The Maynard/Hudson/Clinton area was very heavily industrialized in the 2nd half of the 1800's; the vast network of train tracks moved supplies and goods back and forth. Hudson's mills were mostly tanneries and footwear manufacturers.
Not sure where this footage was taken but the Boston & Maine Railroad formerly ran east/west all the way through town, paralleling Main St most of the way. Until the mid 1970's, it ran through Berlin to Clinton, where the CSX RR still runs today.
The "tressle" is gone now I think (behind South Street) Its the old bridge right near there. Use to drink beerz and smoke tweed there in my youth. Good ole Hudson.
How long do those tracks go for? It must be fun to walk em!
I wish the tracks still existed around my neighborhood. They ripped them up in the 1930's. All that is left is overgrowth and remnants of a trail!
