they replaced it with the sky screamer EXTREME. which is basically the same slide with a chamber that you stand in and the floors drops from under you. It's alot more fun

heres whats happening

there are two new chutes of the skyscreamer, the blue/purple (whatever you want to call it) is fully enclosed and the yellow one is identical to the original sky screamer. An aqualoop is being built on the same platform as the twister and ends near nessies revange and the sky screamer

@meany1023 Yes! I was at west edmonton mall yesterday and they already put the new waterslides! There is a purple loop slide, and 2 new skyscreamers with "trap doors." They are not open yet, but I think they will open in the end of july.

The new slides to replace the Sky Screamer will be similar except they are brand new slides. One slide will remain open like the previous Sky Screamer but the other side will be fully enclosed. Both slides start from in a cage with trapdoors that open and you drop down. They will be renamed to Extreme SkyScreamer. Another slide at the waterpark is going to be the Aqualoop. So far there is no new name for that but it will start at the top of Twister and end beside Extreme Sky Screamer.

I live in Edmonton and go to the Waterpark regularly. The Sky Screamer is taken out, while Nessie's Revenge and Tropical Typhoon are closed temporarily due to the construction of three new slides. These new slides are modelled by Aqualoop, and will feature a waterslide loop. As of June 10, 2011, the slide platform at top has been built as well as the base of the three new slides coloured pink, yellow, and purple. These slides will be the most extreme in Canada.

Also, maybe a modified version of the old Sky Screamer.

@LakeNipissing actually the original skyscreamer has been taken down for repair and will be back once the repairs are completed. Also an aqualoop will be placed on the opposite side of nessie's revenge

@allaroundvideosking No, the Sky Screamer will be repaced with a new slide. It is the same type of slide except it is a new slide. The old skyscreamer is gone.

@coldtemperature not Really We are actually Re-Pairing it and were going to put it back on Maybe red or blue, but we are going to make it The Exact Same Except Jst brand new, wat i mean is Even newer and nicer and smoother, and slicker so it will be like the old one except Newer because the old one was there for about 20 years or so... it should be done But the end of June or July 1st..... :)

The loop part is finished they just need to add a few more things to the slide and its done!

@inushikag No, I have stated that, because when I was last there a month ago, at the end of January, the Sky Screamer was open and I went down it a few times. I was only repeating the announcements on the Wikipedia page for the waterpark and the 'Official West Edmonton Mall' twitter site which stated the Sky Screamer would be closed and/or removed as of February 22nd, 2011.

If some kind WWP staff members could confim or correct these announcements here that would be great.

@JklStudiosAwesome When I jumped from the bungee tower (which is 110 feet above the water), it seemed like the ceiling (glass dome roof) was about 15 feet above.... so my guess is 125 to 130 feet high. Amazing structure. I would like to see a video showing how the huge arch frames were constructed.

Gosh, don't even go there! More people have sent a PM asking how deep the splashdown pools are than anything else!

The slides are supposed to be the main attractions, not the splashdown pools.

And most of the time they are NOT DEEP ENOUGH, in my opinion. Being 200 LBS, I often hit the bottom, and last year hit hard enough flying out of the Twister to fracture my heel.

I believe the Sky Screamer is 78 feet high, it is the second highest slide at the World Waterpark. The Twister is actually the highest at 84 feet.

Nessie's isn't scary, it just gives you an adrenaline rush since the speed is close to the Sky Screamer but is much longer.
