@soundb1tes dude, hes playing it in regular tuning, but the real version in half step down, not taking anything away from this guy, hes great. but to play with the song you need to tune down, because of all the open notes.
Thank you so much for putting this up. I just picked up a guitar about 5 weeks ago, and the first thing I started learning was 'Sweet Home Alabama' as this one looked far too difficult. However I got to it a week in and built up my callouses, spent about an hour a night for 5 nights a week watching your video and have memorized all the bits and can play it all with some gaps in between each section. Hopefully I will have the full speed in another month or 2. Thanks again.
@1sainteve1 Thanks for video comments - always welcome. Well I seem to have hit a wall after those 5 weeks; basically I can do all the sections, individually, with a slight gap in between, but can't get that nice fluid strumming and picking you can do. All the video lessons on this song break it down, but when you who can play it do so, it looks like a combination of strumming and picking which is fantastically hard.
Just started playing about 2 months ago? Already learned the basic chords and strumming patterns. Don't care if I'm still a beginner, this song is BAD ASS and I'm gonna put every hour into learning this song! ^.^
thanks for the lesson
great job

I never really thought about it, but from looking at the video, it seems I'm wrapping my thumb around the neck to mute the string.

@Eddie3890
You are correct. The notes are the same, I'm just using my ring finger instead of my index finger. I should have shown both ways during the lesson.

Nice to hear from you, and glad I could be of some help.
I certainly wouldn't have been able to tackle this at 5 weeks (I can barely play it after 30 years) - it seems to come easier to some people.
btw, your videos are very funny!

great video, excellent disection and tutorial as usual. A little (a lot) out of my league, but maybe I'll re-visit in the months (years) to come.

This is a very good piece of music!
I had NO idea of the existence of the band Extreme.
Or that they wrote such good songs!
