I have had the blessing of attending this very event in which Sheikh Abdelbasit Abdelsamad recited various suras from the Quran-al-Kareem at MCC in Chicago, on the new years-eve 1988. I shook his hand at the end of the session. He died a few months later. Allah subhanahu-wa-ta'a fulfilled one of my old desires to see him and listen to him in person. Alhamd-o-lillah.
