Also I don't know what you expect out of the sound. The number of people who used to work on these games could often be counted on one hand, or two. You're comparing things ten, twenty years after the old stuff here. Video games were not only a new thing, but the Atari 2600 had a whopping two sound channels (I think), with an extremely limited choice of what you could do with it. And I bet they had to do music by hand without any handy tools. Or skill.

That's entirely true...but compared to any other Atari 2600 game the music for Farmyard Fun is just terrible. The console is completely capable of composing a basic tune but Farmyard Fun is just random noises which are too loud. The game is best played on mute, which is never a good thing.

I just brought it up in an emulator for better quality, and it sounds like whoever did the music tried to add echo. either that or this is a horrible programming mistake that killed the sound. I can't make out the song, if there is one. Standard practice for games of this time was to grab a random song from the public domain and try to copy it into the game.

Yeah, it's just completely unacceptable. The Atari 2600 can handle far, far, FAR better music than that; it doesn't have to be that horrible racket, which, BTW, doesn't really count as music at all and sounds a bit like a giant spider dancing on a keyboard.

My sister and I loved strawberry shortcake when we were kids, just to remind you it was when I was a kid. The game did have a point though. When we were little Strawberry shortcake was a big thing so you knew all the characters in the cartoon. So, in this game when you are changing the head, torso, and legs you are matching them up to the character. When you get the right ones matched up the name will show at the bottom.
