No Law can be perfect it will require amendments periodically based on experience . This has been the case with our Constitution which has been amended 94 times since its enactmen.there is no magic wand it will take time we need to have patience There is no one giant step that does it. Then in cases for crimes like Murder, Theft, Rape etc, should there be provision of fines, viewing the degree of offence? Only Politicians are not corrupt, everyone from Film Stars, Sports Persons to Common Man, all are a part of it and most of the people of different fields are enjoying their extra source of income :)

Govt Lokpal bill draft is worthy of the dustbin because it seems to encourage corruption and choke the voice of whistleblower. Leaving the PM out of the ambit of Lokpal is like leaving a gap to become a floodgate of corruption subsequently.
I personally feel, the draft Jan Lokpal should immediately be placed in the parliament to eradicate corruption.

We need better clauses for Whistle Blowers.. Their exposes can reveal a chain that start with a low level official and end up with a MP/MLA being involved in most cases. If they are guaranteed protection under the condition of anonymity, we can do a lot better., We can also bring the Police out of Govt Control when they deal with corruption cases and are forced to listen to MP/senior officers who are puppets of ministers.

@dibapiba I am trying to gauge the meaning of your comments. It appears to me that you are fine with the dictatorship of politicians and corrupt officials.
I would recommend you to read the versions of the bill in details and not superficially. It is very clearly highlighted that in case if a false complaint is made then the complainant is liable for punishment as well. Jan Lokpal does not intend to be a dictator. I think its the other way round its the government who wants to be a dictator which is evident from the bill that they have made and their actions.

Sarkari LokPal is clearly a eyewash by the governament and its as good as not having it..its a clear waste of time .Jan LokPal is definately far far better. During the press conference Kapil Sibal was telling the media that the govt drafted the bill in consultation with Team Anna. Mr. Kerjival had a different opinion to this. One of the major flaw in the Jan Lokpal bill that I could say is the selection committee, under no circumstances as per Indian constitution PM and higher judiciary can come under an institution committee that is NOT elected by people of republic of india. In a democratic country persons or institutions elected by people and for the people should be respected and no other country or institution or organization should be authoritative against people elected institution.

No Law can be perfect it will require amendments periodically based on experience . This has been the case with our Constitution which has been amended 94 times since its enactmen.there is no magic wand it will take time we need to have patience There is no one giant step that does it. It’s a lot of little steps. Some law can abolish 70 % corruption in one stroke is a big bluff itself ..

i think government bill is ok We should give it a chance and make further amendments whenever required in future. No Law can be perfect it will require amendments periodically based on experience . This has been the case with our Constitution which has been amended more than 100 times since its enactmen.....there is no magic band it will take time

@ram5438 I have viewed the whole ppt again. It presents that the person who makes a complaint, if proven wrong will have to pay fine or imprisonment. This is not Democracy. Then in cases for crimes like Murder, Theft, Rape etc, should there be provision of fines, viewing the degree of offence? Only Politicians are not corrupt, everyone from Film Stars, Sports Persons to Common Man, all are a part of it and most of the people of different fields are enjoying their extra source of income :)

Govt Lokpal bill draft is worthy of the dustbin because it seems to encourage corruption and choke the voice of whistleblower. Leaving the PM out of the ambit of Lokpal is like leaving a gap to become a floodgate of corruption subsequently.
I personally feel, the draft Jan Lokpal should immediately be placed in the parliament to eradicate corruption.

We need better clauses for Whistle Blowers.. Their exposes can reveal a chain that start with a low level official and end up with a MP/MLA being involved in most cases. If they are guaranteed protection under the condition of anonymity, we can do a lot better., We can also bring the Police out of Govt Control when they deal with corruption cases and are forced to listen to MP/senior officers who are puppets of ministers.

