Don't give up! I've lost 35 pounds in 6 months by exercising 1 1/2" hours a day for 4 to 5 day's a week. 1/2 hr on treadmill, 1/2 hr on elliptical & 1/2 hr lifting 5 to 8 pound weights. It is a LIFE STYLE change not a quick fix. You must understand that this is not a race, stick with it hun. I've been big then small back to big and now small again (thank GOD). Eating fruits & Veggie's is not a bad thing; you just have to adjust. I crave healthy food now cause my body feels good and wants it.
i dont know if you ever watched a movie called:SUPERSIZE ME, but that did a lot to motivate me. i encourage you to see it if u havent already. anyway, please dont give up. imagine where you could be in a year if u keep going. believe me, i know this is hard but hard is not impossible. God Bless!
Girl, on the real, we have all had a day or two like you are experiencing. Losing weight is hard and I too want to find the "thing" for my body. I know this day will pass for you and you will be back to your happy self but know it is normal to feel this way. JUST DON'T GIVE UP!!! We are all cheering your name.
First & foremost, you are beautiful & that's inside & out! Don't lose motivation! Try finding a partner to go to the gym with or even a personal trainer. You will get there. Start looking at vegetables as just a normal food & find recipes to spice them up, so you are still getting the nutrition that you need. Don't get down on yourself, because this a lifestyle change. Keep your head up!!!
Hi Trace, it not just about weight loss it is a life style change ,eating healthy is good for you! If you eat unhealthy then at 37 you have Diabetes,Cancer ur friends may eat what they want now but later in life they may regret it im overweight but i dont stress about at all i try to eat healthy most of the time but i eat to much be strong and look to a higher power GOD!
i now what you mean. people always say that people have other issues. but it still sucks because my issue is just so obvious. my "issue" has a number that clearly says if i'm failing or not :( i didn't workout for the last 2 weeks since i was going to grads and moving since school ended and i gained the 7 lbs back thati had just lost. 187
yes we have to be extreme in order to train our bodies to lose weight. our bodies is use to gain and maintaining not losing and poper nourishment. So train you body to do right and it won't go left.
Tracie, don't be so hard on yourself! Although I am 170 pounds I am having the same problems. I have been the same size for three months. I stop scaling myself. I don't know how much I weigh now! I don't even care! I just exercise and try to eat healthier. Trust me...I know how and what you are feeling! Delta Love.....
I totally feel the same way about how all my friends can eat w.e they want but I think I have it figured out! They eat portions... where as I eat 3 times the portions... meaning they have 1 hotdog? where I'll eat 2... I'm going to try to stick to portion sizes frrom now on... theyre there for a reason lol.
Most of my skinny friends eat the same exact thing that I do. But I have to remind myself that they are already skinny...they're not trying to lose weight. I am. So I shouldn't be eating the same as them. And you're right, portion control is everrrything.
Tracie, you have to really dig deep and find yourself right now it seems like food gives you something that you lack. And you need to sit and think why is it that you're trying to lose weight. Its it just to be thinner or you want to live a healthy life style and be thin?? it goes hand and hand..
Think about this. You are right on track for the suggested 1-2 lbs per week weight loss. That is a safe amount of weight for long term success. Just think of where you will be if you keep going at this rate :)
I know...it sucks. But you have to prepare yourself for fluctuations. Like I know during my 'lady times' I will put on about 3 lbs but they come back off. So, to avoid the big upset-I no longer weigh myself anywhere near that time. And just making a small change will make a difference. It isn't going to come off like it does on tv shows-but it will come off. I'm in the same boat right with you, but I know that it will get better. hugs from me to you.
cont. ...get the 100 cal packs of the snacks...everything doesnt have to be nasty tasting for it to be healthy...get motivated Tracie....it's hard work but get off ur ass and do it!!!!! LOL nah but really sometimes you have bad days but just think about the results of your hard work...make a vision board for weight loss...put your goals on there..pics of slim people..weight loss...healthy things...use those images to get you motivated.....stay up...lata
some people have to work harder to see weight loss...i'm one of those pople...youre going to have to suck it up if you really want to lose weight..it's hard ut keep your head up...stop eating fast food and start cooking your meals you'll probably see a change then..girl don't be so hard on yourself..you're the one that inspired me to get back to my workout...c'mon you're the team leader.LOL.and trust i'm not gonna be eating rabbit food..but i gotta put the unhealthy snacks down..get the 100 cal
Aww Tracie, I can only imagine what you're going through, but believe all of us when we say that you're going to get through with this. We know you can, we support you all the way. I know you can do it, just keep your head up high, and try to have a positive attitude and before you know it we'll be looking back at these videos and everything will be cool.
