If you just follow all of Dave's double bass lessons building up speed as you go (this will take time) you can do many different D.B. beats, grooves, and fills' he has helped me tremendously..Thanks Ax !
@KFCrenegade A good pedal is always helpful but once you build the dexterity of your feet you can play well on any pedal no matter the brand or even the spring tension.
i think this is a little easy for an intermediate lesson but what helped me learn fills was to learn or create simple patterns such as "r l r l r flam kick kick r" (random pattern idk if that works) instead of learning to hit specific toms or symbols so that way i could easily make an interesting fill using a simple pattern. idk but thats what helped me.
@trizzle2013 i guess this is the result of all the youtube haters saying everything is SOOOO easy, so they said "ok, since everyone is so fucking fast and amazing, let us speed things up a bit" hehe
@trizzle2013 You should see the complexity of the beginner double bass fill video. What beginner is going to be able to play sixteenth note triplets mixed with sixteenth notes?
@15thDrummer about any fast pattern in drums, the key is lower the distance. Smaller distance of your feet from the board will give you more speed. You should watch some of the double bass techniques that George Kollias from nile uses. I find them really helpful. in this video: watch?v=BA4Sq0mqU-k&feature=related you can see how small is the distance. It's almost like he does hill down but is an up...
how on earth does he pull of them 4 really fast hits on the bass drum ive been practicing and practicing and i just cant do it my feet just spaz z out if any one can help would be greatful or if any one knows any exercises
@15thDrummer just keep trying , it will come to you. Start very very slow, and once that gets too easy , get a little faster , don't worry , i thought i would never get there , but you will eventually!
@15thDrummer just do continuous double bass to get consistency then do exercises like four bass then four snare then mix it up and you will get really fast
@15thDrummer i have a way of doing it.. i think its called sliding.. What you do is put your feet in the middle of the pedal.. when you hit the drum.. slide the foot to the front of the pedal.. this generates another hit right after the first one.. try it and see if you can do it.. if you do.. train doing it with both feet
@15thDrummer its kinda hard at first man but just keep trying. start slow with 16th notes under and*th note groove and slowly speed up. over time you will get it dont worry
@15thDrummer Maybe you should try to play with the little muscles in your ankles and feet, what helps for me too is playing with my socks, so I feel the bass pedal better. ;D
@15thDrummer If you want to make your left foot stronger when playing double bass either switch your drum set to be left handed or keep your double pedel on your right handed set up and play on the left pedel when you play songs. It always helped me.
@15thDrummer Get a metronome. Keep a basic 4/4 beat and play 16th notes on bass at the fastest tempo you can. If you're not that good, you'll only be able to play 16th notes on the bass drum in the low 100 BPM mark. Work that until it's comfortable. Should take three or four minutes. Each day, increase the tempo by 2 BPM, and do the same thing. Don't look at short time frames, this is a gradual thing. But with this you can quite literally achieve any speed.
Are those Axis pedals?
