What disturbs me is that people still care that Denis Leary ripped off Bill Hicks. Really? How do you know that the material wasn't sold to Hicks and Leary from the same guy. No comedian will admit to buying jokes (except Bill's stand-up special, "Sane Man." Bill admits to "buying that segue"). Let me put an end to this bickering with facts:

He's an actor who portrays a standup comic (Bill Hicks) on stage.

Do some research. Once you have, there'll be no argument. Leary stole Hicks' gimmick, his on-stage mannerisms/body language and, in many cases, entire bits from his act (sometimes word-for-word).

You know, I'm a huge fan of both Leary and Hicks. And although some of Leary's jokes may have been inspired by Hicks, if you watch each of their acts in their ENTIRETY, instead of just taking a snippet here and there, it's pretty obvious that they are two VERY different comedians. Some jokes may be similar, yes, but I disagree that Leary "totally rips him off."
