  • Stan Savran will always be a Pittsburgh legend. Sad shame that we'll never see his show again though.

  • I remember all the years as a youngin watchin Sports Beat with my dad. I loved it. City of Champs for life.

  • This is as retarded as the firing of Mike Lange. And of course, no explanation from those bastards down at Liberty Sports Media.

  • Umm...ratings were low and the show is expensive to produce...it's not rock science fellas...

  • I met Stan twice, the first time I was lucky enough to be on the show and he "interviewed" me, and the second time he did a show @ the Heinz History Center

and after the show I stopped to say "hello" and he remembered my name

1 1/2 yrs. later! He's one of the reasons I'm proud to call Pittsburgh my home town! (I live outside of York, PA now in case anybody's interested!) Thank you, Stan and the crew! 6:30 PM won't be the same anymore!

  • write those emails..

BRING BACK STAN / SPORTSBEAT !

  • something is up with the parent company.

i'm not barking conspiracy or distaste on the part of any executives, but someone must be unhappy with something

mike lange and stan savran run out in a matter of 3 years?

    i don't get it

and holy hell did i choke up with stan at the end of this clip

  • You gotta love Stan, very sad moment.

  • Can anybody post the entirity of Stan's farewell address?

  • as an intern of FSN, i see stan on a daily basis...he's a hell of a guy..class act all the way and very very good at what he does. Sucks he wont have this anymore

  • I've met Stan a few times, and he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. And why did SportsBeat get discontinued? What happened?

  • well i dont know the logistics on it and honestly im not allowed to state what exactly happened. The company in charge of FSN pittsburgh is not Fox sports but another company that also owns FSRocky mountain and fsnorthwest. Even though the decision may have been made outside of FSN Pittsburgh, we cannot have the mentality that FSNP is being treated unfairly compared to the other two stations.

  • Well couldn't the show have moved stations to say PCNC or CW? Or wouldn't FSN or Liberty Sports Group or whoever owns it these days have allow it?

  • Actually, if you did know the reason, you could say so.

There's a degree of anonymity on the internet, so it's not like someone would know who you are.

  • Yes, but if certain information is only known by a handful of persons, it really limits your anonymity from the other end, doesn't it?

  • there's only 6 interns at FSN and just by looking at my profile and seeing my name they would know exactly who i am. And like i said i dont know all the details.

  • SportsBeat will be missed!

I seriously don't know what I am going to do! ;(

Stan had me all choked up at the end of the show.

  • me tooo =(

  • I've watched the show for 6 years ever since we switched from cable to satelitte, and I would watch it almost every week. I cannot even imagine what it will be like from now on to tune in to FSN Pittsburgh now that Sportsbeat is off the air. What a damn shame!!