I totally feel you. I had this same episode happen after my 2nd weigh in last week. I was all geeked that I had lost 6lbs in 2 wks. I weighed on Tues and I had gained 7lbs. I was so distraught, but I can't give up. We can do this. The road is def not easy but we have to dig deep to keep going.
I just started my weight loss journey ...(again) but this time I totally switched it up by eating 5 x a day every 3 hrs and I work out in the a.m./p.m for at least 30 -50 mins Cardio/strength. It's working! Try a different workout everyday and trick your body where its not getting used to the same one. I work out to Jillian Michael's DVD's She has 20 min workouts where u go hard for 20 mins and then your done. Remember portion control w/food, exercise and u should see a difference. :O)
:( *big hugz from far away* girl, i don't even know what to tell ya...i feel you bigtime though. some ppl do have it REALLY fair. eating whatever they want and not having to worry about it. sucks.
also, i see a lot of people are talking about eating what you want, but just eating it in small portions, and i feel that, too. but when you have a seriously fcuked up relationship with food (ie emotional connections) how do you do it?? how do you not eat the whole damn box of whatever. seriously.
tracy you can do it!!! you are feeling down today maybe because it rain today in atlanta this morning, but girl you are to pretty stick to the trainer and the gym and eat right it will be all over real soon
Hey girl, about a year ago I was big on losing weight. I'm 5 "3" and I was weighing 180. All I did was stop eating out alot. I eat out maybe once a month and I bake most of my meats instead of frying. Those r the only 2 big changes I made, pants got Bigger and I got on the scale one day and noticed that I lost like 10lbs. Just try to take it off ur mind and it may work.
your not alone tracie i feel the same way. i lose weight then the next day its back. im considering gastric bypass as my extreme measure. something has to b done. i destroyed by body so now its fighting me
Keep your head up stay focused you can do it give your body time to adjust to the lifestyle you will be up and down but once you body adjust to the new changes.
Keep your body chanllenge you don't have to spend hours working out but doing something simple as walking and challenging your body will allow results maybe not all at once but they will come dont feel defeated because it takes alot we are here with you and you can get it stay postive my sister
Oprah once said, "to those that say they've tried everything, I say You really have not." In this vid you said that you don't walk anywhere, why not try that. In the other vid the trainer is trying to get you to go hard, why not try that. Running, why don't you try that. Why not climb that rope in the other video, can't hurt to try. You've got to start thinking more positive about this journey. Diets Don't Work. Animals eat all day and walk all day, and they are lean!!!!
I'm currently overweight & I realized if I wanted to lose weight I had to change my mind 1st. For one, (& this may sound stupid, but really, it has helped me), I stopped obsessing/thinking about two things: weight and food.
Then I started making little changes. Go from drinking 3 cokes a day to 2 for a while. Choose to eat half a piece of cake instead of a whole piece. Walk a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator.
Little things that can snowball into success. It'll get better.
Girl, I feel you 100%!!! I swear it wasn't this hard to put the weight on!!! I think that it's all just a matter of finding things that are good for us and eating foods in moderate portions.
Our eating routine is a permanent change. Once we hit our goal weight we still have to maintain it. So we can't go back to old habits. And until we find things that fit our new lifestyle 'rabbit food' will just have to do....BUT I DRAW THE LINE AT TOFU!!!LOL God Bless
ok no more depression, tracie! time to cheer up! stop thinking of dieting as a temporary thing. your diet is everything that you eat and EVERYTHING counts. What helps me to eat better than i was is thinking of my NEXT meal and JUST my next meal. don't worry about the rest of the week or even the rest of the day just think of right now in that moment! Thinking of being on a diet for a month is too much for most people so just try taking it a meal at a time.
