  • Wooow what an energy in this show :D

  • They certainly doesn't make like that anymore

  • Roger Troutman... to me one of the best entertainers EVER!! R.i.P. its always the good ones that have to die :(

  • HOLY SHIT... THIS WAS ON BET....

  • Man how I enjoyed this ! can hear daft punk in here !

  • this is entertainment

  • No one will ever be as good as Roger, but someone needs to comeback with the talkbox as the lead vocals and have the same happy, feel-good kind of music. I discovered his music only 2 years ago, but I still almost want to cry because of the crap I hear these days instead of his geniousity.

  • @SinginShooter His brother Zapp (Terry Troutman) does just fine on the talkbox. You need to check out Zapp if they come to a town near you. I've seen them 4 times in the past 5 years and they can still get off. Roger would be proud...

  • how I regret that I didnt see Roger and Zapp live when they came to fort valley state university homecoming during my first semester of college. one of the biggest regrets of my life...because his brother killed him 6 months later. If I could turn back the hands of time and go to that concert.

  • navy dress blues lol

  • this honestly brings tears to my eyes it is so good. roger and his outfit are too good. what i wouldnt have done to be in the audience... the band's outfits are great too!

  • damn how did he play the guitar with hi tongue??? lol

  • they should have made a song out of the smurfs intro... i like this version ..

  • RIFFLE GUN SHAPED GUITS IS KILLING ME !!!

  • Is this a show or what, even after 22 years it's still hot!!!

  • He breathed, ate, seen, done, and screamed music. Not too many musicians that can actually sing and play instruments at the same time. Keyboard, guitar, and harmonica, these are eye opening. But one of the most eye opening is the Golden Throat and his clothes he worn in the beginning (Service Dress Blues with whole bunch of high ranking officer insignias). I wonder if he was prior enlisted.

IN any ways, he is sorely missed.

  • R.I.P. ROGER YOU'RE TRULY MISSED I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR NIGHTS @ SPUNKY'S IN DAYTON THANK YOU FOR FEATURING MY SISTER ON YOUR SAGA CONTINUE ALBUM. YOUR LEGACY WILL LIVE FOREVER. GREG JACKSON AND LESTER, RUFUS AND ZAPP ARE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB KEEP YOUR MUSIC ALIVE. I LOVE YOU ROGER YVETTE RASH WINSTON

  • T-Pain can go and sit down somewhere. Respect him and stuff but Roger Troutman had talent, entertainment quality, stage presence and everything.

  • I'm going back through time to hear an' feel this, MAN!

  • @avirexdazedconfused good luck haha

  • @syddiallo damn right!, thanks, I appreciate it, you can come along, if you wish

hell anyone who feels it can

  • @avirexdazedconfused OF COURSE I WISH, ZAPP, ROGER, THE TALK BOX: THAT'S THEME OF MY LIFE. IT'S THE REASON I'M STILL ALIVE. if only you were serious or if time travel was possible

  • @syddiallo ,if only it would be possible.. eh, what would i all do

  • YO AT 1 MIN 1 SEC THAT TONE ON THE KEYS ISSSSSSSSS SO SICK I GOT A MICRO KORG CAN SOME ONE HELP ME GET THAT TONE??

  • One of the most underrated bands in history

  • THE ENDING WAS AWESOME !!!

  • my man roger killed it from 7:55 to 8:16 Damn i've yet to see a talkboxer as good as roger . i wish he was still alive. i wonder what he would have out now and days.

  • Roger Sr. was definately the man behind the music, but he also brought the gifts of his son (Roger Jr.) who has videos under Roger Lynch, (rest his soul ), and his nephew, (Rufus Troutman) who has a wonderful gospel cd out called (All Things are Possible). Both of them are very talented and Rufus is on facebook if you want to check out his cd. God bless the troutman family and I will continue to lift them in prayer. Roger Jr. and Rufus are the two on the right in the beginnnig of the set.

  • The killing wasn't over Royalties, it was because Roger's brother was like a promoter for him and Roger decided that he really didn't need his brother to be paid to do what he was doing that he could do that for himself. Roger wanted to buy his brother out and the brother did not want to let go. So sad, because there was enough money to go around and for the bro to do something else. They were building houses in Ohio. WTH?????

  • With the AK....hahahah.....where has our soul gone??!!?!

  • いやー!まじカッコいいやー、DVDうってないのかな

  • rip roger

  • Roger is a fucking talent and I was so pissed when they killed him.. (was it his cousin) doesn't matter he was a true talent and it shows here.. More just listen. he plays the guitar well, sings and plays the keys with such emotion. Not a piano player from what ican tell but only a few like this come around.. And yes he is a part of the funk.. those that don't know wouldn't know. If you ever got to hear him in concert the keys rocked the house like twelve van halens.

  • @newtimes2 ....naw his brother killed him....over money/royalties

  • zapp was discovered by geogre clinton & bootsy(who's from ohio & bootsy)and george signed zapp 2 his label but the record company stole them from geroge along with his matercopies of his own stuff....lil tidbit 2 orgenall

  • Thanx, i can dig dat, heard that's what made the Mother-Ship crash and burn. Then George started puttin stuff out under his own name.

  • Electric Funk. This is wicked!!!!

