Wow does your dept ever need to learn how to drive. Besides the fact they don't know how to lay off the horns (completely unnecessary use of it), when approaching red lights think about slowing down. Part way through the response video you can see a car almost came through the intersection while the rig was blowing through a red light. Remember you can't help someone if you don't arrive yourself! Be safe and smart not dumb and fast!
well the few states that i've worked in in the south allow emergency vehicles to go thru stop signs/red lights, but i have never ever found a driver who wouldn't at least slow wayyyyyy down and bump the horn a few times before going thru em
Jesus titty fucking christ u have 5 ff staring at a fucked up bike when u have a patient who needs help for Christ sake help the medics out get equipment for em try and help the patient shit go back in service don't stand there lookin at a bike thts how ppl think we kill their tax dollars tht shit right there
@fcfdladder22 You obviously need to read before you type. The patient was BLS. Medics had it handled. Nothing needed from the Fire Department besides possibly containing leaking fluid which they were looking for. Stop running off at the mouth and pay attention.
Your one of two things, a wanna be "buff" or a "troll". Either way, from your post you obviously don't know shit about a fire department. For one, every state does things differently. Second, you can't judge speed and surroundings from a video, they can see things you CAN'T. Finally, stop trying to act like you fucking know what your talking about because you don't. Your an annoying parasite on this site.
@fireAKems the law of Pennsylvania states that fire trucks (and oddly enough the way it is written Mail Trucks) to proceed through an intersection despite a light being red or there being a stop sign. Federal law does not state anything on this matter, this is a state issues and it is the state law that allows fire trucks to proceed through a red light or stop sign. I believe it is also written that they must slow down when necessary.
@fireAKems If you have lights on you can go through red lights as long as you slow down first. Wow, people usually know that by the time they're ten...
ya thats what we use ours too for back up. i forgot bout the strobes that turn lights green. theres not to many like that where im at but i have heard bout them.
Hey, can one of you five firefighters help us board this patient? Oh nevermind. Just stand there and make sure the motorcycle don't ride off by itself.
In most departments that I know of the fire engine is only used as a first responder or assistance in manpower. Also in serious accidents we clean up the spills of engine fluids and make sure there is no risk of fire. Also in serious accidents we assist medics if the driver or passenger needs to be cut out of the car.
I bet you wouldn't criticize them if they were coming to rescue you. People need to learn if their not in the FD theirs somethings they won't understand. You can't talk about procedures until you've done the job yourself.
Their volunteers what do you expect? God, some vollys pray they get a call. Hell you'd be excited if you got a page and rolled up on a call regardless if it was a fire or mva. Once that adrenaline starts pumping you can't always control it. Not to mention theirs so much red tape, and fine lines about how fast should a fire truck go, and what are safe intersection crossing habits. To me as long as you don't blow a red light, or go 100 mph its all good. Time = Lives Saved you know.

All of you guys drive like that? RED traffic lights mean stop or at least slow to a crawl before going thru the intersection. I assume the guy carrying his gear got dressed during the response which means he wasn't wearing a seat belt. Come on guys...alot of risk for a minor injury accident.
I am not a firefighter or police officer or anything but from common sense I know that emergancy vehicles are aloud to go through lights with sirens on. I think most people know that by the age of 5 at least from baby books.
actually you can still be wearing a seat belt and get dressed in the cab. It's called a comfort lock. you just loosen up the belt and lock it in and you have ample room to don your turnouts.
Not that it bothers me..... But, the patient was uninjured and went BLS to the Hospital and was released within an hour.
If you took notice, the Engine Officer spoke to the Medic, and was advised no assistance was needed.... The patient got up on his own and ambulated to the litter.... ABC's, Ambulate Before Carry...
Nice parking job on scene! I'm a little worried about those EMS'ers though... It appears they have no working relationship with the Fire? A shame, it makes life/calls so much easier. The pt ultimately benefits!
H20Op is right. Get off the air horn and slow and stop at red lights!

Wow. If I was the paramedics I would be pissed.
5 FF staring at a motorcycle. It only takes 1 or 2 to take care of spilt fluids. I would think that the pt comes first.
It looks like a bit of a hill and that 35A wants to roll. Why not help them back board and collar? You know, working together.
I do both and that is not how it happens where I live.
However, nice run with the engine. Nice video.

the Q is awesome! i love it! but there are times you have to use the electronic sirens. like for some Dept's you can use it to turn red lights green.

normally true, but in some states(i believe only one),POV's are not allowed to go through red lights, and must wait for it to change.

my town we have "opticoms" so there are only 1 or 2 places to go through with a red light....more stop signs then anything
firedude201234 1 year ago
@paolom3 We are aloud to go through them, after we come to a complete stop at "Red Lights and proceed with caution".
firedept35 9 months ago
@paolom3 not exactly, in the state of PA, fire trucks are not allowed to run through red lights, unless traffic stops as they approach
