The T3 continues Taylor’s quest to expand the range of tones available to the electric player. I think it's really important that the guitars are set up properly. I had mine totally dialed in and then decided to go up to a heavier string gauge. It pulled the neck in a little and knocked everything out of whack. Now it's having trouble staying in tune. The thing about a bigsby is that a bend or using the arm can pull it out of tune, but if you give the arm a little tap or a little tug, a lot of times that'll put it right back into tune.
I'm interested in the Mesa Lone Star Special...I'm looking for a high quality amp for my Fender B Bender that sounds like a Fender, but with a feature set like the LS Special. Do you think this amp will provide the spank and twang I'm looking for? THX! GREAT DEMO as usual! [PS: Is the Slave Out a preamp out - to the console?]
Yeah, either this or the LoneStar Classic (since it uses 6L6/EL34 tubes). It'll sound more Fendery where this one leans towards a Vox. BUT, if you're a Brad Paisley fan, he uses Dr. Z amps which are Vox-inspired- so you wouldn't be alone.
The Slave Out could go anywhere you wanted I suppose. In this video, I have it bypassed and am just mic'ing with the camera and built-in mic from my MacBook Pro.
Been watching all your demos and loving them. Can you post a picture or send me one showing me your boost comp settings on the m13? I'd love to set mine like yours
I keep the comp setting at about 50%. The Drive is way down low (maybe 10%). I don't touch the bass or treble but I push the output almost all the way up. I try to make it so that the effect on is the same volume as my loudest playing when the effect is bypassed.
Hey bro, I actually just ordered my T3/b, but i noticed you have offset inlays... my dealer told me that Taylor refused to do ANYTHING custom on the T3's yet...not even a custom inlay... how did you get yours with the offset inlays?
This one is a prototype model that was built while they were still sussing out the options. This one originally had the pickup selector down past the tone knob, but they put a black plastic plug over it and moved it up to the top horn (where the production models have them now).
Thanks man. That was one of the best, most thorough demo vids I've ever seen. Really helps for those of us too far from a decent music store to try one first hand.
Normally, Bigsby vibratos DO have tuning issues. But on the Taylor, they're using a 1) roller saddle and 2) a Tusq nut that is injected with Teflon when it is in the manufacturing process to cut down on friction up near the headstock.
This one stays in tune really well. You see me using it all through this continuous video and there are no edits (and no retuning!).
I started in the 7th grade. Didn't really get a girl 'til I was a senior in high school. I'm 35 now. Lots of years of practice (I still play for a couple of hours a day, not counting gigs).
Thanks so much for your kind words. They make it all seem worthwhile. :)
yup. what you're hearing is just guitar into amp, though. The M13 is bypassed except for the little section where I turn on the compressor. It's a really great pedalboard solution. I use it for both local gigs and travel gigs.
I have a nice Build To Order Taylor one-of-a-kind Grand Symphony. It's pretty nice. I'm blessed, that's for sure. I don't deserve the nice stuff I have.
it's just a different thing. Roughly the same size, but this one has 2 channels, solo boost for each channel, reverb for each chanel, switchable fx loop, and a bunch of eq options. But it's also 3x as expensive.
It really plays great. Very smooth. And while the T5 leans towards acoustic, this T3 has no acoustic settings at all. It's just a really great, full-sounding semi-hollow guitar.

Hey you played my savior lives and your grace is enough toward the end there. I never thought I'd hear that in a guitar demo.

whats your opinion of taylors bigsby/rolling bridge set up, does it stay in tune when you really bend a lot with it?
also how many semi tones can u bend in each direction?
cheers, never used a bigsby much, but the one I did try went out of tune instantly.

Amazing :D What's the chord progression you play at the beginning?
29396 2 years ago
That's a song off of the cd I'm working on called "Strong". It should be done before Summer.
The progression is A, G7/A, F#m7, Fdim, Em7, D, C# (sus4, then resolve), Bm7, E, and then back to A.
And then you have to make rock n' roll faces and lick the fretboard. haha :)

How do you like the M13 with the Lonestar?
nremondelli 2 years ago
It's great. Both are pretty sparkly, though, so it's nice to roll off some of the highs on the amp just to make it feel a little more full.

Thanks for the reply too. I am really interested in the t3/b. Is it everything it's made out to be. It looks amazing and sounds awesome too.

It's a fantastic guitar. It's well-made and plays as easily as any other Taylor out there.
