I agree, why do we have such a large defense (offense) budget?

MAYBE if instead of bombing people and economically enslaving nations we would not need such defense. MAYBE if we helped the world instead of treating it like our earth to plunder, maybe if we cut out the NO BID contracts and equaled the playing field the world would not hate us so much. BTW, it would not be possible to "plant" WMD's as Carrola suggests. First it would have to be way too massive, since no one would believe Saddam would have had the technology to have "suitcases nukes". He'd have had 1960-1970 style nuclear weaponry if he had anything.

Two, you would need at least 250-500 people in the military to keep quiet about it. You could not pick out 3 guys and say go plant some WMD's. You would need a whole apparatus and no one would keep quiet about it.
