  • A beautiful version of "Green Acres"

  • i think the original was better

  • no dislikes? damn right.

  • Absolutely great song. Hope you read some of these comments Don, we all are with you don, with the same love you give!

  • DON U R STILL BRILL, I JUST LUV UR VOICE,I LUV THIS SONG I HAVE BEEN PLAYING IT ALL NIGHT.

  • What a wonderful song!

  • Like I said, it sure beats that dirge American pie. My favorite Mclean song followed closely by Vincent.

  • I've always loved this song. Just one thing I wanna know - is 'Castles in the air' an anagram for 'Assholes in Bel Air' or am I thinking too deeply....lol.

  • "castles in the air' has 2 version, the oldest one was only guitar backup while the later one with full musical instruments background. I do like the later one so mch especially when I listen to it during my flight travel. really in the air la

  • Listen to his live 'Solo' album from 70's much better and it brilliantly moves into 'Three Flights Up' This double live album captures McLean at his best. No other musicians just Don and guitar and at times a Banjo. The fingerpicking is just 1st class stuff.

  • I like this song but this is the second live performance that left me less than impressed. I always liked the studio sound better anyway so maybe that is it.

  • Is it me or is he starting to look like Rush Limbaugh (he says while spitting on the ground) as he's aging?

  • Sing Don dont talk... Sing the song

  • Technically he's on time --- sure. But the question is "does this approach enhance the song?" Elvis is a great example of this. In the '68 Comeback he took a few of the Sun Sessions songs, such as "Trying To Get To You", and updated them. He infused them with raw, raspy, sexual power. He bellowed the notes, roared them. But he adjusted the whole song and transformed it into something new and better. Don doesn't do that here. The instrumental parts are the "old" version. It doesn't work.

  • Perfect song, perfect performance. Admirable work from Don Maclean. One that should get more play time in the radio's instead of nowadays material that can be hardly called music.... ;)

  • Totally agree my friend.

  • @jmldspt no that's music. this is music too. but the difference is, is that this has a meaning layed out in poetic phrases in a way that only good musicians can do. (Mr. Don Mclean)

  • @jmldspt

I actually heard this song on an oldies station on Saturday, and I loved it!

I didn't think that they guy who sings that American Pie song sang something like this.

  • @SuperHuitzil Well, he does. He's an absolutely great artist.

  • hes not singing out of time or cord hes just singing it live and different thats what makes a good artist

  • this is such a beautiful song; the lyrics are just awsome.....memoies of the 70s

  • I think he sings it fabulously and certainlybetter than anyone else ever could!!! A never forgotten talent and his music will last into the future and be preserved by those of us who love him!!

  • i thought that he was singing it out of time also, and i love this song... but we are watching and listening to a great genius doing his song the way he wants it now...

he aint touring for the money, or the fame game, he gets his kicks somewhere in the few moments he is on stage, how bout the false eto at the end??? thats a new positive... i went to one of his shows and it changed my life, new album of all original recordings coming out soon, thanks to one Don McLean concert in killarney.

  • Don't apoligise I know I'm right!

  • he is singing this out of time! far be it from me to give lessons to this legend! but ive love the original recording, he loses no kudos with me though! don is one of the best things to ever come out of america. wonderful song.

  • i agree

  • Sorry your all wrong its a rolling melody thats not restricted by the cords hes playing, he knows the song so well and is always on time for the chorus. do you agree Don!!!!

  • sorry casey youre wrong! i am a musician and a singer and i know when someone is singing out of rythm, i also know this song well and have always loved it, i think even don would sy oh shut up saey! i was having a bad day!

  • He's off-tempo.

  • yeah.. sorta... lol.

  • Master of Greatness, melody, tone, feel, music! The greatest american musician ever born!

  • Exactly!!

I have a pretty country wife that is my earth angel.

Mr. McLean wrote this beatiful song with great inspiration, and in the video he are singing with a lot of sense.

    Thanks Mr. McLean.

  • His voice is always beautiful even when he's old

  • Great, thank you for sharing his fantastic talent.

  • What a great Don McLean song. My favorite since I first heard it 35 years ago. He has such a smooth voice. I like his new solo version that is here on youtube. Thanks for posting.
