There have been 2 films starring Mickey Rourke based on novels I'd already read. This was one of them. The other is "Kill Shot" based on the Elmore Leonard novel of the same title. "Pope..." gave us young Mickey Rourke; "Kill Shot" the 'now' Mickey. It's like watching 2 different people but he was great in both of them. 20 yrs ago was the breezy, ultra-cool dude; now he's a perfect menacing 'heavy', the ultimate bad-ass. Watch "Kill Shot" and see what I mean. The guy is a great actor.

Great movie. Mickey said that the original director wanted to let Eric loose and Mickey went to the head guys and instead of letting Eric go, they canned the director. Awesome loyalty. Glad to see him back, go Mickey. Thanks for posting.

I saw this the other night, absolute classic and I can see where DeNiro got a lot of his ideas for Goodfellas. The way Mickey acts in this and the way DeNiro acts in Goodfellas is identical.
