The computer you use this on should have no effect on the charging. All usb ports should output 5.0volts at about 500mA.

I know that most mp3 cords work on psp and computers have too many volts but maybe plugging the mp3 cord into my ps3 and charging it that way... Any thoughts?

If the Sony specifically made it not to charge by USB than it has to be a bad outcome if you do, i once tried to charge my Nintendo DS with a USB by squeezing the small end into the charge port, nothing happened at first but after 2 hours of charging it litterely burned a huge hole in the charging are and now i can never charge it again because theres a hole where the charge port is supposed to be. A computer has WAY too much power to charge something.

Hey,

If your worried that having 2 of those connections plugged in at the same time will overload it then just put a resistor in. it will regulate the amount of voltage from the 2 sources combined to output only 5 volts. this way you can have the 2 pluged in and it will be fine.

the slim is pretty good, unfortunately, it cannot create a Pandora's battery. so a slim cant mod another psp, but a Phat psp can mod another psp, so phat psp are going to be of great development worth when its time to hack the next PSP.

Actually, the TA-085 motherboard can make a Pandora battery, but all other motherboards cannot. So ya, check the facts first.

very true, but not many user's understand how to check, and I personally have run into many errors relating to Slim homebrew not allowing the writing of EEPROMS, even though my motherboard is a TA_085. also, not very many PSP Slims were made with this motherboard, its rare to find them, only those sold in the first month or so had it.

While the Phat PSP still has its use's, the Slim is far more advanced, and for everyone who is not a dev, it is the far better model. A slim can run up to 3 apps at the same time, with a mod. a slim has DOUBLE the ram. Slim is lighter, and with the same battery as the Phat, it can run 3 times longer. The psp 1001 is sad, and for the fanboys who say its bettery, your obviously too poor or cheap to buy a new one. I have a modded slim, and i keep a Phat around just for developing PSP apps.

no its not melting metal... to solder you need a soldering iron... they usually come in 1 of 2 shapes, one is a shape of a gun, usually for bigger things, and one is in the shape of a pen or a screwdriver.... what you do is first plug them in and heat them up, kind of like a gluegun... then when you want to solder a connection you heat the metal up, in my case its usually a pin on a circuit board, by heating up the metal it makes it easier for the solder to stick to it... the solder is what you

Hey qop567 if you have too mu ch electrcity going to the psp regardless if there is a battery or not it might overload. Sony dident design the stem to have all of this other stuff plugged in. Really you only need one power source to power and charge evrything.

You can tplug both there would be too much power going to the psp. This would cause the internal circuitry to overload and fry everything. I would not do that if I were you. It wouldent do you really any good to plug both in even if it did no harm. The psp besides is only designed to charged at a lower voltage. In fact im not so sure with this mod either it could damage it long term posssibly.

actually I found out that it does the psp no harm to plug them both in at the same time. It dosent do it any good though. And this mod will not harm the psp. The psp usually charges with 5 volts of electricity. This is the same amount that you get from the USB ports on a computer.
