it was pretty simple i think he just went 1-2-4th fingers hammering on the above string and then picked the same fingers on below string at the same fret and he just went up the frets

although it is better 2 learn it by just watchin' the vid, but it's really hard 2 see wer ur fingers r goin, u myt want to explain the tab if u do another vid.

Another good thing 2 do is play the exercise backwards, just 4 variation

it would be easy to hammer on, but picking each note is actually a good way to practice your alternate picking.

Iv been playing guitar for almost 5 years and i am decently fast up and down the fret board, but am not near as fast as i would liek to be and i was just curious if this exercise really improves speed well. I just got done practicing it and it was pretty fucking difficult for me to play it clean at 175 BPM, while starting each 3 note segment at the beat. Do you think it will still help me?

this looks like an excelent exercise, only the the video is so bad I can't tell exactly where you are placing your fingers. This would be a good lesson if you were to display a tab along with your demonstration.

I'm gonna throw up another video tonight or tomorrow and I'll explain what I'm doing :D - Basically its on the D and G string starting on 2-3-5 for both strings, then 3-5-7, 5-7-8. Etc. Pick once, a downstroke on the D string, followed by Up, down, up on the G string.
