaire assure la sécurité de notre pays. Tout nos navires sont utile,la France à le deuxième domaine maritime au monde. la marine française à également un taux et un nombre de jour de passer à la mer parmi les plus élever au monde. Il faut protéger la souveraineté des DOM TOM et des autres bases.

Well, the first frigate, "Aquitaine" will be delivered in the beginning of 2012, and it takes 6 to 8 month to complete a frigate, so I don't think we will get them all in 2012. I think the last will be delivered around 2015/2016.

@eikkkN Atmovat is entirely correct, France has ordered a total of eleven FREMMs. Maybe the two FREDAs are confusing you? There will be nine ASW and Land-attack frigates, most of them being the former, and two dedicted AAW versions to make up for the two cancelled Horizons, but those are a part of the eleven and not in addition to them.
As for them all being in service by 2012, impossible. The first ship, Aquintane, will only just have been delivered by then, with the last not due until 2022.

@eikkkN hi eikkkn, i don't think so, the 1st one, "l'aquitaine" is currently in test and will be delivered in 2012, and france as ordered only 11. but we still have the lafayette class and the horizon class etc...you should google"mer et marine" sometimes, there's a lot of nice info on this website

@eikkkN In 2012 France will have 1 FREMM, L'Aquitaine. In 2022 France will have 9 FREMM and 2 FREDA. Production costs are set to decrease 25% by 2013 and a follow on order will likely be made once the economy picks up... if it picks up.