I know exactly how you feel tracie, but like they say baby steps are the key. Just substitute all that white flour based food for brown, eat brown rice instead of white. It really helped me and worked for me and I was in the exact same mind frame as you are in this video. There is nothing to it but to do it. Just substituting helped me to lose 1 -2 lbs a week, and that was without exercise. You can do it, just stay focused.
Its at times like these, when your feeling at your lowest with the weight lose thing is the tme that yu should keep on pushing. dont give up. you can do it.. keep in the back of your mind where you invision yourself. you can do it :). keep your head up
My portions are out of control and I need to stop being greedy and only eat when I'm hungry and not eat more of something just because it tastes good!
Tracie....You are a beautiful sister' it's only a test...hey put on some side blinder and focus on that goal...You are very smart, you have earned 2 masters and folks love you and your very likeable. just take this 1 day at a time, plzzzz come too Texas and look for a job the heat here will do it for you lol don't fall for the flim-flem B okay son....
A book i found really helpful is "Skinny Bitch" by Freedman and Kim Barnouin and the Makers Diets book. These are good books health wise, some things are a little extreme but making little changes will help and deciding to lose weight for the sake of health might give you that extra incentive...i dunno. I hope i helped a little.:-( remeber- FAITHFULNESS (in yourself) CONSISTENCY and DISIPLINE. YOU ARE WORTH IT....YOU JUST ARE.
And while i still find it hard to only eat one cookie, or one piece of candy etc i find that slowly but surely i'm losing weight and keeping it off cos i'm not depriving myself so i'm not overly craving the other stuff. You're not alone hun. Just know that.
When we do these extreme diets we will always go back to the crap we used to eat and eat even more of it cos we deprived ourselves. That's just human nature. You just have to make better choices eg. if i really want to eat pizza i'll eat it, but i'll eat one slice instead of the whole thing.lol. When i go out to eat i'll only eat half. I try to do things in moderation.
Tracie girl, DIETS DON'T WORK. It's about a complete change of life style and becoming healthy. I have always struggled with weight and BELIEVE me i have felt how you're feeling now, several times on my journey to lose weight. But it changed for me when i truly decided to change the way i think about food. I did alot of research i cut out certain things but i ALWAYS have to keep in mind that the way i eat has to be consistent and realistic.
I also need to put in a plug for rabbit food. I have evolved into a rabbit food lover. I think people underestimate the fact that rabbit food can taste just as good as "normal" food and be just as filling. It all depends on how you prepare the food. This week, I made some tomato soup from scratch. Girl, I tell you, it was off the chain...seriously. I eat more rabbit food than "normal" food because I think it tastes better AND I have food that when I eat well, I feel good and look good.
Hey Tracie - sorry you're not having a good day. I think you are right, there are some people who have an easier time with keeping weight off, but most of us, even those who do tend to manage their weight well, have to exercise regularly and remain conscious of the food we eat. No, you don't have to limit yourself to just rabbit food but we also can't limit our diet to eating only hot dogs, burgers etc. There must be a balance exercise, rabbit food, and "normal food."
You're thinking about it too much! You can eat whatever you want, just do it in moderation. it's gonna get better b4 it can get worse. And you don't sound like you have a food addiction. i wish you the best of luck.
hey mama...i know how you feel we all have those days. i think the best thing we can do is to eat what we want but do it in moderation as well as add more daily activity...easier said than done i know lol...keep ur head up
I know exactly how you feel because I just can NOT seem to hold on to my motivation these days. One day I'm doing it and the next I'm not. But we have got to keep trying (even though it SUCKS that skinny people seem to be able to eat whatever they want!) Just keep going Tracie, I believe in you:)
What i've been told in terms of weightloss from a close friend of mine who had lost over 50 lbs, is that I can eat whatever I want..including icecream. Its just portion control. If you're gonna eat icecream..get 1 scoop and not 2. If you're gonna buy a hotdog, eat just 1. If you're gonna eat pizza, eat 2 slices and not 4. That way you don't feel like ur missing out on food you love. You can "treat" yourself as long as you know you're working hard.
I can only imagine how you are feeling. I've never been over weight or anything but just going through videos and watching my family lose weight i do see that it does take extremes and i don't think i'll ever be able to handle it. I was watching beautifulbrwnbabydol's video about how she lost weight and it seemed extreme to me also. She worked out a whole lot and became a vegetarian... iuno about anyone else but i cant become a vegetarian cold turkey like that.