  • You were the best Roger! You will live through your music forever!

  • That was the Smurf's theme in the beginning!

  • there's Ray Davis from Parliament-Funk 1:09 . was never really a Zapp & Roger fan. Its' not really funk, dont' c how he was part of the P-funk family. heard he and Bootzy went to sch together?

  • @OrgenaII it is funk its more like a techno funk

  • @OrgenaII i agree that Zapp & Roger are not in the P-Funk family. But it's a different kind of funk.....don't know what to call it

  • @EWeezy1993Z

    It's T-FUNK [TALKBOX FUNK]

  • what an entrance! rockin' the house Blues style! one of the greatest musicians of all time! RIP ROGER.

  • that man truly understands what it means to play guitar, totally in synch with the music.....I love jazz but this is the type of fluid guitar playing that is missing from jazz

  • Whatever happen to the familly at least we were fortunate to grow up in a time with them in it . The music was and is truely creative and special .

    God Rest Their Souls.

  • Damn that finger technique was something serious at 7:26!!

  • BET AINT LIKE THIS NO MORE...

  • @StreetKomedyTV naw now its just full of CRAP!!!! I miss the 80s-90s

  • Ahhhhhhh the good ol days...... Before Bob Johnson FUCKED our youth up for at least 3 generations!!!

  • yes, he is a big time sellout, he sold our youth out

  • Just let your SOULLLLLLLLLL GLOW BABY...........Funny as hell.. dem some juicy ass curls. God Bless the 80's..

  • WOW! I did'nt know that cat played guitar (Roger that is).

  • 7:48 omg its so ...

  • 5:10 no coment

  • I just discovered that Roger Troutman died 3 years ago...I WAS SHOCKED AT THE NEWS. I didn't know that his son was murdered either. Dear God! Their family is the black Kennedys for goodness sake...hot utterly tragic.

  • i think it's more like ten years ago. i think roger troutman passed away in 1999.

  • roger troutman died in 1999

  • How did I miss this?

  • he is the one who was murdered too right? how awful for that family

  • No.Roger Troutman II (Lynch) was ill and died.I think He had somethin to his brain but I don't know what.Roger Troutman (the guy on the talkbox) was killed by his brother Larry (who isn't on the video) and then Larry killed himself.

  • go to wiki, he was shot by his brother.

  • Comment removed

  • NO... roger II was messing with a female who was pregnant, and the baby daddy didnt like it, so he seen Roger II in a ally, and smashed his head in with something.. couple weeks later, he was pronounced dead in the hospital

  • what is the name of the guy wiht the one black glove on....anyone know?

  • The intro of the song with The Smurfs melody is hilarious!

  • roger is playin a Hondo M-16 Machine Gun Guitar

  • whattttttt this is from BET? your not for real! lol BET is such shit now...

  • word

  • I'm from Dayton, Roger was the best!T-Pain better study if he wants to see the best.

  • t pain aint using a talk box, not even a vocoder, what t pain uses and everybody else is too, is pitch correction, if you remember it first came out around the time janet jackson did her all for you album, what roger had to do was no joke, it took horn a driver, amp and a keyboard but no only that, his talent and creativity on the keyboard itself, the only other person i feel compares to roger on the talk box as far as his style is dj quik

  • In the September issue of Vibe Magazine, T-Pain calls it Auto-Tune. He says he copied Teddy Riley whom he say's is better than him and Teddy Riley can't do it better than Roger. As far as comparison to Roger, check his son out on you tube. Roger II. Lets not forget Peter Frampton either.

  • didnt even know about roger 2 thanks

  • Did you check him out yet? His brothers are still performing as Zapp and they also are pretty good on the, I'll call it the Machine. LOL. I think Frampton is from Ohio also. If you ever come across Roger and the Human Body, check that out, it was one of Roger's first groups out of Hamilton, Ohio.

  • I wanna take you home by Roger II is nice. It's on you tube also.

  • I need this on DVD.

  • Is that a young Terry "Zapp" Troutman on the keyboard at the beginning of the video? It's hard to tell, but that head-bobbing thing he does along with the face he makes, looks exactly like what Terry does today. lol

  • I used to have this on tape, when I was little. This was a BET concert special; it had Al B Sure! and some other acts on the show as well, i believe.

  • does anybody know what was the song zapp was singing while roger troutman was walking toward the stage and kiss the girl?

  • Do It Roger

  • r.i.p. roger

  • They are still a group who tours so you might still get your chance. R.I.P Roger But his brothers are still slammin. I saw them not to long ago and let me tell ya Roger would be proud.

  • Roger Troutman, Prince and Morris Day can pass as brothers. Who agree with me out there.

  • Yeah they could...or cousins.

  • Oh, yeah I didn't think about cousin thing.

  • It's the hair and mustache.

  • It was the 80's Light-skinned dudes were in then and on their way back!

  • what you mean light skinned dudes is still in sun(lol)

  • Yep! The 80s was a great time for us light-skinned brothas...these guys, all the Debarges, Al B. Sure, etc. Then then 90s came, and the minute Nino Brown killed G-Money it was ALL OVER for us. LOL! It good so bad that even MORRIS DAY wasn't even cool. :-)
