Now a days they arent very strict. But if you are brinign a big camera, then they will stop you. I have seen people on their cell phones after the prayer & also at safa marwa.
Also I wanted to add, that its very important tohave a cell phone especially if you are there with your family and you want to meet them after salah; it makes it much easier
