There was a J.Dawson on board, who suffered almost the same fate. Met a girl, died, and even gambled his way onto the ship. He then volunteered as a firefighter on board(I think) and went down with the ship.

Kind of weird because the director of Titanic had no idea of none of this when making the movie. He unknownily partially told a real-mans story. But all in all, its still real. Its just easier to experience everyones pain, when you are able too see an individual story.
