what a pile of outdated crap these engines were. head gaskets blowing, oil coolers going tits up, having to spill time em as part of the service schedule. rated at 170bhp and gutless with it.
youre right about the gutles part we had a combine with a 540 in it thats the only perkins i liked , love the sound of it drove MF tractors with the perkins drove great but just wont lug when the goin gets tuff they stall
bearings, new rings, as long as no rebore required, even then wouldnt cost to much, dont know about new pistons though, that may be costly if u need them.
My friend had one of these in a boat, sounded lovely, especially with open exhausts.
I have a s10 in my Mastiff -and just fitted straight pipes to it....they sound Awsome...