@keeratkirat so according 2 U judiciary is corrupt b/c judiciary is also all powerful correct?? wht abt the parliament. they R also all powerful. so they cn also B corrupt. wht R U going 2 do abt it?sit & cry lk U R doing now? Lokpal activities R going 2 B transparent. U cn complain abt any person in the lokpal team & action will B taken. All case details & info is going 2 B publicly available. ths is a sign that India is moving forward & ppl R fed up of the corruption we hear evry day.

@shakushetty . There is no dictatorship in the current democracy form. Its 3 entities parliament, PM & cabinet and Judiciary.. All independent.. What Anna is proposing is a dictatorship of officials in the Lokpal department. Since its all powerful, there is big chance of it being the most corrupt.. The solution that anna & team is proposing is more evil than the problem.. Only way to solve this problem is make everything transparent and open . Then every citizen of india becomes a Lokpal.

What Anna's bill proposes is a Lokpal who will dictate how all the organs of the state will work. Some of the provisions of the jan Lokpal bill are well-intentioned but impractical, like the case of covering lower bereaucracy.. Even if you consider 1 person in lokpal department for every 100 govt employess of other department, Lokpal will become the biggest department in india.

if MPs come under the lokpal bill their action/speech in parliament, where is the independence of parliament. Remember for every action there is someone who doesn't like it and that person/s can attach any meaning/motive to that action and file a complaint. So MPs wont basically be able to function. Judiciary also comes under it..

All the 3 branches of government parliament, executive and judicary which were supposed to 3 independent pillars of democracy lose their independence and come under Lokpal. In effect you have changed india from democracy to Lokpalshahi (a kind of dictatorship) and nullified the constitution of india.

@dibapiba By seeing your comments and views, I think a bigger threat than our corrupt politicians are half-educated people, who have half-understanding of how the system actually works. Did u take the trouble to even go through this video? Its not about dictating, its about keeping a check! Where is it in the present system? The true pillars of a democracy are Change, Transparency & Accountability! Not the ones u quoted, if else the case was so, we would have seen end of corruption 64yr earlier.

The Government Lokpal bill just demonstrates how government wants to fool Indians by making a law that would not apply to the government itself.

I think this is the right way and approach to educate and inform people about the difference between the two bills.This way,general people will have a fair idea ,as ignorance and half knowledge is also dangerous..but I wud also like to know as to how team anna is planning to bring the details of this bill to the knowledge of the rural/illetrate man,who is also there on the streets???need to have a local dialect paper for all the regional centers,istnt it?

I would recommend you to read the versions of the bill in details and not superficially. It is very clearly highlighted that in case if a false complaint is made then the complainant is liable for punishment as well. Jan Lokpal does not intend to be a dictator. I think its the other way round its the government who wants to be a dictator which is evident from the bill that they have made and their actions.

Sarkari LokPal is clearly a eyewash by the governament and its as good as not having it..its a clear waste of time .Jan LokPal is definately far far better. Mrs Bedi..I was in Ramlilia Ground Yesterday and it was a great movement..Wud Congratulate Your team for Starting this great indian Movement. Brilliant work! This slide must be passed on to all Indians so they know how the govt cheated team Anna. During the press conference Kapil Sibal was telling the media that the govt drafted the bill in consultation with Team Anna. Mr. Kerjival had a different opinion to this. Thanks to this slide, it all evident how committed the govt is.

One of the major flaw in the Jan Lokpal bill that I could say is the selection committee, under no circumstances as per Indian constitution PM and higher judiciary can come under an institution committee that is NOT elected by people of republic of india. In a democratic country persons or institutions elected by people and for the people should be respected and no other country or institution or organization should be authoritative against people elected institution.

alright... so my parents watch news channel all the time but i always hated indian news. but since anna hazare's strike started i've been watching it. what an amazing person he is 74 and doing everything that a young man would be afraid to do. he is truly amazing. he is today's gandhi. actually he's todays anna... i am in living in usa born in india but ill still say that i am anna. even everybody here is supporting you sir... i really appreciate you doing this.
