I quit smoking when I was pregnant. My 3 yr old is healthy, thank god. If you smoked & your kid got ill somehow, how could you not feel guilty? If something happened where my child gets ill, at least I can sleep at night knowing it was from nothing I did when I was pregnant. Don't be so selfish!!! Quit smoking if you are pregnant!

my doctors told me that if i dont quit i need to at least cut down...i was at a pack a day now im down to at least 3 cigs...they said this cause the stress that causes you to smoke can harm the baby more than smoking itself...not only could it cause harm to your baby but also to yourself...my mom smoked while she was pregnant with me and im perfectly fine...yea yea i smoke but not cause of my mom...it was my choice one night and decided to take it

My aunt smoked up to the day she went into labor with her baby. My cousin IS fine, and healthy, and all she has (luckily) are minor breathing problems. My aunt still smokes about a pack a day, and so does her boyfriend, my cousin's dad. Basically my cousin has been exposed to these horrible toxins since 1996, up to this date. It's a pity, really.

Also, try searching what stress does to your body. When it comes to increased heart rates, blood pressure, anything that magically seems to be a cause from smoking, you will be surprised with how very similar the affects of stress resemble the affects of smoking. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's okay to smoke while pregnant, i'm simply just stating that all of the things that people are saying out there about it, just seem to be a little fishy.

why don't you ask yourself what viable ALTERNATIVE stress relievers other than smoking are available to pregnant smokers... SOCIAL SUPPORT... ATTENTION and proper PARTNERSHIP collectively have a positive impact on the mother and the fetus's health... smoking on the other hand increases the odds of a low birth weight... CO poisoning, asthma, mental disorders and debilitating malformations.. a parent owes a promising life to his/her offspring..it is better to quit.. ask a smoker..

And like I said previously, there is no absolute evidence that smoking is the cause of problems in pregnancies, it's an assumption. That it is JUST smoking that causes these problems. I have personally whitness a heavy smoker continue to smoke during her three pregnancies, and nothing wrong occured with her pregnancies. The doctor she was seeing had told her that since she is such a heavy smoker, that instantly quitting cold turkey would actually harm the baby more than if she were to continue due to stress related problems. Scientists assume that smoking while pregnant is bad, which yes it is; however they can't pin point whether or not it's smoking that causes respiratory problems or genetics. LMAO Almost every older woman that I know Smoked through their whole pregnancy, and that was 2 packs a day, NONE of their babies had any problems. Your not born with asthma...
