Strange contest. I could have made a Half-Life mod, then made a video of it and submitted it and I could have won. It should be limited to the HL universe.
In response to everyone who's asked (and I'm sure will ask) what this winning film had to do with Half-Life, I'll explain. The rules of the festival were that the entries could deal with not only Half-Life, but any Half-Life related games such as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Day of Defeat, etc. This film was based on the popular PC Gamer-sponsored mod They Hunger, a horror trilogy about zombies. The rules were clear, this was the best entry out of all we received, and they won, simple as that.
lol I personally know t3nacious and he made no submission, nor does he make films. I don't see why you should insult him as a sore loser. We simply checked out the planethalflife film festival, and being big fans of half-life we were severely dissapointed in the submissions.
I on the other hand don't mind that you guys used They Hunger, I think it's a great mod :)
If your friend doesn't make films and he didn't make a submission, then what gives your pal the right to say the film was uncreative? If he's so f**king creative why the hell didn't he just make a submission himself? I'm sure that his would have been a lot better! This by far is the best of all the submissions and if your friend can't see that then he has no taste and is just plain stupid.
Loved this flick, even tho I didn't get any of the references and not a big fan of zombie films. Well shot and acted (for the genre)and I loved the hands clawing at the glass on the door....Bravo!
Hey guys, I think you did a great job, although the film is a bit pixilated. Don't listen to what others say about the film. I played They Hunger and I loved the subtle references.
And by the way Please Watch Your Language on this website it is inappropriate use, I know that people may be upset, but please ** it out next time.
The great thing about this film festival was the amount of freedom that the rules allowed. The films didn't need to be limited to the Half Life universe and I assure you more than 300 people have played They Hunger. Someone sucks at being subtle and I smell a sore loser from a mile away.
It took a lot of hard work to get this short done. Weeks of planning, lots of tiring hours filming and many sleepless nights in post production. If you sir plan on making a living in this business you need to learn how to handle rejection more maturely. Good luck in the future. Hopefully you'll learn a thing or two with this experience.
As the editor of the film I am proud to have been a part of it. The script was written based off the game. There are so many references to the story line! You seem like a sore loser. Not to mention there is a They Hunger Mod for HL2 in the works. This short sums up the entire mod in 5 minutes...
Good by itself don't get me wrong. You're editing techniques, sound and folly, camera work, acting, all that shit.. were way above and beyond the other submissions, but your's was by far, the most thoughtless and least creative.
They Hunger? Give me a fucking break. I smell generic student zombie film loosely tied into a Half-Life mod the second they heard there was a film festival that would give them recognition. That was by all means a fun mod, but is far, FAR from representative of Half-Life or the Half-Life community as a whole.
I think you guys ought to be ashamed for taking first place. Shit, you should have just done a short about Samurais and Ninjas battling because after all, there was a mod in the works called Bushido that some people may or may have not played. I mean, that's seriously no different from what you guys just pulled.
I don't know who I'm more ashamed of, the planet halflife guys for placing this in the top 3, or you guys for submitting some generic zombie film and attaching "They Hunger" to the end of it, a mod that like 300 people played.
great vid, great mod