I'm sorry that you aren't having a great day. One thing I could suggest is just eating what you would normally eat just a healthier version of it. Like if you eat pizza eat veggie pizza, if its chicken eat baked chicken. I would worry less about how much you eat but what you eat. This should help quite a bit. Once you are used to do this for a while (like a year) it will be easier to control portion sizes which will further help with weight loss.
Also, weigh yourself ONCE A WEEK MAX. It can be very discouraging when you weigh yourself often our weight fluctuates everyday due to fluids etc. Girl put the scale away in a closet somewhere.
Girl - Im sorry you are going thru it. Check out the Jon Gabriel method. He has a website, my friend is using it and its really working for her. Its not a diet, its not an excercise regimne, its a technique to change your physiology mentally thru visualization. One thing he recommends is dont diet, just add what your body needs to have proper nutrition.Omega 3 and protein so take an omega vitamin and extra protein. If you want pizza-have it- just add a salad,or have cake and add some fruit.
Huggs to you...Everyone on a weigh loss journey goes through some form of what you are feeling...You really have to get in the mind set that this is a life style change not a diet thing.... I totally agree with balance /moderation is the key..Set one day a week where you treat your self to a lil something extra for doing so well all week...eventually when you start having more energy and feeling healthier and u are reaching your goals passing on that hotdog and nachos wont be an issue....
So, maybe NY taught you that you need to take your exercise game up. Do more walking. Just do it. No, not easy, but the alternative isn't easy either. Look at this video and decide you don't want to continue to feel this way.
you have to slowly convert your diet, that way you get your mind wrapped around it better and you end up not resenting it. You grow to like it, no matter what everyone else is eating. It's taken me nearly 2 years, and I'm mostly vegetarian and and am now transitioning to raw food now.
Wow I feel the exact same way, I'll do good for a while then I'll mess up. But you can get through it. I just have to find some will power from somewhere.
Okay I'm no expert but you can eat every 2-3 hours, feel full, and STILL lose weight! I'm finally posting a few "what I eat" videos. I'm editing my breakfast vid now. Come on Trace pull out of it I KNOW you can do it......please please please keep going. Don't make me drive up there and beat you down! lol j/k You need to plan out a menu for the week and stick to it and NO it doesn't have to be rabbit food....I promise!
Hey, dnt feel down. Are you working out in addition to changing ur diet. I think that if you workout during the changes you have made with your eating you will see a difference, i promise. And you CAN hav those hot dogs and nachos, but not on a regular basis. I think every once in awhile will be ok. I lost weight and i had pizza EVERY friday night with a salad. ( I dont eat meat so it was a veggie individual pizza). Balance is key, because if u totally cut those "non diet" foods u will crave em
Yes, Honey atlanta will make you put on weight because when i lived in Florida i used to eat whatever and not really put on weight u kno i had lazy weeks where i would put on 5 pounds but the minute i got back to myself i would walk it off by walking to school, the mall, the shopping center..lol..but in Atlanta i cant walk anywhere soo its like dang unless i get up and walk around my neighbor hood or go to the gym i keep in the weight..LOL
I am with you! I use to be active and eat whatever. My biggest issue with food is during the holidays. It usually takes months to get the weight off. I just started the nursing program March 31 and I have gained 10 pounds easy. Now I am to the extreme. I am eating one item every two hours to build up my metabolism and workout for at least 20 min. Oatmeal at 8, bagel at 10, watermelon at 12...So far I have lost 3 pounds in one week. It is not easy at times, but I have to do it for me!
Cheer up... I did have to come to the realization that to lose the weight and keep it off it was necessary to accept the fact that it was going to take a life style change. For me it got easier as the weight continued to drop. Yeah 5 years later Im still not eating many of the things Ive enjoyed eating for most of my life, but you do yet use to it, and at the end of the day youre healthier and hopefully happier.

Just know that.
estadje 2 years ago

Tracie have you tried WEIGHTWATCHERS?
They also have it online for 17 a month.
I think its the HEALTHIEST way to lose weight without depriving yourself.

AtlantaSistah 2 years ago
you have to slowly convert your diet, that way you get your mind wrapped around it better and you end up not resenting it.
