@bulldog1879 It's actually better to do it with an underhook unless your tall. I am 5'7 so under hooks always are preffered. You have better control in the rotation with an underhook. hope this helps pal.
You gotta love tai otoshi. WIth practice you can make your opponent think you're setting up an ogoshi or some other hip throw when you turn your back, but then throw that leg all the way through and plant it for a tai otoshi. If your opponent bites on the ogoshi feint by hopping to the side away from you, then he's in perfect position for a tai otoshi slam. This throw was money in my competition days.
@marcosinemb I believe it is a modified version of tai otoshi, because of how the knee was closer to the ground and there was no sweep... but it could be either depending on how you look at it
Tai Otoshi is a very explosive move!!. If executed fast enough, it'll always work and comes surprisingly. There's no easy way to counter attack it.. Thanks for posting..
1:39 '-' man... the man in white is so much weaker then the man in blue...the guy didnt really use his leg ... he did use... but it didnt really touch the guy... the guy in white maybe was scared and gave away? hahaha he just fell so badly
1:43 He finishes the throw in the time it takes a guy in the background to take 1 step. (not the ref the guy behind and right of the ref) Thats some speed + power
That is so awesome. I'm a green belt jujutsuka and only started doing tai otoshi correctly recently (it took a 6th dan to notice my flaw and correct my technique). I think it is one of the most effective yet most mis-understood of all the jujutsu/judo throws.
I love tai otoshi. When I first started training judo, I played with a guy who used all the time to throw me on my ass. It's a great throw: so useful in so many different situations.
hey there used to be this rad ass tai otoshi compilation of him and i cant find it any more it was his ten best tai otoshis and they where all so smooth and crisp and snappy i wanted to post it on my facebook so my friends could see why i love judo so much and its gone!!!!
Really. I've done it. Also ogoshi, hiza garuma, koshi garuma and osotogari, all on the street. In fact, tai otoshi is one of the easiest throws to get along with osotogari.
I guess Koreans players are Japanese killers

2:06 most perfect! handsfree
StudentencorpsNL 2 years ago 2
i think it's more of "single-sided" tai otoshi than a hands free one.
you cant execute tai otoshi without ur hands. tai otoshi is a hand throw.
*peace*
but yea, 2:06 is perfect. :)
