  • @TheThugzman It's actually almost nothing for an engine. The CryEngine 2 costs about 6 Million USD

  • you say adjust the tessellation, does that mean that the tesselation is not done in real-time?

    Also, textures aren't featured much in this video, is there support for paralax mapping? looks like there is some kind of bumpmap support of some kind on the tank's texture, but I can't realy tell on the video.

  • Here's a tip for you.. Professionals don't code in BlitzMax. Only dumb indies and amateurs do which is exactly what the creators of this engine and you are.\ Have fun with you're horribly coded generic rendering engine.

    LOL. Why are you posting the same thing on every Leadwerks video? Are you from one of those other game engine companies? Whats wrong? Is little old Leadwerks becoming a threat?

    I'll give you a free tip bud. If you spend less time trashing Leadwerks and put more effort into your own engine, you might not go bankrupt.

  • It's a heightmap generated in L3DT and imported into the editor.

  • @Leadwerks is this really hard to learn or if you practice with it will you eventually get the hang of it

  • @CamCon586 practice makes perfect. It's about as easy of programming as you can possibly get for games.

    I got a question about leadwerks:

    How to get the camera direction vector (so that if i click it can throw thingies to the point where i look at)?

  • there are several ways to do this. For example: GetEntityPosition(world.camera­)

  • Josh, try to add Shadows on terrain(if not already done), if you could add speedtree integration later, plus your road and river system, omfg, this will be a CryEngine rendering brother!

  • The trees in 2.3 render a lot more than SpeedTree, I think. You can have any number of trees.

  • I can't believe how good games are looking. All we need now is affordable art assets and anyone can make games.

  • How did you setup the dust particles for this. I'm not getting very satisfactory results.

  • You'll see in 2.3. I wrote a special shader for the dust so it would match the terrain color.

  • Impressive terrain system and the car physics is very nice too. Try to tweak it a bit, right now it looks like a remote control car behavior, almost jumping all the time and turning quite fast. But in overall It looks quite promising, keep the good work dude!

    i think sometime we need the grass color to be different from the terrain.

  • I suppose rivers could be done in a similar fashion, lower the surface a little, add a water mesh?

  • Rivers are actually a heck of a lot easier because they are just a flat surface, and don't have to be sliced up to hug the terrain.

  • I didn't smooth the cliff edges at all, and the terrain LOD distance is set pretty low.

  • The engine automatically textured the roads based on geometry patterns or you did it manually?

    It's pretty awesome. I'd like to see it done with a reflection shader and normals over a detailed texture.

  • you put that together in 30 min... i can hardly make a sort of good looking terrain on a 1024x1024 basis in under 2 hours.

  • I just use L3DT to generate a terrain, then import it into the editor and adjust it how I want. The terrain can be automatically aligned to the road, so it's easy to make it smooth and drivable.

  • i do that to but for some reason i can never get what i want out of L3DT sometimes i get close and other times its way off of what I initially visioned. I have been trying for like what you have here but it always is to plain.

  • This just an awesome, 5 stars. Looking good, physics and very good render. I like it, Leadwerks is the best, I am like to it for my 3d gaming engine. I am so byst right now, but I will put my hands on it, it is a piece of master art. Good job!
