  • I could listen to this song till the day I die, The opening bars appear to be back wards, LOVE IT Love It love it....

  • i've loved XTC since 1979 but i've never heard of the gilmore girls - i feel like the odd one out after reading all the comments.

at least the younger generation are being exposed to the genius that is andy partridge. you all really need to check out fuzzy warbles.

  • @seanie002 Fuzzy warbles fantastic, he even sings a birthday song to my wife.

  • Who are Rory and Jess?

  • @hejafish from Gilmore Girls

  • Proof once again that the writers of Gilmore Girls were enthusiasts of great music. The fact that they used this song and "Thirteen" by Big Star kinda blew my mind.

This is a masterpiece of a song. XTC = the modern Beatles. Genius stuff.

  • Do you people even realize that the Gilmore Girls weren't real? Jeezus.... Enjoy the song for what it is, a masterpiece...

  • Rory and Jess are so good together. I just watched the episode when he left Stars Hollow without telling her :( So sad. I love Gilmore Girls!

  • OK, let's cut out all the Gilmore Girls BS for a minute and talk about the actual f'n song. This is one of my favorite XTC tunes, and just another example of how consistently awesome these guys were throughout their entire existence.

  • @seattlesharksfan One of my faves, pure genius. Its all about the music with me. I grew up before video, were we made up our own pictures in our heads about songs.

  • they are talking about Rory Leigh Gilmore(aka rory from gilmore girls!) love gilmore girls!!!

  • my names rory, what the fuck are you all talking about?!

  • such an amazing song.

    & even better, as it reminds me of milo ventimiglia the most beautiful person on the planet (;

  • And then God created XTC, and he saw it was good.

  • RORY AND JESS FTW. Rewatching all the episodes, I almost forgot how beautiful Jess was. :3 Love them two, too adorable.

  • @Tasnim16 I was never a big fam of jess i like Logan better hes a better Boyfriend

  • @Ldowney9851 Naaah, I loved Logan but Jess was a way better boyfriend! He never cheated her or anything. IMO, Rory was a brat before/while she was dating Jess.

  • @Tasnim16 Logan never Cheated on Rory she just thought that he Did and Logan thought they had Broken up

  • @Tasnim16 Meaning he dident cheat

  • @Ldowney9851 Even if Logan thought they broke up, if he really loved Rory he wouldn't cheat on her with what was it, 7 different women? One, I get if he was angry or whatever, but 7?!

  • @Tasnim16 He was hurt he dident exactly know what was going between them and when rory found out he saw she was hurt and that hurt him meaning he truly loved her!!!!

  • rory and jess forever <3

  • jess <3

  • I miss the Gilmore Girls..... I especially miss Jess <3

  • haha yes, i always think of them when i hear this song :) this totally describes rory and jess' relationship <3

  • Oh old indie, how I mis thee....

  • ええ曲

  • Love this song!

  • everytime i listen to this song i think of rory/jess:) it is their unofficial theme song:)

  • <3

  • RORY & JESS <3

  • @binibibo yes =)

  • @Skautka4 whoop whoop ;)

  • i love this song(XXXXX) soo much!!

  • The perfect love song

  • It says somewhere on Wiki that the title 'Nonsuch' may have derived from the lyric, 'While some nonesuch net holds me aloft' toward the end of Oranges and Lemons. But that's how they got every album title so I don't see how it 'may' have derived. Surely it DID derive!

  • @TheScriabin - XTC has had a few instances of album titles coming from lyrics of previous albums. "Oranges and Lemons" comes from the opening line of "Ballet for a Rainy Day" on SKYLARKING ("Orange and lemon").

  • @xnonsuchx And the word "nonesuch" is in "Chalkhills and Children".

  • @LarsTheSecond - Yes, my handle is taken from this album...one of my faves of all time :-)

  • @xnonsuchx And the word "nonesuch" is in "Chalkhills and Children" off ORANGES AND LEMONS.

  • Indeed, Colin Moulding is one of my favorite bass player's. Always. tasteful, inventive,

and never scribbles all over a song by over playing.

  • The bass playing on this is as creative as bass playing gets

  • This album is great for showing how XTC liked to place melodic songs next to gnarly ones (The Ugly Underneath or That Wave)... they kept us guessing

  • trust me,unbelievable great band...

  • @cosmicrider287 my first time hereing this great

  • Thanks for posting. Bought this when it came out and still play it. My wife walked down the isle to this in our outdoor wedding in a subtropical garden in Wanganui, New Zealand, following three bubble-blowing nieces wearing angel wings made of flowers...Ahh, the memories...How any people can say that their wedding song mentions a Hookah pipe?

  • loved this album - i'm old enough to have taped it from the vinyl borrowed from Wallington library - they had a couple of groovy librarians working there around the early 90's, and this was there alongside Beatles Revolver, Kraftwerks Trans Europe Express, and a few of the Be Bop era jazz guys - Charles Mingus being my fave - Nonsuch ( Cheam ) park being just up the road made it seem almost cool to be living round there - Ha !

  • Any clean XTC is good> thank you!

  • This song is magical! Thank you for posting this

  • underrated album. thanks for posting
