When did using a pick like Justin become a crime, who cares what bass it is. I would always use a pick when i played tool and i would only play tool on my warwick
Oh Warwick Thumb NT 4 string with a pick ? Sorry but thats a crime. I respect good players using pick, but this.. no. I have myself Warwick Thumb NT 5 string and play Tool stuff using heavy fingerpicking / nail-slapping technique.
Don't want to be a bitch (and I know you think I am bitch) but to repeat myself, using pick on Thumb bass is a crime.
That pick hating is just stupid. I mean...it just gives the bass another sound, you can't play everything with a pick and not everything with the fingers...it would just be too "uncolored" for anyone. Even us guitarrist use finger picking once in a while...even with distortion...it just a way to look for a "sound"...
No problem dude. I'm just fucking tired of pick haters. And this guy is good. I think pick haters need to either get a good argument against picks or simply shut up.
Hey Chiasson65, i cant see the headstock...is that a dean sledgehammer 4? i really want to get me one of them, send me a message if ya can and let me know if im right, and how you like it if you dont mind. Nice playing also.
Justin did not write Stinkfist, it was Paul D'Amour who left Tool before Justin joined (during the production of AEnima but did not write Stinkfist). D'Amour used a Rickenbacker so you can not compare a Wal to this Wawrick. Nice cover by the way i dig your rig.
just look at the transformation of the band, they went from an angry raw band to an art rock, progressive, alt metal band and justin chancellor was a key factor in their transformation
As ture as that is, i believe they may have gone in the same path if they kept paul. justin didnt write anything for them until they were half way done with Ænima, and that album is when the started to go that direction, all starting with what paul wrote stinkfist eulogy h. and pushit.
yea man i know what you mean but i read in the Tool magazine that paul was released, he didnt quit because he was "holding them back" in the writing process which may mean that he wasnt writing up to the caliber that they wanted there new music to evolve into
Very nice. How long you been playing? I just started in July... been only able to work in 15 minutes a week in practicing, but I'm getting there, LOLOLOL! Old lady and apartments... noise=cops!

How come you dont use your fingers for this song?
hexlock 2 years ago
Because Justin Chancellor(Tool's bassplayer) plays it with a pick. That and Tool's music is meant to be played with a pick.
