alot of people don't like the new weezer. personally i like their older stuff better but i really like this album too. they've taken their sound in a new direction but they still hold on to that "weezer-ish" style.

Rivers wrote this song when his daughter was in the hospital. She was losing some kind of blood cell, and it wasn't reproducing. He stayed at her bedside everyday, but he knew that wasn't going to do anything. So he wrote this song. That's title "I'm your Daddy". He'll always be there for her.

"Artistic value" is a subjective and silly term. There's is nothing wrong with music being fun, energetic and god forbid it "simple". Songs will move you, or make you want to move... even if it makes you want to move somewhere else. It was your expectations, and not the song that ruined this for you.

I love Pinkerton as much as anyone else, but after a while, I don't wanna hear any whinny, sad, self-depreciating music. This song rocks so hard and Raditude is Weezer's best in a long time. Red Album had a few gems, as long as Rivers was singing *cough*, but on this album, I can listen to every song constantly... very happy bout this one.

this song def has hints of the old weezer....and everyone needs to realize that is ALL were going to get, hints....rivers isn't a twenty something emotional mess and they aren't a garage band searching for a hit single anymore, deal with it and if youre a real fan youll love their music because its them and everything theyve ever done has a certain attitude and spin on it that you only get from weezer, im sick of hearing people say they want the old weezer back, go find a new emo band if so....

Ok, first off, this has no hint of old weezer. This sounds like a bad Limp Bizkit song. Second, how does being a real fan mean you love everything they do.  That sounds more like being a complete tool to me. Third, Weezer did not use to be awesome because they were "emo." They were sweet because Rivers used to write phenomenal pop/rock songs that were simple, yet very intelligent. The lyrics actually had some soul to them as well. Bottom line: Weezer are just another cheezy pop band now.

The red album was pretty damn good. Despite troublemaker sucking musically. An their first single from Raditude (If your Wondering If I want you to) I want you to sounds like old Weezer. Them sounding like old Weezer is a bad thing though. We can listen to the same 3 albums over and over again or we can evolve. Honestly you are an idiot if you don't believe that people get older and views and lifestyles change.

I have no problem with a band changing and evolving. That is not my concern. In fact, I appreciate when a band can change/evolve and DO IT WELL. My point is that the song writing is brainless now, and the songs are very poor as a result. Every now and then there comes a decent song, and, I will admit, the new single is alright. However, the overall collection since the new millenium can be pissed on in a dumpster as far as I'm concerned.

Ok because you know weezer was never just a band with subpar journal style lyrics and songs that revolved around a series of 4 or 5 power chords....And the reason Rivers used to write the way he did was soley because of the fact that he was an emotional wreck, read their book, listen to their early music and tell me that all of the songs aren't emotionally based. This song has a few major hints of old weez, a 4 chord based beat, a catchy hook, a simple chorus, and off kilter lyrics...

Yeah, those lyrics sure sound like old Weezer to me. "I'm your Daddy?" Give me a fuckin' break. I never said they didn't have emotional lyrics in the past, I said that wasn't why there were awesome. Yeah, the song does have those things you mentioned. However, they used to tread a fine line between smart and just plain simple and catchy. Now that they've crossed into the realm of catchy for the sake of catchy, I personally don't think it resembles the old stuff at all.

Why are so many people giving this post a thumbs down? Sheesh, this person has a legitimate point. Obviously some people don't want to see it, but the sad reality is that Weezer is not the same band they used to be. The quality of the albums have decreased since Pinkerton. I'm not saying that every album after pinkerton sucked, many songs were still great, but it feels as if rivers just doesn't have any more good ideas.

There are only very few bands that could record a record as good as pinkterton. so i think its normal that the quality isnt as good as it used to be. but there were some songs on the red album that were simply insane (miss sweeney, the greatest man,..). you just cant constantly write such good songs. maybe theyll come back with some good new tunes in a few years. btw: why didn't everyone hate the song when it was released on alon2?! it's still the same song, just a different style.

Weezer's always had some electro influence. Hell, Buddy Holly started out as an electronic song itself. It seems like Rivers is starting to dig deep into his mind to get the Blue Album and Pinkerton sounds he used to have.
