This is a good video for showing the different types of chemical reactions very quickly. Adding the balanced equations to this video would be great, but I plan to have my students write and balance these equations in class.
That video adds a little confusion to the basics of combustion. Although chemicals outside the organic compound, 02, CO2, and H2O can be used, happens in more advanced organic chemistry. The simplest to think about it is

Umm, Hg2(NO3)2? Isn't it HgNO3?
Similar valencies aren't writen...
Masalmeh321 2 years ago
Hg2(NO3)2 is Mercury with a +1 charge BUT Mercury(I) is a diatomic ion as
Hg2 +1 so it's true charge is +2 not +2 therefore you need 2 NO3 ions.
Mercury(II) nitrate would be Hg(NO3)2 ...the Hg2+ ion is monoatomic

So in a single valency, HgNO3. In a double valency, Hg(NO3)2. So what I'm saying is right.
Masalmeh321 2 years ago
what obscurusvita should have said is that Mercury(I) doesn't usually come as a single atom/ion
When Mercury has a charge of +1, it likes pairing up with another mercury ion of charge +1. They do not like being alone.
Yes, what you said is right for other elements, but for mercury it is only right in very special circumstances.

CxHxOx + O2 --> CO2 + H2O
