What's nice about this vid is the fact that Doyle Drive won't look anything like this in about 3-4 years (when the Presidio Parkway that will replace it is finished). It's still the original 1937 configuration between the bridge and the Marina/Richardson split.
@csampang1: I know they broke ground on the project, late last year, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't been on Doyle Drive for the past several months; do you know of the project's current status, by any chance?
Great drive, considering that when I lived in the Bay Area, I had no reason to drive this route. In the future, I plan to drive this one. And of course, great music.
Did you go up into Sonoma County by chance? They just opened up the third lane on US 101 in northern Santa Rosa to Windsor within the last three weeks.
Strange, I thought I posted a comment on this already. Cool video, and I could tell right away that Doyle Drive needed some modernization, especially with it not having barriers in the middle. Good to see that CDOT is about to upgrade that road.
My favorite part by far was the portions north of the Golden Gate bride, particularly the Waldo Tunnel Loved the views at 2:28 (Richardson Bay?), and at 5:49 of a nearby mountain range as well.
Great work Brent. It was nice to drive over the Golden Gate. I'm sure the Sydney Harbour Bridge would rate up there too for highly-photographed bridges, especially with the Opera House in the foreground. Very typical Aussie image.
Wow that stretch of the 101 surely has changed. I used to drive up to San Rafael and Santa Rosa, but haven't been since 2005. Thanx for the memories, keep doing what u do best FreewayBrent.
ive been waiting to see this 1 for a very long time .. thanks brent for sharing . your right this is one icon of a bridge, cant wait 2 weeks till i get to see it my self ..
Excellent video, It's hard to beat filming an iconic bridge and yes it looks like you had awesome filming conditions. Every video I've seen of US-101 is really cool, it's certainly not a status-quo freeway, very unique. 5*****
they should have called it " the rainbow tunnel " :D if not belive me pause at 1:50

Do you think that curvy 8-lane section is up to Interstate standards?

Thanks much, Brent. Far better than we're ever likely to see from your fellow San Franciscan. :-P
And BTW, @ 4:15: You naughty boy, using the HOV lane by yourself. :-P

Glad you enjoyed the ride!
Oh, and carpool lane restrictions are only in place, during rush hours. They're open to all drivers during non-peak hours, and weekends.

Wow! The frickin golden gate! Awesome drive Brent! I kinda like how the song went along with the wires in the middle of the bridge.
