Wrist angle is a. major, major part of this. A straight wrist is very strong but a bent wrist is very weak. Try to pull your hand of your arm or Gi with a straight wrist then try it with a bent wrist, and the difference is MASSIVE.. Watch Uke's near wrist every time his grip is broken.
Don`t know the exactly rules of judo right now, but anyway, this demostration is really good quality. Just one wish and it`s the translation to english.
@Prokofiev rules. The reason you haven't heard of him is because it's ALL about BJJ, not the Japanese judoka who took Newaza to a whole different level in the early 1900's. I'll bet you've never heard of Sensei ODA either. He was one of the original instructors of Kosen Judo. BJJ offers some decent setups, but who has 30 to fight? Many of the Judoka back in the day were Newaza gods. Listen to that BJJ ass kisser Joe Rogan the next time somebody executes a triangle choke. "Excellent Brazilian
I really like the dmeonstration of the directional forces with the belt -- it really crosses the language barrier. i bet this guy would be a great physics professor too.
My opponents seem to clasp their hands together when I try jujigatame, so I just use the kosen judo bicep compression that is featured on the right side of this page. People usually don't see it coming.
sounds to me like basic judo thought he is trying to tell you not to break the grip at the elbow because it is closer to the ukes body giving him more leverage making it harder for you so you go down to the wrist hand to the smallest part of the arm were it is easy eg. minimum effort maximum Efficiency

from my guess he's maybe saying you can use your whole body to break the grip(by grabbing your own lapel) instead of just manipulating his wrist. just trying to read listen in context. lol
