When I first started watching Beyblade with my brothers, they watched the new stuff with metal beyblades so i had to show them the ORIGINAL show and told them "back in my day I had dragoon with blades that would put your shiny trinkets to shame" In my opinion kids now get the metal beyblades because it looks nice, not because of its true abilities. Let's say Tyson and Ginga /were/ to battle. There would be no arguing as to whose bey was made of what because the best tech would have been plugged into both. They both get modified over time throughout the progression of each series. It would be a straight up, Gurren Lagann/DBZ style fight where the only thing that mattered would be fighting spirit, and perhaps Tyson's experience. In all honesty, I'd root for Dragoon, but that's just because a dragon is totally more powerful than a horse...
